Jews try and misinterpret Rumspringa, the term isn't really used by most groups. Amish are Anabaptists, and their social groups are there churches, there is a period of about a year between them maturing to adulthood in which they no longer really belong to their parents household. Within this time they are still a semi-member of the church/society, but they still aren't baptized yet. So during this period they can go get a car, have a computer, live a modern life, etc. while still being with their family and community, after this period they choose whether or not to undergo the baptism. After baptism they are expected to drop all of that stuff and conform to the rules set out by their particular sect, something like 90-80% do, which is a really high retention rate
