220 mile (350 km) high speed rail connecting Casablanca and Tangiers is in final phase of preparation with test train runs and is set to open for revenue service in 2017.
Morocco is using TGV trains licensed from France travelling at 200 mph (320 km/h).
Why can't America?
>inb4 Acela -- there are hardly any section it can actually travel at high speed because U.S. is too fucked to build a dedicated high speed track
Canada doesn't have the population density necessary for high speed rail to be economically viable.
The U.S. has more than high enough population density along the Northeastern Corridor (Boston-New York-Philly-DC), California (SF-LA), and Chicago-Milwaukee.
Oliver White
Self-driving cars and hyperloop less than a decade away.
>muh high speed trains. >a century behind tech wise >progress
Easton Walker
>hyperloop less than a decade away
Is this what tech-illiterates really think?
Ethan Richardson
China is the master of the world.
Jace Moore
Canada is in america you pleb
Mason Barnes
Americans don't like public transportation. Almost everyone here has a car, there is no need for a giant network of trains.
It's not too complex, American's like their cars
Luis Rivera
What if only whites were allowed on high speed trains?
Samuel Murphy
>Morocco is using TGV trains licensed from France travelling at 200 mph (320 km/h).
Can shitskins do something by their own ?
Levi Johnson
Fusion, still only 30 years away!
Oliver Young
ask yourself
Liam Carter
Fusion is always 30 years away sadly.
Juan King
>there's a filthy fucking Moroccan right now pretending to be Canadian
We need to fix this country.
Colton King
>hyperloop >Falling for the 1000 mile vacuum tube meme Not going to happen ever
Brandon Williams
Congrats, first-ally!
Adam Edwards
neither does fucking Morocco but apparently you think they're worthy of emulation
Jace Harris
>Je maintiendrai
Blake Garcia
implying Canadians aren't the ones that need to be fixed.
Jose Hughes
>Moroccan fleeing their vermin cesspit trying to pretend they're the cure and not the disease
Fucking disgusting.
John Foster
No high speed rail is economically viable which is why the us doesn't build them
Henry Foster
How long before muslims bomb it?
Sebastian Foster
White countries no longer have the grid to complete any large projects. The Apollo program put people on the moon within 8 years. Today, White countries are barely able to maintain their infrastructure.
Henry Miller
The original man is a "shitskin". Mutant albino skins (so-called whites) wouldn't be here. You do know that mutants are inherently weaker than the original stock. Are you jealous of your father????
how much percent of the population can even afford to use it ? 1%? the only thing trains are really good for in my opinion is cargo transport. going somewhere with train in germany ( not even high speed train) is rather expensive so i prefer not to do it a lot.
Joshua Thompson
Dear America-kun
You can buy our fastest train.
Leo Morales
Looking pretty good desu
Ryder Robinson
Can..can it transform?
Camden Rogers
This is why airlines are ok for the most part
Grayson Morgan
We have planes
Chase Adams
>ducktrain
kek
Luke Collins
looks cool
Colton Sanchez
We have Acela on the east coast. It won't go 300 mph or anything but it gets us around.
Aiden Ortiz
>fastest train >still slower than a plane Do plebs actually think trains are better?
Juan Collins
Here in Sicily we have railroads from ww2, fucking north african are now more rich than us..fuck...
Nolan Green
Why not use a sub orbital shuttle? >fastest plane >still not faster then a sub orbital shuttle
Kayden Campbell
You would have modern rail by now if your entire region didn't collaborate with Mafia.
Henry Wright
>Americans don't like public transportation. >What is planes
It's not about speed tho. Trains are more efficient in every way if you compare them to an airplane. It's basically 75% of your profits you have to reinvest to keep the plane airborne. For 1/4 the amount of passengers and twice the speed of a high-speed train. Also when travelling from Casablanca to Tangiers by plane, you probably lose all time benefits in the boarding process.
Jason Phillips
Trains are for jews.
Jacob Fisher
Americans always find excuses for why they can't do what others have been doing for 50 years.
And railways need governement gibs to even make profits.
Angel Torres
>implying that the State never collaborated with the Mafia Sure, next you'll say that Mafia exsisted from ancient time, despite we don't have a fucking single reference until the "MUH RISORGIMENTO, MUH GARIBALDI", oh wow what a pure coincidence.
Carson Butler
US build transcontinental railroad 147 years ago.
Jace Green
Yeah, and they walked to the moon barely 50 years ago, but now they've turned into losers with a no can do spirit. All you hear from them is excuses for why they can't do what others did.
Carter White
It's not just them. It's all White countries. Poland has only the illusion of growth because you are still catching up in many areas. In a few years it will feel idle, too. Our civilization is in hard stagnation
Daniel Miller
Meanwhile if we want to build a high speed rail from two of Australian major cities it would take 40 years.
