We are forced to learn english in school, but the language itself isn't that difficult to learn so it's taught all around the world which makes it usefull I guess.

English is the international language of business. Also, it's a Germanic language so it's very easy for us Swedish to learn.
As a native speaker I can't really judge that. There are a lot of foreigners who complain about it though, so there have to be people that are having troubles learning this language.

As a native english speaker, learning german in high school and university really enhanced my understanding and awareness of english grammar. A lot of the quirks of german syntax and structure are more subtly implied in english.

Almost everyone in every country ends up learning English at some point because most influential media is in English. It's generally a pretty good "standard" language because accents don't impair pronouncation too much, so that you can understand anyone who speaks it decently.

To get back to the point, I spent a lot of time with videogames(online), hobbies(that I had to use the internet for) on the internet growing up, I also love movies and watch them exclusively in the original language(even if its cantonese, which I like actually), so it kind of came natural to me, I would be terrible at English if it wasnt for my interests, and I dont spend a second on german websites.
