Intimidation and show of force.

To make it costly for Americans to stay in Pacific and to signal the end of American influence in Asia.

>A FUCKING RAMP

Trying to figure out how aircraft carriers work.

>A FUCKING RAMP

Would it be minority amusing to help a 3rd party nation to sink their entire caiier fleet?

>ramp
Nothing serious desu

>ramp
Must be some kind of top secret exercise involving salvaging crashed planes from water.

They've been doing it the last few decades. This is now mainly a show of force as well as signaling that status quo has changed.

fuck it's too early

>Ramp intensifies

That thing looks like shit. Can aircraft even land on it once it is out of planes or does it have go to go to port to restock?

A shitty secondhand Soviet carrier bought from Ukraine changes absolutely nothing.

It's just used as a training ship and for propaganda purposes like this (which you are evidently stupid enough to be influenced by)

After we invited Chinese officials to tour one of our carriers a few years ago, (which they requested for years and we finally granted them after they invited Sec Def Chuck Hagel to tour theirs) the Chinese state-run press complained that the tour was designed to humiliate them because our carrier is so far superior to theirs.

We must combat this rampant Chinese aggression

A

FUCKING

RAMP

ASSISTED TAKEOFF

>A FUCKING RAMP

They have 1 carrier, and it is not even a good one at that. Tell me when they get at least 5 so I can say that they have officially changed the status quo.

Its original use was "casino", then it changed to "training ship". If you understand anything its that this isn't a casino ship nor a training ship, its much more. Its a force demonstrator. They're building two others right now with modern designs. This one is also modernized by the PRC.

The Chinese need not the state of the art carriers like we do, but enough to pose threat to their neighbors, which this thing is doing more than enough. Two more of these will rattle the neighbors into asking more US help. US might or might not be able to keep up with them, atleast in Asia. We can maybe deploy 3-4 carriers at a time, but to station 2-3 in Asia would be waste lots of our resources.

I just feel sorry for the naval town that had to deal with that many off deck sailors at once

The docks get paid handsomly

>Liaoning
>24 J-15s with a max payload of 31 tons ea.

>USS Ronald Reagan
>55 fixed wing aircraft with potential max payload of 50 tons ea.

The same thing they plan every day Pinkie, try to take over the world!

They're going to show just how ridiculous their aircraft carrier looks

Getting their asses kicked.

That is the biggest naval base in the world, Naval Station Norfolk.

Can this be a Naval fleet image thread now?

they are sabre rattling because they know that if it ever came to a shooting war they would be obliterated

they dont want war with usa anyway, think how bad it would be for business

If you want

They don't want a war, but they will rattle anyway because US doesn't want a war.

Between the two powers, the little asian countries get scared enough to rattle the regional status quo.

"China is close to strong as US now" "Might as well get on their good side else we'd be fucked"

If US ever abandons Taiwan, this will further signal more discord. "Fuck US can't defend Taiwan, how are we going to defend against China. Might as well join them now or else get fucked by tarrifs/military threat"

Sick

Saving everything

cool photo but makes me feel like i am about to fall

How much longer until China copies Zumwalt?

Why is that guy dangling from a fixed wing plane on a string? What are we looking at?

kek i think it is a helicopter

>current year
>still proud of owning an aircraft carrier
kys china

High wire fast roping. There are two types of Fast Roping, 1 is the normal close to the LZ and the, 2 is a few hundred feet higher

Why copy something that's a failure?
Oh, China.

They're finally going to annex Japan and restore their once former glory.

Someone explain the whole ramp meme? Sounds like the logical way of getting planes in the air.

China is trying to copy the Gerald R Ford too

>Russia PUTPUTPUTs Europe
>China PUTPUTPUTs the US

It says 69 on the flight deck

Zone 69

Heh heh heh

It is, but there are more "modern" way like electromagnetic.

Sorta like gas engine vs electric engine deal.

China isn't India. They don't spend billions on "force demonstrators" or buying Russian junk just show off only to replace it with new Russian toys every few years.

Its a technology testbed for next new carriers and training ship all trough.

By the time the first CATOBAR with serious force projection cababilities is launched they will have an entire crew ready to field it with half a decade experience of running and maintaining a ship and already live tested peripheral components like defense systems, radards, maintenance and support craft and so on and enough shipyards eningeers who can build, maintain and repair these ship in multiple places

So ramp = no electro magnetic catapult?

The ramp lets them launch 1 plane every 6 minutes while the catapults let them launch a plane every 30 seconds. Also the catapult let's the plane be far heavier at launch and still successfully take off, without it planes can't be fully loaded with fuel and still be light enough.

Never. Because even China has quality standards ROROROR

China
6 Aircraft carriers including 2nuclear-powered is planned.

China military official says "Our Aircraft carriers protect China's national interest and World will submit to Great China in future naturally"

Probably just testing it to see that it won't sink. Probably why they won't go near the south pacific or indian ocean since a single machine gun from a Somali pirate could sink it.

to get sunk

Will China have the same smoke problem?

>China is trying to copy the Gerald R Ford too

they probably have stolen the plans long ago anyway.

Is Japan going to sit there and let that shit happen?

China Foreign Affairs official requests to international society for follwing "the freedom of navigation"and International law.

also China official says "World should respect China's right"

I feel like they just take pictures and wikipedia entries and try to copy the ship that way. It looks like when China copies something, they copy it and they don't know what they are copying or why, but all they know is that it is there.

>World should respect China's might
Fixed

They've hacked bunch of defense contractors years ago and are still doing it these days.

well if you actually look at the current stuff they had -> their J-15 fighters are copies of the SU-33 which they bought one early prototype from the Ukraine and stole the rest from russia.

They also betrayed the russians with the J-11, it would have been a licensed SU-27, they just stopped after 100 planes and than magically "released" their on J-11B because russian planes was "not up to their standards".

Planning nothing.

We can sink that ship with the single press of a button from hundred of miles out and there's nothing they can do.

Of course, China also has missiles that could sink American aircraft carriers, so it's just small-scale MAD.

China tests 5th-generation stealth fighter, cheaper competitor to US F-35
rt.com/news/371835-china-tests-stealth-fighter/

Dont know, because as a western "male", the thought of conquering has been bred out of us so we dont expect our friends from all over the world to have any bad intentions. Why ever would they attack us?

>CVN
Do they even have nuclear ssbn's? Fucking wew, that's going to be a shit show.

>Of course, China also has missiles that could sink American aircraft carriers, so it's just small-scale MAD.

We let China think that. America always has a "surprise left" to defend against such things that no one knows about.

Well, China and Russia aren't stupid enough to attack the US Navy., at least not directly. That incident with the Iranians was pretty embarrassing though.

2018-2019: Finish constructing three aircraft carriers
2020: Can now reasonably conquer Taiwan by force
2025: Renminbi now a global reserve currency
2030: Can easily conquer Taiwan
2035: PLA outnumbers US forces in the Pacific; Chinese economy surpasses US in GDP (already has surpassed in PPP)
2049: Chinese economy twice size of US. China is now the hegemon of East Asia again, just in time for the 100th anniversary of the PRC
