I wouldn't say we contributed nothing. As far as a per capita basis goes, we contributed quite a bit, it just so happens our population is small.
But it is pretty common knowledge that Canadians stormed the most fortified beach, Juno Beach, on D-Day.
The other four beaches were taken by the UK and the US. So, we feel a little bit of pride that we were able to go with the big boys, even just a little.

Can you name all of the involved parties in North Africa offhand?
What happened in the Mediterranean, what ships sunk, who controlled it when, etc? In the North Sea? What happened in the Netherlands? All the places where Indian fighters assisted?
I barely know anything about WW2 in the grand scheme of things but I'm pretty sure I could go year-by-year and write in every country involved in every theater, and in many cases I could describe far more.

Canadians were bad ass mofos up until the 60s (coincidentally also when the Leafs stopped winning the Stanley Cup).
They were pretty much on par with the UK and France as the biggest heroes of WW1 and in WW2 they did their fair share of integral troop support and battles. They also had the prisoner camps that held the jap POWs in BC.

We sent 1 million soldiers. For reference, our population was only 10 million at the time, so it was pretty significant.
Esentially our biggest contribution was liberating the Netherlands. We saved their monarchy and their country. We also defended Hong Kong against the japs.
