Russians had a hard as fuck time enforcing wars in their own borders, and Turkey has a pretty strong military all things considered with a huge population and strong economy/infrastructure. Turkey is also Islamic and heavily mountainous, i'll leave the rest to your imagination.
Russia's military is alright, it has some good equipment here and there (SAM systems) but also a lot of old equipment plus poorly trained conscripts. Not to say Turkey's army is better quality, it's definitely worse, but it's also decent enough.
In a defensive war Russia cannot win, it would be a bloodbath for Russian soldiers and the war morale at home would nosedive like ours did in Vietnam. Russia is not like the US and can't project power the way we can which is why we defeated Iraq's huge army in like 3 weeks.

And the state sent some papers to big companies that they could use their properties in a war scenario. These things started like 2 weeks ago. I knew this kinda shit could happen.
