Bosnian War

Can someone, preferably from the Balkans, explain the Bosnian War to me.

Why did it happen and who do you believe is at fault? Also, why was Croatia fighting Serbia?

Was it a matter of Serbia simply trying to remove kebab and everyone turned on them?

It all started some 550 years ago when the Turks conquered Serbia, Bosnia and eventually parts of Austria-Hungary including both parts of Croatia and Hungary.
This led to to a huge number of "refugees", particularly from Serbia, but also Bulgaria, Macedonia ("vlachs") etc. to Croatia and Bosnia.
Serbs fled west and northwest to Bosnia and Croatia. Descendants of these Serbs still live in parts of Croatia and Bosnia or at least they used to until they left for Serbia during the Yugoslav war.
>Also, why was Croatia fighting Serbia?
This is where we come into play. Basically, Croatia and Slovenia seceded. Serbs who lived in Croatia obviously wanted to stay in Yugoslavia which was at that point pretty much Serbia. Serbia with the help of local Serbs attacked Croatia, occupied Croatian land, but ultimately failed and fled (some were forced to leave).

>Yugoslavias economy is heavily weakend by the collapse of the Soviet Union
>Slovenia declares itself indipendent so they can open their market to the west
>Ten-Day War
>Jugoslavia decides not worth to have people killed because of slovenia
>Croatia declares itself indipendent
>Croatia war
>unlike in slovenia this time there is a hughe as war ongoing
>The Muslims and catholics in bosnia have the feeling that they are send to death by the orthodox serbs
>Bosnia declares itself indipendent
>Now we have manny christians (both orthodox and catholic) living in a muslim majority state
>The catholics and orthodox decalre their own states
>The orthodox republika srpska basicly became a puppet of Jugoslavia that isn't much more then Serbia anymore
>Bosnian islamists start killing ethnical croats in bosnia
>Croatia is declaring war to bosnia
>ethnic cleaning commited by the serbs in bosnia
>Bosnia turns more and more in an islamist state
>Srebrenica
>War goes on
>USA and Russia enforce the peace of Dayton
>Peace between croatia, serbs and bosnia
>Bosnia became a extremly federated state, divided in Bosnia, Herzegovina and Srpska
>Albanians within serbia (so this time the serbian motherland want to declare indipendence)
>Kosovo war
>Serbs get killed all over southern serbia
>Serbs react by doing the same with albanians
>Clinton bombs serbia
>The albanians get their own state, Kosovo.

I forget how the Yugoslav government system worked exactly but basically each SR had one vote total towards electing the president and at one point Vojvodina and Kosovo as autonomous republics also had 1 vote and constitution wise were arguably on or near the level of SRs. Basically by the time Milosevic came around Yugoslavia was going to shit in numerous ways, nationalism was on the rise in every republic, there were big time riots and scandals in Kosovo and other regions, economy was nosediving (Yugoslav economy was heavily inflated anyway) so on and so on.

Kosovo was stripped of its rights and autonomy in the late '80s and a Serb-supported coup happened in Montenegro granting Serbia 2 extra votes, also i forget what happened in Vojvodina but Serbia also effectively had another vote coming in from there with a total of 4 votes which lead to the other republics creating an uneasy alliance to counteract this influence.

The other republics in response to Yugoslavia turning into a vessel for greater Serbia elected their own nationalist figures (e.g. Tudjman) and eventually held referendums for independence which all went through overwhelmingly. Yugoslavia at this point was by all means defunct and just Serbia and Montenegro (and Republika Srpska) trying to prevent the dissolution of the union.

Slovenes and Croats won their wars easily and Croats went so far as to cleanse Serbs out of Croatia almost entirely, for example look at the population of Serbian Krajina in the 90s and look at it now in terms of demographics.

It was tricker in Bosnia because Bosnia is basically a non-country, it's a constructed nation of 3 main ethnic groups (Croats, Serbs, Bosniaks or muslims). They lived in their own enclaves like Republika Srpska and Bosniaks in general were pretty weak in terms of weapons and military capacity meanwhile the Serbian separatists were supported by the Yugoslav government and military. Same thing happened in Kosovo

The biggest takeaways is that Serbia IS responsible for antagonizing other republics and triggering the Yugoslav wars. They are not eternal victims as Serbian babbies on Sup Forums would make you believe. However going past that Serbian people suffered just as much as any of the other nations within Yugoslavia in terms of being victims of genocide and they lost a huge swathe of their landmass to add insult to injury, so by the end everyone was both responsible and a victim.

Lol at the ignorance of preciouspostwrs
Conveniently obstrucring the fact that the war was started and led by (((Nato))) to destroy yugoslavia ,basically another syria, iraq ,ukraine, lybia.
>be state independent from ((((them)))
>OY VEY SHUT IT DOWN
>Call (((Nato))
>finance (((islamists))
>Finance (((opposition))
>State destroyeD
>SUCCESS
>OY VEY GOYIM IT WAS THE SERBS MEMBER THE SIX GORRILION POOR MUSLIMS

yes, because 99% of the Croatian, Slovenian, Bosniak, and Albanian populations didn't vote in their own interests but rather did so because of (((them)))

you fucking retard

>they lost a huge swathe of their landmass
Not really. If anything, it's the opposite. You can't just steal foreign land because some of your people were allowed to enter foreign countries as refugees some few hundred years ago and expect everything to go smoothly. Original Serbia is central Serbia, Kosovo and parts of southern and western Bosnia. They have no business being in northwest/west Bosnia and west Croatia. It was never their land and it never will be and that's why they lost and their great Serbia plan failed.
I admit we got Istria in a somewhat similar way, but it's a fairly small piece of land compared to what Serbs had in mind. What happened in Kosovo is a shame and I do hope Serbs get it back because it belongs to them. Hell, let them have most of Bosnia, it's a massive shithole anyway and it would only be a burden to us, but they will never get another piece of Croatian land.

Serbcuck detected.

This is literally dindu tier.
