Communism is the next stage of humanity following the capitalist stage.
What exactly is communism according to Marxist-Leninists:

When the capitalist class has been completely vanquished, there will be only one class, the working class, and eventually the functions of the state will become indistinguishable from the functions of the society as a whole, and the state as such will 'wither away' as Marx said.

The end result of communism is ALWAYS hell on earth. There has never been even a single instance of a successful communist society in the entire history of mankind. The problem is that once all the "bourgeoisie" are dead, the party will then start focusing on anyone who's life doesn't completely suck. Then when everyone with even a slight bit of happiness in their lives are gone, then true communism begins, eternal suffering for everyone, at least until the country collapses and can then start rebuilding.

The aspect of Marx's ideas that is, to me, most obvious is that capitalism creates so much money that we must come up with ways to destroy it. Bombs, marketing, billion dollar political campaigns, these are all ways to destroy billions of dollars for no reason. They are highly inefficient ways to make jobs too. We have so much more money than we need and yet we refuse to just give it to each other to help divorce work from survival. There is no reason for us to have poor in the U.S. except our desire to have an underclass we can shit on and profit off of.
I don't think we are ready for communism, but I think we need to start thinking rationally about our capitalism.
