It cost 5 million euros and powers street lights for a tiny town of 5000 people. It will take 94 years to pay for itself. What a fucking waste.

First aside from the Danish one that lasted 11 hours before it was all broken right?

oy fucking vey, how are third world shitholes going to outbreed western countries 20:1 if western countries don't overspend on BS climate change policies?

You fucking racist.

Solar freaking roadways? Thunderf00t btfo.

What happens if a cement truck needs to go that way?

>build nuclear reactors to power countries
>throw money at hydrogen cars

everything else is a complete waste of time.

youtube.com/watch?v=RjbKYNcmFUw
youtube.com/watch?v=obS6TUVSZds

why not put the solar panels on something that fast heavy vehicles won’t be plowing on through
like maybe the side of the road

Plus it needs to be cleaned probably weekly at minimum.

It will not last 94 years

Gypsys will pull parts of it up for their caravans

I am literally shaking reading these alt-right posts.

Bullshit by leftists.

THORIUM WHEN ?

So what happens when someone does a burnout on the road?

SOLAR FREAKING ROADWAYS

lol I thought yuropeeons were supposed to be intelligent?

A meme to offset the 82 nuclear power plants belching out toxic sludge that will make europe a radioactive shithole for millions of years.

looks slippery

>what could possibly go wrong

Why not put them to the side of the road so they don't have to deal with 5 ton trucks?

Don't be silly. That's not a Christmas market.

why lol

it's a scam

similar program in the US. 10k usd for 12 by 12 feet of photovoltaic panels. need 800 feet to power a single home.

if they really wanted solar there are much better ways.

Only thing this is good for is melting snow on the panels
Bro the first one was in the US. They didn't even work at first.

>5M worth of solar panels
>in the least sunny region of France
>paid for by the central state
>electricity produced is sold to EDF (energy provider) at subsided price paid for by central state again
>the city, that has paid none of this, will get the money from the sale of electricity

it's just another fraud scheme to buy votes, nothing to see

lololol a fag

Why do they waste so much money on this bullshit fuck i hate idiot greens.

Calling it now, but your country is going to be one of the more desirables in all of Europe soon.

Nuclear is cleaner than everything else.

Or build them as a roof so they don't get shadows cast on them by the cars.

Mozambique will be a fully developed nation in your life time due to their hydrogen fuel cell development

>€17 per kW

ayy

Holy shit nigra check out those sick trip trips kek hates the greens.

are you saying that the reason people in the west don't reproduce as much is because they don't have enough money because they are wasting that money on solar roadways

are you retarded or something

i don't know even where to start explaining just how that doesn't make any sense at all

Why not just build a loop of them around the sun

>stagnating economy
>taxes increasing to fund gibmedats government had to give to win
>dying population
>catholic slavs
not likely

Hydrogen has been a dead end for years fuckface. Millions and millions of dollars in grants given to shit professors and sbirs and nothing to show for it.

Thats the most stupid thing i've ever seen.
Next thing is that road will need cleaning every day because of the mud and dirt on road preventing it from producing maximum energy. Also trucks cannot go over it? What about other machines? Tractors?

...

We should put loads of solar panels on the moon desu

Dumb. The solar road meme was supposed to be solar paint that was easy to apply and collected low amounts of energy over vast distances. This will require cleaning crews, and I refuse to believe any sufficiently strong material is cheap.

Great, now traffic jams cause blackouts.

Cleaner in terms of what?
Net CO2 release?
Gross CO2 release?
Just from powering the plant? or is the energy required to mine uranium included as well?

I do think nuclear should be used but it has its downsides and they should be addressed before commercialising them any larger.

come meme at me

Takes five seconds to get covered with mud

No doubt the EUSSR funded it

THEYRE
SOLAR
FREAKING
ROADWAYS

>Thoughts?
How long will it last until some romanian destroys it for the copper?

How long until Muslims and Africans start stealing the panels?

Thorium based nuclear is much safer than traditional plutonium based.

this joke has gone way too far

As soon as there is market for it.

>Hydrogen has been a dead end for years fuckface

I'm not so sure. As a store of energy it actually looks pretty nice. Could even transport in liquid state if cold enough and would do away with the waste of pumping energy into space through miles of wires.

I mean its just the way you get that energy stored but fuck just being off the grid is a nice idea.

How much did they fuck up the environment producing them?

