The thing about doing certain rituals is that If you truly can summon spirits from the spiritual word or other dimensions, how do you know you're not damning yourself to hell, especially if you can communicate with demons? I picked up the idea up from Crowley and the knowledge and conversation with the HGA.
The idea is when you've advanced enough you need to look yourself away in isolation. It takes months for all of the residual mental apparitions to vanish. For example, I had about a month of being taken from my body by various entities and shown things.
