The redpill is that the Thalmor are using Ulfric Stormcloak as a useful idiot to destabilize Skyrim and keep the Empire occupied as they rebuild after the Great War, wipe out resistance factions in the Empire, and assert themselves into the upper echelons of provincial politics.
Ulfric used the hatred for the Thalmor to drum up disdain for the Empire among the Nord veterans of the Great War to assert his claim to be High King of Skyrim. He made the Empire appear weak in its dealings with the Thalmor, and made the Jarls and the High King appear weak in their dealings with the Empire.
The Empire got fucked in the ass by the Thalmor, and instead of being able to rebuild the Legion for round two, they have to fight in the Skyrim Civil War while the Thalmor set themselves up as Cyrodiil's masters.
In typical Elder Scrolls fashion, the story is not a clear cut one. It is political opportunism on top of political opportunism.

The British are a former-Empire wishing to maintain their culture and laws.
The Stormcloaks have 6 towns they call "cities", countryside overrun with bandits and necromancers (degenerates), and a history of hating on other human races.

The problem with that the Empire falls prey to what I call "The tragedy of the Empire", a fate that befalls almost every great empire all throughout history, including Rome, Austria-Hungary, and it is what will happen to America if Trump doesn't start fixing things FAST.
The problem with Empires is that they're big enough to have a lot of different ethnic groups within their borders. The Empire solves this by spreading the premise of "All the races will work together to make the empire better". This usually works for a while, a few hundred years at most. But people tend to identify with those who are most like them, and eventually one or more groups will start feeling cheated or suppressed at the expense of other groups, usually the race that founded the Empire in the first place. This begins a period of chaos and insurrection, as clashes between the founding race and the rebel races become fierce, and they take place all around the empire, in every province because these provinces have become ethnically diverse due to the "all races help each other" motif. Eventually the empire either crumbles or is invaded by an outside force, just like how Rome was crushed by German barbarians who would otherwise have been slaughtered.
This can be seen in the Elder Scrolls. Cyrodill especially is a very diverse province, and even in Oblivion there is very clear ethnic strife between different races. In other words, when the Thalmor made their attack, they were making it against a drastically weakened empire upon the verge of collapse already. Even in the green text you posted the user states how the different races were struggling to cooperate because they cared about their home province and people more than the Empire as a whole.
In other words, it hardly matters if the Empire defeats the Thalmor because it just buys them a little extra time before the whole thing eventually collapses from the inside anyway.

I think that view is too simplistic. You're ascribing to Whig History. Nothing is set in stone like that. Decadence is neither inevitable nor irreversible.
If the Emperor said "Alright, time to genocide the elves and repopulate their lands with humans", that would cut down on the ethnic instability you're complaining about. If he turned around and created some sort of Empire wide civic nationalist propaganda machine, he could achieve the same result.
Anything any ruler does is just "buying more time until the state collapses". Every country ever runs on a clock. But that clock isn't immutable. If you're smart, you can figure out ways to extend your nation's lifespan.
The Empire has always been and while always be under siege from various forces. If you want to preserve it, that means it's your job to do your part. In Oblivion, that means defeating Mehrunes Dagon before he can do too much damage to Cyrodil. In Skyrim, that means crushing the Stormcloak rebellion as soon as possible. In ten years, it might mean putting the Aldmeri Dominion to the sword. In twenty, you might need to reform the tax code to save the Empire from fiscal ruin.
The life of a country is just a series of crises. Either it conquers them or it goes under. If people said "well it's just gonna collapse down the line anyway so fuck it" we'd still be living in caves.
True, but there's a difference between a country and a people. France has had a ton of different republics and empires and shifts in government, from ruling the world to civil war and collapse. Yet despite all that the French people still exist.
If a country collapses but the people still exist, they can one day form a new country, like how the Holy Roman Empire transformed into the German Reich. But when an Empire collapses, it can never be reformed, because empires depend on the cooperation of multiple ethnic groups, and once those groups gain independence and strength, they're not likely to want to return under the rule of any other country. After Rome collapsed, the different provinces didn't bide their time until they could rebuild it. They just formed new nations: Byzantium, England, Italy, Spain. It all ties back to the reasons why ethnic nationalism is better than civic nationalism.
