Is it me, or do leftist hipsters either 1. Try to distance themselves from communism
or
2. Try to romanticize communism
So what is it, /leftypol/ + reddit lurkers. Is there a consensus that communism fails or do you still have wet dreams about living in Fidel Castro land???
>inb4 muh 11/10 cubans own a home >inb4 muh cuba has 148% literacy rate in order for everyone to read communist manifesto
Castro was a based nationalist. Shouldn't you people like him? He disallowed Cubans from leaving thus no immigration to America unless you defected.
Asher Myers
>to tribute of notables lost in 2016
Whether you like it or not, Fidel Castro is definitely a notable man. He almost single handily put Americans shitting their pants with the missile crisis and was the leader of one of the most remarkable regimes of the 20th century, and most certainly the most remarkable Latin american 20th century regime.
Asher Watson
When have lefties ever really distanced themselves from communists?
Did they just wait until society pressured them, and they said just enough to take the heat off of them?

The fact that most people on the street would have a vauge idea who the fuck you're talking about when you say castro makes him notable.

You can't really compare the notability of Fidel Castro and Kim Jung Un
Mason Wood
>most remarkable latin american 20th century regime >not pinochet gtfo

Tell me, where did those missiles come from? People were afraid of the missiles, not the irrelevant shithole containing them.
Caleb Gomez
>People were afraid of the missiles People were afraid of where the missiles were. American people knew very well that USSR had thousands of nukes.
So yes, it was Castro that made Americans shit their pants
Pinochet is only remembered by edgy right wingers online activists, people over 40, and of course, Chileans and South Americans in general
Henry Sanders
>Only because it's a strange sounding name >doubt 80% of the population could not distinguish between the name of the father and the current one
Sorry, nobody is stupid as you are. Pronunciation is the only reason anyone pays attention to North Korea's leader? Yeah, Americans are SOOO interested by korean names. Stay dumb.
>So? Other then memes no one gives a fuck about North Korea
And everyone's excited about Cuba? Really, now.
>You can't really compare the notability of Fidel Castro and Kim Jung Un
You literally said that Fidel Castro being included in the tribute is a result of "single handily putting americans shitting in there pants" and having a "remarkable regime".
Kim Jong Un ticks both of those boxes, dumbass.

Also celebration. Nobody likes commies until they are dead.

Nobody was afraid of cubans either. People were afraid of M.A.D. America wants Kim Jong Un gone, they can't do it. America wanted Fidel Castro gone, they couldn't do it.
But keep thinking that the Cuban regime is much more "remarkable", lol. You're fucking stupid- Cuba couldn't even have its own nuclear program without the soviets.

I'm starting to thin k you might be a Miami citizen...
>But keep thinking that the Cuban regime is much more "remarkable", lol. It survived in a completely hostile environment, surrounded by enemies and with the most powerful country in the world just 50 miles away constantly plotting to bring down the regime.
I think it's much more remarkable then being a China puppet that not even South koreans take seriously

Deflecting from the fact that soviet nukes were on his island
>I'm starting to thin k you might be a Miami citizen...
Not an argument.
>It survived in a completely hostile environment, surrounded by enemies and with the most powerful country in the world just 50 miles away constantly plotting to bring down the regime.
North korean sanctions, they have no friends etc etc.
We can call Fidel Castro a soviet puppet as well.

