>I hate the term political correctness, the way in which speech that is found to be unpleasant or offensive is often banned from universities. Which is exactly where speech that is potentially hurtful and offensive should be heard. >I've spent a lot of time in gun-country, God-fearing America. There are a hell of a lot of nice people out there, who are doing what everyone else in this world is trying to do: the best they can to get by, and take care of themselves and the people they love. When we deny them their basic humanity and legitimacy of their views, however different they may be than ours, when we mock them at every turn, and treat them with contempt, we do no one any good. Nothing nauseates me more than preaching to the converted. The self-congratulatory tone of the privileged left—just repeating and repeating and repeating the outrages of the opposition—this does not win hearts and minds
A liberal that gets it. What are Sup Forums's thoughts on Bourdain?
Always enjoyed his shows. Tho they are getting a little preachy now, still very good.
Brody Nelson
He's always been reasonable in his political opinions. It's definitely CNN who's been trying to pander him more to their audience.
Oliver Price
This is cherry picked crap. Liberals love to give lip service. Post the rest faggot.
>"We should be breaking bread with each other, and finding common ground whenever possible." >And Bourdain does not hide the fact that he will not eat at any of Trump’s new restaurants at his D.C. hotel, nor would he dine with the president-elect. >“Absolutely f---ing not,” he replied on the question of dining with the president-elect.
Ryder Rodriguez
> Absolutely f---ing not Based
Jeremiah Morris
Anthony Bourdain: "Every restaurant in America would shut down" if Trump won
Tyler Diaz
t. Hillary
Jaxon Jackson
maybe he just doesnt like Trump
what is it with some of you trumpfags on the internet, you are almost as thin skinned as trump himself
>behead those who insult trump
Grayson Myers
His food show is great.
Austin Russell
> yfw Hillary dined with Trump
Jordan Cooper
His reasoning for not eating at those restaurants is solid. He does have a background in kitchens. His reason is that he isn't gonna patronize chef's who want half of the ppl they've worked with deported.
Because anyone who has ever worked in a kitchen knows there's tons of Mexicans and many undocumented. Those chefs had no prob with them then.
Jaxson Taylor
Tony's always been alpha as fuck, his shows are pretty good
Jace Morris
First he was "our guy", then he wasn't "our guy." I don't know who to believe anymore. Just a confused goy.
Asher Perry
>implying that Trump is just some guy he doesn't like.
He's against everything that Trump stands for, so he is also against me. Don't you have a queen to go pray for?
David Thompson
i like bourdain, hes well spoken, and i like his book kitchen confidential. however, ever since CNN picked up his show. its been really political this past season...obama interviews in vietnam...two! and interviewing butthurt brits in londonistan about brexit. more food and debauchery, less politics. ty
Ian Johnson
He was at his best on Travel Channel. Some of the eps of his CNN show are unwatchable.
William Powell
>What are Sup Forums's thoughts on Bourdain? His shows are 10/10 on the comfy scale.
I don't typically agree with him on his views, but quotes like the one you posted solidifies my expectation that I could have an enjoyable time hanging out with him, with civil discussion on how we see things differently.
When I was in high school, a geography/history professor showed us an episode of "No Reservations" every week. It was a great way to get angsty teens actually interested in another culture, by exploring it through food.
He's said some things that I really REALLY don't agree with, but overall I like the guy.
Noah Reed
>Those chefs had no prob with them then.
But the rest of America does. E-verify will stop the job theft that Bourdain built his career off of.
Chase Perry
Right, but that's his reason and it's fair. Bourdain, as a guy who spent most of his life working in kitchens, doesn't want a lot of his old friends deported. It adds up. I don't agree with him, but he at least has solid reasoning behind his stance.
Gabriel Gonzalez
All of you people are faggots.
Anthony Bourdain is a kike
hope the liar satanist puppet nigger loses every penny and becomes a fry cook
Austin Clark
>Anthony Bourdain is a kike
No he isn't
Dominic Anderson
god you are mongoloid tier kek
Liam Adams
bourdain is a kike apologist pos at the end of the day
you are now breathing manually
Wyatt Flores
>enjoy his shows immensely >disagree with him politically >commend him for having the stones to not want to censor opposing views
Don't feel as bad about watching his shows anymore desu.
