The lighter, submissive genes are bred out of populations in a 1/2 chance, 1/4 chance, 1/8 chance, to 1/16 chance of expression with every succesive generation. The only way to keep a significant number after 4 generations is to inbreed, because otherwise the dominant dark genes would establish itself in the population.
