These are guys who have tens of thousands of man hours poured into the production of each show. When you first start watching them they come off as really smart, and as if they know what they're talking about. Once you realize that they're just reading a script written by 100 jewish writers, and that they spend 8 hours each day rehearsing before the show, it's suddenly not all that impressive.

Couple that with the fact that if you have any real economic or political knowledge at all, you can easily see that they're just spurting facile, feel good, bullshit arguments, and go through great lengths in editing to make their opponents look as dumb as possible to people with low information on the subjects. For example they interviewed Peter Schiff for 4 hours only to use a 30 second clip of him fumbling trying to come up with the PC word for retards.

I still like them but I don't use them as an actual source of news and politics now

John Stewart was never really funny. I couldn't understand how so many people would watch his show religiously when it was him saying something stupid and laughing at his own joke.

Colbert, on the other hand, was entertaining when he had The Colbert Report. Sure, some of the stuff he did was stupid, but he was a good satirist. Now that he has The Late Show he's not as funny. I'd argue he still deserves his show for now, even if 90% of it is "I can't believe people voted for Drumpf" and "I'm not racist, I voted for the first female president" segments.

What I really don't understand is how Conan O'Brien even has a show, let alone enough of a fan base that allowed him to get another show when he was fired from NBC for not being funny.
