Just don't give me these stupid arguments about how it's better than alchohol. The long term impact of marijuana isn't very well studied, though clearly it is "safe" in the immediate will I die sense, and has if any chronic issues, far fewer chronic issues than a hard drug or hard alcohol use.
The thing that pisses me off about the argument is just that most people don't get very drunk whenever they drink, and alcoholic drinks taste good and are cultural.
The main reason why I don't like marijuana is that it influences you slightly for a few days, and my job is very attention driven (engineering), and that I just don't like what it does to me. I don't give any fucks what other people like to do though.
I'm an aspie, and for whatever reason alcohol makes me less of an aspie, whereas weed makes me more of an aspie.

It's not cheap enough to take away business from criminals and cartels. They aren't taxes at 10% and don't have to pay overhead for a store, employee salaries, employer benefits, electricity, security, etc. They'll still keep contributing to cartels, the only difference is they can't be arrested for it so there's no deterrent against it. This was already tried in Colorado and failed. Within the first 3 months of legalization there were around 150 shops, 1 year later there are around 10 and business is likely dwindling.
Before someone says "medical" weed is better, it's just hydroponically grown stuff that anuone can grow with the right lights and watering systems. Mexican weed is the shitty stuff grown in fields and hydro is the "good shit" that anyone can grow in their closet. Oh this also doesn't deter from someone growing shit in their house or renting out houses to start growing operations. I used to smoke a lot, still smoke occasionally but much more rare. Whenever I take extended breaks from the herbal jew, I feel a thousand times more confident and less anxiety. I don't really know why I ever come back to it, mostly just out of habit or perhaps some kind of nostalgia.
I've come to a point where I understand why it shouldn't be viewed as a non-taboo hobby and the social stigma attached to smoking weed has it's merits. I would never claim to understand the long-term consequences of legalization either, so I'm not really willing to confidently back that kind of policy, even though I don't personally care if anyone indulges.

After doing my own research (as corny as it sounds), I don't think recreational or medical marijuana should be illegal. However, if my friends started smoking it, I would be less of friends with them, because it does make you more of a lazy and or douchebagy type of person. But again, shouldn't be illegal
I think a lot of non-smokers underestimate the amount of mature responsible users. It's userbase is a lot like alcohols userbase really. I can't drink, alcohol gives me crippling cramps in my stomach, so instead I smoke weed. I don't smoke before work. I don't smoke or be stoned around my kids. I don't drive while I am stoned. All the general rules of resposible use which are applied to alcohol are the same with weed. Except that I cant go to a bar and smoke weed all night. I can't legally buy weed. I can be arrested for possessing weed.
And the worst part is - there is no end to the amount of assholes that happily berate me for being a smoker, while they are drunk. I can't drink assholes. The only reason there is talk among politicians regarding the legalization of weed is because legalization serves as a means of taxation. That's all it's about. Make no mistake: whether or not weed becomes legal is irrelevant if you ever hope to have a career.
The legalization of weed only serves to create another tax revenue stream for government. The govt can not and will not ever dictate to businesses whether or not they can disqualify you from employment for smoking weed. Nearly all corporate employers require a urine test/drug screening for all current and potential employees. Any business can disqualify you from employment for any number or reasons including for smoking weed — regardless of whether that weed is legal or not.