>And kim jong un would be its own news cycle if he died. Get real. And the international attention would be a fraction of the one that is being given to Castro.
Are you forgetting about the fact that the father of Kim Jong Un died a couple of years ago? And pretty much no one really cared about the guy. I bet you don't even know the guys name without searching.
>Deflecting from the fact that soviet nukes were on his island
I'm not deflecting lol. That is exactly the point. USSR could have tens of thousands of nuclear bombs, but as long as the bombs stayed in USSR there was minimal threat. But once those bombs were in 50 miles range of USA, the story is completely different. And this was only possible thanks to Fidel. I don't even know what you are trying to say.
>We can call Fidel Castro a soviet puppet as well.
No because the regime survived the fall of USSR
>getting this triggered over a word in the title of a youtube video with 200 views That is the definition of pathetic
Jordan Foster
>And the international attention would be a fraction of the one that is being given to Castro.
North korea is in international news FAR more often than Cuba, dumbass. Aside from the sanctions being lifted, Cuba doesn't get half the news headlines from the basket case in North Korea. Stay mad, though.
>Are you forgetting about the fact that the father of Kim Jong Un died a couple of years ago? And pretty much no one really cared about the guy. I bet you don't even know the guys name without searching.
Cute coming from the person who says he can't tell the difference between the father and son.
>I'm not deflecting lol. That is exactly the point. USSR could have tens of thousands of nuclear bombs, but as long as the bombs stayed in USSR there was minimal threat. Still nothing more than what North Korea has done- actually, North Korea can have its own nuclear program unlike Cuba.
>No because the regime survived the fall of USSR
But North Korea is a puppet of China dispite having rocky relationships in recent times. LOL okay. Meanwhile castro's only teeth are a gift from the soviets, but he isn't a puppet.
>That is the definition of pathetic >Responding to a comment that could have answered itself by reading the last reply

Liberals are communist, domestic enemies that will push their own cleansing.

Cuba is the only example of communism working relatively well, that is taking wealth from the rich and actually giving it to the poor and uplifting living standards. Havana was a cesspool of Jewish degeneracy until the Castro brothers kicked them out, with most of the wealth generated going to the dictator at the time.
Fidel wasn't great, but he was a lot better than the former dictator. And in the end, he at least acknowledged that centralized markets will never stimulate growth and encouraged his brother to implement more capitalist policies.
Fidel is the only commie I'll ever shill for, I recommend people look at the real facts and not just 'HURR DURR LE COMMIE' but seriously look at how it changed the lives of the people living in Cuba.
Easton Rivera
>Learn definitions of words
And where is his notoriety derived from? Soviet nukes.
Here's what you said first: >We were comparing personalities, not countries.
Stay stupid. Kim Jong Un's personality is exactly the same by your own definition.
Thanks for the confirmation of your retardation.
Lucas Thomas
Castro was based as hell.
Cuba is whiter and safer than most American cities. If "freedom" means the freedom to get Jewed out of everything you own and grab your ankles for niggers and faggots, I'll take Communism any day.
Parker Gomez
>And where is his notoriety derived from? Soviet nukes. That was my first point you tard. You can see it hereWhat the fuck are you arguing now? Are you just insulting me for the sake of it?
But his notoriety is not only derived from the nukes...
>Stay stupid. Kim Jong Un's personality is exactly the same by your own definition. ?????
lol what are you saying?
> by your own definition. What definition?
Logan Allen
>That was my first point you tard.
Exactly. So why are you pissing yourself when I point out that Kim Jong Un is at the same level of "notable" as Fidel Castro?
You're the idiot walking around in circles.
Then you said that we need to compare "personality".
Here's the definition that you prefer: >a person of importance, prominence, renown, or notoriety Kim Jong Un has the same level of notable "personality" by this definition.
Typical dumbass doesn't even know his own argument.
Jeremiah Long

He was pretty based, not even a lefty and I agree with that. He was a nationalist who secured his countries independence from (((American business))) and was staunchly anti-globalism. The only reason he implemented Marxism was because the USA was his number one enemy and he needed a strong ally against them.
Jordan Scott
Say what you will about Castro but he fought for his beliefs and won. Not just that but he was able to survive countless assassination and coup attempts by the most powerful military in the world, all from a little Island in the Caribbean. He died a warrior and a champion for his cause. A truly Honorable Death.
Like it or not he was one of the most important figures in the 20th century.
Julian Collins

>Kim Jong Un has the same level of notable "personality" by this definition. lol wat? I cannot understand what you are saying.
You are just arguing for the sake of arguing, i don't even know what you are trying to say.
Fact remains Castro was one of the most famous statesmen in the 20th century, and is in no way comparable to kim jung un or whatever north korean puppet you want to invent.
Ryder Brooks
>lol wat? I cannot understand what you are saying.
It's because you're too incompetent to rub together two brain cells. It's literally plain english.

Keep trying to deflect from the fact that these two are both notable for the nukes and regimes- and SO are comparable.
Dumbass. Stay stupid.
