Pence was a great pick for multiple reasons. First, I think he's the kind of guy that could be great supporting Trump. Second, people will be scared to assassinate Trump knowing that Pence would be the HMFIC. I live in Indiana, and the fact he wants to defund all planned parenthood, is dead set on striking down Roe v. Wade, wants to eliminate marriage equality, and would like to see a national right to religious freedom in business act (similar to the FADA but more all encompassing) will keep Trump as president and deter assassination attempts.