Robert Powell
>Says the pole Our drill, is the drill that will pierce the heavens!
Thomas Phillips
The picture... it's so dense.
Levi Richardson
That's a TGV, it was retarded since the beginning, it's only purpose was to give work to hordes of SNCF mechanicians for decades. It's a pure syndicate project, 100% French madness, whith astronomic costs... I'm amazed some foreign countries bought it.
Nicholas Jenkins
It's much faster for shorter distances.
Brody Jones
Why can't Israel
Gavin Cook
>hurr we need to get to the airport two hours before the plane takes off >spend at least half an hour exiting the airport on arrival
>get to the train station 10 minutes before it leaves >when arrived you just walk right out
Jeremiah Cox
Anyone taking bets?
Landon Sanchez
This, hyperloop is faster and costs a tenth of the price of high-speed rail.
>It's basically 75% of your profits you have to reinvest to keep the plane airborne. Modern airliners have 18-19 lift to drag ratio. This means that they spend only 5-6% of fuel energy to keep plane airborne.
Oliver Miller
>fuel litres >TGV If you take a TGV in France it's nuclear power propelling you at high speed.
Which reminds me >be American >hurr we can't have high speed trains it's too hard >hurr we can't have nuclear power it's too hard
Christian Barnes
if its close enough to go with the train i use my car. if its farther away i use a plane.
Evan Perez
From the article: >Assuming the continuing dominance of fossil fuel-based electricity, the study indicates that suitable French-style rolling-stock would require twice as much fuel per seat as a Volkswagen Passat, and more than a short-haul aircraft.
You do realize high speed rail can be powered by nuclear power plants, no?
William Bennett
>planes >falling for the heavier than air flying device meme Not going to happen ever
Matthew Watson
>You do realize cars and aircrafts can be powered by nuclear power plants, no?
Sebastian Howard
but they're not, whereas TGVs have been powered by nuclear plants for decades
Jaxson Kelly
Do Moroccans poo in loo?
Jack Myers
They're not though.
>inb4 some Tesla electric car shit >inb4 some experimental plane from the Soviet era
Luis Harris
poopoos in the couscous
Gavin James
>Japan has literally offered to build a maglev cross country for the US >US declines Can somebody explain the reasoning behind this
James Baker
How do we stop this stagnation?
Adrian Rodriguez
Airline and car lobby.
Jackson Evans
>maglev >Japan is currently planning to build a Maglev line (Max speed 500 kmph) between Tokyo and Shin Osaka(~500 kms) at an estimated cost of 9 Trillion Yen >$150 fucking MILLIONS per kilometer of road Wew, lad.
Landon Miller
Fascist Totalitarianism, I think
Lucas Richardson
Friendly reminder that up until the 1960's, the U.S had the most efficient light rail / streetcar system in the world. Then General motors bought all the tram lines up under dummy companies and deliberately let them rot away until they were gone from the big cities entirely.
They were caught but got off with a slap on the wrist.
The Cold War did wonder for space exploration. Now America doesn't seem to give a shit, they don't even send their spacemen themselves. In the meantime China is planning to build their own space station and are doing some good progress on their fusion reactor.
Even in Japan, travel by airplane is far cheaper/faster than the shinkansen. The bullet trains only benefit is that you can hop on at a train/subway station just like a regular car, no need to check bags, go through security, check-in, etc like with an airport.
Gavin Fisher
Fucking Caltrain, thought I could take the train to San Jose in peace and get some work done. train car was full of noisy, smelly niggers and the speed was barely above that of a bus. Next time I'll just rent a car.
Eli Wilson
Portland has excellent light rail
Ian Rogers
Streetcars are literally communism tier
Isaiah Kelly
Ya. But how early do you have to arrive at the airport to get through security and baggage check?
Not to mention when you get there, the pain staking process of getting your baggage once you finally make it off
Isaiah Smith
man thats going to cost a lot when trump bombs it
Jayden Ortiz
Don't drop that champagne
Nolan White
Not to mention the time it takes to get from the airport to your actual destination.
Mason Perez
The drawback is that the hyperloop doesn't exist yet
Liam Peterson
No, it hasn't.
New York, Washington, San Francisco, Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago are the only American cities with serious public transport and all those cities suck.
David Young
>The bullet trains only benefit is that you can hop on at a train/subway station just like a regular car, no need to check bags, go through security, check-in, etc like with an airport. There is big place for improvement here, in the security system. With end goal of making getting on plane same fast and simple. Too bad it will require profiling of passengers that could be called as "discrimination". Liberals don't allow us to have good things.
Grayson Lopez
Fun fact, Chicago used to have streetcars. Lot of crazy shit beneath the city. First you have the old mail train tunnels (abandoned), then the streetcar tunnels below them (abandoned), then the water drainage tunnels. Would make for a good horror film.