>traditional plutonium based
try harder m8

Just a meme

solar freakin roadways BTFO

>It will take 94 years to pay for itself.

but you repair roads more than once every 100 years

Sounds like one of those stupid liberal feel-good-but-completely-impractical ideas.

Think about it:
• All the vehicles traveling on the road are blocking out the sun, making it less functional.
• Two good brakings and the entire thing is smeared with rubber stains, blocking out the sun even further.
• Speaking of braking, I bet the grip on it is shit.
• All this is assuming the thing even works and doesn't get crushed as soon as a heavy truck tries going on it. Even if you put up "no vehicle above _ t" signs at both ends of the road, you still ended up with a useless small-cars-only road.

There's literally zero reasons to build such a thing besides the sensationalist, feel-good headlines.
Next time just set up regular solar panels by the side of the road. Or better yet - build a regular solar farm like every other rational municipality would.

You want a real good idea? How about putting up solar roofs in parking lots? Prevents cars from getting overheated/wet/snowed in, AND gives you some power, turning the thing a little more profitable.

I remember watching a video a few years ago debunking the idea of solar roadways planned by a random dude here in the US.

His version of the roads included ideas to make the roads have lights on them that could change dynamically based on traffic conditions or other hazard, and the roads could also heat up to melt ice/snow. The debunk video basically proved that the lights inside the road would require more power than the most optimal solar panel could provide and heating the surface would require an astronomical amount more power than could be provided.

I don't think the average person truly grasps how little solar power can realistically provide. People are under the impression that all it takes is just putting an electrical bread board in the sun when in reality solar panels need to be perfectly devoid of foreign objects and surface blemishes in order to direct the sun rays to the actual power generating material. Even then, the amount of power generated from the panel is minuscule. To put it in perspective, imagine a 5x5 window on the top of your house that gets sun for say 10 hours a day. If you captured 100% of the heat and UV energy that hit the window, you would maybe be able to power a 1 foot strip of LED lights for a few minutes at full power and maybe an hour if they were dimmed to being almost unlit.

Right now solar technology is just not efficient enough to be viable for big projects. At best it's a somewhat amateur way to supplement traditional electrical power but the cost of implementing and maintaining it outweighs the benefit to the point that it's not worth it.

>Thoughts?

More inefficient, more wear and tear, sunlight blocked by traffic..

Literally every single thing would be better if they put them on the side of the road angled to the sun instead.

What kind of retard thinks using them as a roadway is a good idea?

Steal chunks at night
make $$$

Gypsies do this kind of shit.

Kek
Long lines of traffic will reduce output to the point where only 90% will produce electricity.
One fucking peeble and a panel need replacing.
Fucking morning ice will kill everyone on the road and break legs of people who will try to help them.

That doesnt sound like a good idea to me.
Why not fucking build solar panels on the roofs at least.

If you built a tunnel around every road in the world and put solar panels on top, the amount of power generated wouldn't be enough to power lights inside of the tunnels.

They probably have some copper you could extract

easy emone

also. france is making 600+ miles of road like this

>What kind of retard thinks using them as a roadway is a good idea?

indiegogo.com/projects/solar-roadways#/

this retard, he was backed by enough people to get 2.2 million

If this is the only spot they can have panels for whatever reason, why not build a roof over the road and put the panels on that?

Keeps the sun out of your eyes and in the grid

fpbp

>It will take 94 years to pay for itself.
And we all know it won't last that length of time.

This is exactly the type of shit that shows there is too much money in green energy and it's become corrupted like every other industry. This shit is a joke.

>2017
>roads

Where are the flying cars the Jetsons promised us?

Should have built a roof with solar panels on it over the road.

Cant wait till i see the headline when a bunch of gypsies have trashed it to steal the wiring.

The Jetsons lived in a world without niggers. We are not yet that advanced.

ty for this

/thread

It's a technological pilot, showing that France is actually doing concret stuffs according Cop 21 Act.

We can blame France for a lot of things, but the ecological problem is taken seriously, and what a bunch of primates behind their long-time-ago-technological-pikot think doesn't really matter.

Should I remembers you these facts :

-a french invented the photovoltaic panel
-it isn't rentable but it shows a volonty of evolution
-it's actually good for the economy, the panels are french made, and yes, the result of political collusions gave birth to a lot of employement, despite of an obvious product of loby.

