The problem with "net neutrality" is that it's only a good thing if you can trust the FCC and US Govt to do what is best for the US People.
Having a laissez faire attitude to the Internet is only a bad thing if you have regulations that prevent competition and encourage monopolies.

On one hand, we'll have the government deciding what to do with the internet.
On the other, we'll have monopolistic corporations deciding what to do with the internet.
Here's how to make this work though:
Dismantle most of the regulations and allow free competition.
Allow ANYONE to lay wire and start and ISP anywhere in the country.
Imagine if Comcast had to compete with Google Fiber, Verizon Fios, AT&T, CenturyLink, Frontier, Surewest, FairPoint, FatBeam, TimeWarner, Charter, Cox, and half a dozen ISP startups.
They'd be forced to innovate and cut costs to survive.
