What was the Sup Forums of the 90s, Sup Forums?

What websites were the primary source of conspiracy theories, disinformation, gore, cult following, satire, misogynistic virgins and political discussion on the best era of all eras??

What even happened to Rotten.com?

Seems like it became abandoned and left to rot over a decade ago.

Bbs

heh. this still makes me laugh

The National Enquirer.

I remember reading a lot of AboveTopSecret.

Other message boards
IRC
Newsgroups

Maybe HAM radio.

>What websites were the primary source of conspiracy theories, disinformation, gore, cult following, satire, misogynistic virgins and political discussion on the best era of all eras??

I think you're confusing the late 90s/early 00s with the 90s. That said.....

Stiles Project was the site for gore and really fucked up porn. Something Awful was the site for satire and virgins in the late 90s. Conspiracy theories and politics were generally kept on usenet.

Websites? Websites? Hahahahha

alt.bin.yoursubject here
But seriously, newsgroups and boards.
Chatrooms
Maybe compuserve forums for normies.
Probably AOL had something as well but I never knew anybody that signed up, we just reformatted the free floppy disk.

For a while the "Dark web" was the unused storage space in a partition on the free demo CD's that computing magazines had on the front cover.

Hell once I found an LP that had a series of dialtones as a track that would log you in to some guys private server.

Most original-fags and oldfags migrated here from Something Awful

Other stuff - stickdeath.com, WAREZ sites, IRC, ICQ, USENET, fravia/searchlores, a bunch of sites where tech support people posted horror stories - can't think of name of particular one...Lots of Geocities and Angelfire shitholes with viewcounters. I dunno. Been a long time.

I was a kid still in 2004-2005 and I remember going to places like stickdeath

>Hell once I found an LP that had a series of dialtones as a track that would log you in to some guys private server.

The early internet is fucking fascinating to me
I'm 19 and my parents kept me away from the internet for a long time so I missed that kind of stuff by a long whiel

>what was the Sup Forums of the 90's
The weird kids table

>tfw you'll never again be that edgy 14yo spamming gore on irc, traumatizing innocent teens who just wanted to talk about Runescape

I remembered one and it is still up and close to what it was

Rinkworks.com

Fuck you and die

I remember that site, one of the classics, still has that nice clean formatting too. 22 years and counting.

Bianca.com. Sup Forums replaced it

Totse

who remembers stileproject? it was kinda cool.

for a teenager.

I want to say the straight dope message board has been around as long, too. Also still around and same formatting.

I'm also just old enough to remember Phreaking as a thing.
While I love how the Internet has grown and changed, I feel a bit sorry for modern users as the sense of discovery has been lost. Remember no search engines just lists of links and word of mouth.
Dmoz is still around [if changed] and is the backbone of modern search engines.
dmoz.org/

I remember the rotten.com library had surprisingly well written articles.

oh and the audiowarez scene too. there was this site, the wild leech ranch something like that. it was a pitch black site with yellow and red fonts. got nuendo from there and a ton stuff more. im getting real nostalgia, folks.

My neighbor and I installed rainbow boxes and shit at the hub in our neighborhood. The phone company caught on and built a heavy duty enclosure.

The shit i found on those shareware cd's is insane. Good times.

this OP

Apolyton is the oldest message board i can think of. Thats how i ended up here in fact.

Bbs>apolyton>planetquake>sa>Sup Forums

online communities (diy for example) were badass back then. you could really learn shit. nowadays is just trolling and attention whoring and "hey guys girl here".

STILE PROJECT

Textfiles.com
Orgish.com
Cyberspaceorbit
Any BBS/IRC

Stile project forum, my nig.

Does anyone remember a Photoshop tutorial site called Dan or Dave's dynamic drive. The guy taught you how to make really convincing nudes based off the Heidi Klum and and the rest of the '96/'97 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. The guy was way ahead of his time.

USENET
no seriously

ayyy

>Geocities
>Angelfire

Oh man, the memories are flooding back to me.

ayy uh got some of that uh cheese pizza senpai

kappa nokappa

The best was getting a free windowed domain from namezero and then no-scripting their ad shit and the bottom frame altogether. The eventually caught on after a year or so.

downloading warez via 50 1mb zip files from an angelfire website that had a flashing under construction gif and hamsterdance playing in the background wasted a lot of my formative years.

youtu.be/jbEmm-mc_ws?t=2m35s

look what she says
lol

lmao who here used to troll the fuck out of those "guestbooks"???

>Zip
>Not r01, r02,....., .rar

Totally worth it to get 3DSMAX

I'm surprised no one mentioned consumption junction

>What websites were the primary source of conspiracy theories, disinformation, gore, cult following, satire, misogynistic virgins and political discussion on the best era of all eras??

Newsgroups.

Next.

SomethingAwful, which is where moot came from.

