If this movie didn't get taken up into the Christmas movie canon (it doesn't even involve Christmas until an hour in, and it just happens to take place on Christmas Eve) then people wouldn't watch it year after year. But it's very fortunate that it worked out this way. It's a great, entertaining movie and puts genuine goodness on full display.