I rather see something like this than a fucking subvention for Tsahal.

That's cool and all, but can tell me why this technological pilot is better than simply putting solar panels on roofs of buildings?

why wouldn't you just build them, I don't know, beside the fucking road

Fucking hell you'd probably generate more power by burning fucking bank notes instead.
This is completely bonkers

Will they see the "truck of peace" comming this time?

bouffon

>Green enegery has been a dead end for years fuckface. Millions and millions of dollars in grants given to shit professors and sbirs and nothing to show for it.

Fixed

Doing an effort is good and all, but if the effort is idiotic then...

It'S MORE EFFICIENT FOR SOLAR PANELS TO BE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT EITHER AT AN ANGLE OR MOTION TRACKING THE SUN.

THESE SOLAR ROADWAYS ARE FLAT ON THE GROUND, COVERED BY THE CAR'S SHADOW, PLUS THE GLASS/PLASTIC COATING ON TOP WILL CAUSE GLARE AND CHIP AWAY EASILY.

THIS MEANS MORE MAINTENANCE = MORE MONEY SPENT

>a french invented the photovoltaic panel
it means shit all if you don't utilise it cost effectively, you fucking french fagguette

>this went out of style

>I rather see something like this than a fucking subvention for Tsahal.

I rather see something like this than a fucking subvention for Tsahal.

I'm sure it's not 100% french.

inb4 update motherboard of that system must be taken in Tel aviv.

/n/ reporting in.

Because you can't loot the highway fund, charge the state for maintainance, and property owners expect to get the power on their roofs.

While this idea is obviously full retard, there's some variants that aren't quite so crazy. You might be able to replace some power transmission with it, or melt a little snow.

The less retarded version might be the sidewalk type.

It's still a hell of a long way from prime time, and it may never work.

Fucking retarded, will just end up a net drain.

I thought it got this was a fucking joke.

It would be nice if somehow they could harness the power of all the vehicles on the roads combined with sunlight to heat them during the winter.

>Volonty
>Short term waste of money is good for the economy
This project reeks of mismanagement and everyone is shitting on it because the money could have been put in far far better, actually profitable places

Blame pedowood.

Very good point, fellow baltic.

First of all, I'm not an road engineer.
I'd define myself as passionate science man.

So let's extrapolate want you.

Roads are one of the most important infrastructure in a country, it allows : merchandise streams, people movement and other basic things.

From there, we know that roads have to be reliable, rentable. So the country or private societies have to operate maintenance on thousands of roads on a daily basis.

So if the maintenance costs a lot (exactly the same for houses, built and maintain stuff) the evolution works in that way : merge multiple technologies.

Today even Solar panels on buildings are dear enough to let it sink in a black hole. But in 20 years, the industry will supply cheap Solar panels, enough to build roads (one of the most important feature for a country, built everyday) with it.

My oncle put Solar panels on his house. I promise you, he regrets it deeply.

But let's be honest, you can't compare an industrial potential with domestic uses.

Take the ISS on exemple, the only electricity supply comes from Solar panel, because it's the less costly way of producing electricity power in space.

One day it may be the road Solar panels.

That's actually the fonction of a technological pilot, we go forward then we'll see.

Does that cost more than 5 million for repairing one road?

we cant even fucking keep regular roads up and running without potholes. Solar roads are the most retarded meme green fags have ever come up with

>This project reeks of mismanagement and everyone is shitting on it because the money could have been put in far far better

This.

How many refugees we could saved with that money ?
Terrible.

You need to give every refugee a truck license and vehicle insurance.

It's fucking retarded and useless

Va enculer tes vaches et compter tes pièces d'or ailleurs

Nothing is 100% local

>the money could have been put in far far better, actually profitable places

Like refugee borhouses I suppose

FUCK SAKE

Or maybe not putting them in fucking Normandy you shitstained buffoon.
What kind of mongoloid cretin puts a massively expensive solar based technology where the weather is either cloudy or very cloudy ?

>the French really are actually retarded enough to actually do this
>it probably has shit adherence and turns into an ice skating rink as soon as it gets a bit wet

To be serious,

It's a tradition with the leftist. When they don't do fake social politics (like give more money to immigrants) they do this fake actions.

Unuseful and anti popular.

Who can be surprise that's fucking segolene who bring the shit ?

>woman's idea