Memeber when you could look at all this stuff and not get put on a list [unless you broke an actual law ofc]

TOTSE

something is happening in india, this might hit all countries

TOTSE

totseans.com/totse/

fuck off redditors

Internet in the late 90s early 2000s was all about chat rooms bro.

I lost my virginity to a girl I meet on a MSN chat room. She invited me to a party and by the end of the night I was fucking her in one of the bed rooms.

I think the first 5 or 6 girls I rooted I met on MSN chat rooms.

Goodtimes man. Pussy is a lot harder to get online now.

>planetquake>sa>Sup Forums

my nigga.

circa 2k, but b0g.org was pretty messed up.
wayback snap - web.archive.org/web/20050204014101/http://www.b0g.org/wsnm/news.php

>tfw you will never browse someone's shitty Geocities page on a 56k modem waiting patiently for the page to load only to see a UNDER CONSTRUCTION gif accompanied by MIDI music.

90s Internet was an experience unlike anything else.

The original FuckedCompany.com was a good place to fuck around. But, it didn't start until 2000.

ebaumsworld lol!

>stickdeath.com
YOU'RE NOT EVEN HUMAN-FUCKING-BEING

I kinda miss the old internet. Previous to 2006 or around that time.

Literally every thread you have been posting this.

Fuck off and kys

And then came Bash.org. And then came the LUEsers. And then Ebaums. And then YTMND. And then ABS. And then Reddit.

Ahh.. The Temple. I miss those days.

loved it.

happy days

Mirrored version still up totseans.com/totse/

Anyone else have prodigy in early 90s?

Sausage?

22 here
I think the old internet was fucked and I'm glad I didn't have to deal with it. The sites looked ugly, disorganized, many weirdos. Right now its better.

No one cares what you think, kiddo.

feels

Probably some IRC chat rooms or some shit.

i dont know about you guys but when i feel nostalgic for the old internet i usually hop on gmod cinema servers and watch nazi propaganda with random people.
its not exactly the same but the atmosphere is so similar its shocking. feels like im right back at a bbs i used to frequent talking about how applel users are all subhuman nigger scum.

>rotten

Holy shit I remember accessing this on my PSP as a 14 year old and going through the links until I had to reset the memory

To answer your question though, probably rare VHS trading rings from what I've heard (at least in terms of "muh dark corner fringe"). My dad told me stories about how his friend got into collecting movies and he came across get-together a where people would trade """"rare"""" snuff films (basically just fire by today's standards) and amateur porn and stuff. There was some footage that had legendary-tier rareness and somehow everyone "knew a guy who knew a guy who had seen it" but it never showed up.

*gore, not "fire"

>tfw I was too young to experience the majority of the early internet, but still old enough to jack it to guro hentai chicks on Rotten.com at the age of 10

>totseans.com/totse/

That's not a true successor of totse. dfg was some newfag/pedophile who came along and co-opted himself as a representative and hijacked the name.

He is also a paki

>rotten.com
It felt so evil to go there, so edgy.
Then we went back to listening to Korn and SOAD. Those were the days.

no fuck you infinity +1, no stampies and no erasies you fucking nigger jew.

Hello brothers. Have some memories of the past.

Look what I found:

kernelmag.dailydot.com/issue-sections/features-issue-sections/10700/rotten-history-shock-site/

Comments she disagrees with make her nostalgic for rotten. Looks like this writer got trolled hard.

...

Rense.com was there in the 90's and it still looks quite similar. Love that site, there is so much interesting new stuff there everyday.

About.com had a Conspiracy Theories section run by a guy named Marc Fisher. It disappeared without an explanation right after 9/11.

Alex Jones was around then.

Joe Vialls was fascinating but he died in '04 or something.

There was some real psycho conspiracy site called Light1998.com, it was hard core anti NWO religious/aliens sites, it was a massive site in terms of pages and pictures.

OH, OH, one of my favorite sites of all was www.parascope.com, that is an awesome site and it is all still up on web archive.

Again, that's www.parascope.com

Some other ones that were probably CIA honeypots were voxnyc.com and there was some hardcore commie site called raisethefist.com.

Anybody got the very first posts on pol?

B& from that shithole too often

Member some post by some fuckwit called Bloop about taking a mirror in a river

the net may not belong to us but we can safely say it is more ours than the capitalist pigs that are infesting it now. clueless yuppies are the other 'entity' that are bringing the net to its knees. if you do not know how to use the net, stay off of it. like others, we are losing control of the net and want to take a last stab at revenge. revenge may be childish and immature but it is damn fun and very rewarding.

on to the bombs...

...thanks for the good reads OP

It stopped being frequently updated around 2003. Some updates made it in up to 2006. A scant few updates occurred up to about 2011, iirc.

Anyone remember discharges.org? Sadly, it's been down for 6+ months and I didn't save any of the flashes. RIP

Also, I found HTS noob on the youtube comments of Tr1p's FUCKING TRAINS VIDEO.