Caleb Gonzalez
i dont like him because he mocks vegans and by extension shits on all the animals who suffer for his gluttony and indulgence, guys a piece of shit I'd like to stick a steel rod down his throat and make some liver pate
fucking french socialist snob
Jace Ward
True. He did exploit his old friends though. He also cheated the US out of who knows how much income tax. Chickens are coming home to roost, and instead of hanging his head in shame, he becomes a loud mouth.
Anthony Carter
that was literal fake news put forward by the cia to discredit us and start the whole fake news narrative
Jordan Rogers
Y'all missed the best part:
>The utter contempt with which privileged Eastern liberals such as myself discuss red-state, gun-country, working-class America as ridiculous and morons and rubes is largely responsible for the upswell of rage and contempt and desire to pull down the temple that we're seeing now.
Daniel Gonzalez
>unironically gives money to a retarded inbreed "queen" to keep her in the lifestyle she is accustomed to.
Aiden Wood
Not gonna lie that's pretty psycho m8.
Nathan Diaz
I've always liked him. I don't really care about his politics, his television shows have always been exceptional in my opinion. He knows how to dial back his own pretentiousness and be down to earth when he needs to be, which is a quality that is exceedingly rare in human beings.
Ayden Hill
i cant stand liberal foodies like him who are great social justice crusaders but ignore the plight of animals all together, i despise them
Asher James
You're absolutely right. We don't have to all agree, what counts is that we learn through polite and rational discussion with each other.
Josiah Jones
buddy, anything these liberals write now after they have lost is worthless. it's all gone the second they start winning again. he should have written this before the election
Michael Harris
It was a solid episode. Anthony ate the shit out of that tranny ass. Talk about 'finger foods' hah.
Brayden Clark
Universities are commie indoctrination camps. I cannot respect any man who hasn't realized as much.
How I see him: >His show, No Reservations, was a perfect diatribe on the snoby food culture, and was meant to enhance the viewers knowledge of how gastronomy plays into our lives. >Parts Unknown was a cocktail of politically fuelled, social justice bullcrap that echoes the descent CNN, and Bourdain, have fallen to.
Chase Flores
But if the Mexicans hadn't been allowed in, there would be tons of Americans in the kitchen.
That's really the issue, isn't it? People keep trying to turn it into a critique of Mexicans.
Carter Torres
He's a kike junkie, his shows are alright sometimes but his cosmopolitan hurrr so worldly attitude is grating after a while. He's always with these faggy bourgeoisie types in these countries too.
Xavier Rogers
>A liberal that gets it. Yet he won't go to restaurants if the chef is a Trump supporter because >muh illegal kitchen mexicans r gud bois n dindu nuffin >btw look here I have a document saying Trump hired foreign workers legally omg
Hunter Mitchell
He said Beirut is his favorite ever destination. He looks to genuinely love it here and he gets the culture. I think hes intelligent.
Ryder Cook
But I'm okay with people who have different opinions. I don't want to end up being the right's SJWs.
There are the ppl who want to boycott anything Trump related cuz omg he's the next Hitler xenophobic racist misogynist white nationalist nazi! And those ppl are fucking retards.
But when someone like Bourdain says he wont eat at restaurants if the chef voted Trump and is asked why, he gives a well reasoned response to support his stance. That is fine.
Julian Bell
yeah, as much as I flipped out on election night with the win I woudn't actually want to eat with Trump
Christian Sanders
Hes a druggie closeted gayboi who loves to be a hipster, but at the same time denounces them constantly. So basically your typical hipster. Aging wannabe rockstar that got a show.
Sebastian Phillips
he's shit now that he's on CNN loved his earlier work
Robert King
Trump likes his steaks well-done. I wouldn't eat with him either.
Ethan Lee
> chefs and the weight of their opinion
you do realize that at any point when he speaks someone could interrupt just to place an order?
Colton Lopez
Doesn't he have a wannabe MMA-fighting wife whom he showers with money to pursue her dumb dream yet who cucks him at every turn?
Levi Thompson
I like Bourdain. If I could sit down and have a conversation with someone who's alive for an hour, he'd be in my top 3.
It's a shame he's on CNN and they've pushed him to be more political. I liked his shows more when he'd just go to other countries, film shit and talk.
Cameron Hall
Personally the lebanon episode was my favorite, although that was a little preachy even for 2006
Ryan Nguyen
lol, you can keep the denbts today greece
Gabriel Miller
Hasn't done anything ANYTHING good since Kitchen Confidential and a Cook's tour.
Everything after these has been lifestyle genre garbage
