That's a good question, in my case it's a long story.
I was actually born in New Zealand which is where my mum's from but they bought me to London at two months of age, we lived in South London mostly in a lot of areas that were mostly black or mixed at the rate of about half non white half white.
When I was ten my mum decided she wanted to go home, I didn't want to becuase I loved Britain and always identified more as British (my dad's from Liverpool and mum's ethnically Irish so no Maori in her before you start)
I spent the age of ten until sixteen in NZ and the image I had in my head of Britain was picturesque and distorted, a childs view of Britain really, the stiff upper lip, the class, the regal aesthetic.
I spent a year in Australia before coming back where I started having stronger politcal beliefs after reading about the history of capitalism and how things came to be the way they are in general, I was leaning left before I came back to London.
When I got here it didn't feel like the Britain I remembered at all, where was the charm? Why is it so bleak why is everyone speaking a languague that isn't English? I wanted to come back to get back in touch with my British roots but there's no British culture here in London left?

Eventually I started learning about fascism. I'm currently reading Codreanu's book.
Also when I was younger in elementary school I got yelled at for questioning muh 6 million after some girl did some show and tell about her grandma who escaped Auschwitz. I was reading some WW2 books (mostly easy read war novels) and it never clicked how the Nazis could kill 6 million or why they would when they were fighting a two front war.
