The entertainment industry is one of the primary means of social control. Being willfully ignorant of what's going on there doesn't help you or anyone else. At the very least you would like to know what socialization they are trying to push, would you not? By actually paying attention you can even start to find the chinks in the armor before any sort of debates it might cause come up. If you're viewing Hollywood as nothing more than a means for the Jew to generate cash for itself, then sure ignoring it entirely makes sense. But that would be short sighted.
