In the good old days it was a place full of little huts selling Christmas foods, mulled wine, and presents. You'd meet friends there, kids could ride on a carousel and you could get a nice Christmas feel.
Now it's a place full of pickpockets, the police is walking around with machine guns and you're conatantly worried about terrorist attacks.

A Proud european christian tradition where market stalls sellChristmas stuff, you can buy mulled wine/roasted chestnuts etc and bring your kids since there will be rides/entertainment etc but in the past few years it's been ruined dude to fear of the mudshits attacking - at one in my city this week they had officers armed with G36s amongst the crowds, security everywhere ect.
It's one of the last Western European traditions where bongos/mudshits arent allowed to take part and they have succeeded in ruining it anyways.

Used to be really cosy things Germany has. You could buy there food, some alcohol, presents and sit around and chat with other people as it usually was encouraged. Just talk about every day things or christmass. Which made these type of markets quite nice to be at.
