1) at the end of WW2, in 1947/1948, Europe was like "we should have a homeland for Jews, it will be called Israel, and it will be where Jews came from - Israel"
2) but there were already arabs living in that region
3) The "Partition Plan" of 1947 was to split the current Israel into an Israeli Jewish state and a new state called Palestine
4) the entire Arab world was like "fuck that"
5) Nation of Israel established anyway in 1947/48
6) No state of Palestine ever established because no arabs would agree to it
7) wars start immediately. Israel basically survives
8) The current "West bank" region was part of Jordan, called "Trans Jordan"
9) Israel prospers for 20 years.

In 1996, the Ministry of Public Security established the Fuerza Pública or Public Force, a gendarmarie which reorganized and eliminated the Civil Guard, Rural Assistance Guard, and Frontier Guards as separate entities. They are now under the Ministry and operate on a geographic command basis performing ground security, law enforcement, counter-narcotics, border patrol, and tourism security functions.
Outside the Fuerza Pública, there is a small Special Forces Unit, the Unidad Especial de Intervencion (UEI) or Special Intervention Unit, an elite commando force which trains with special forces from around the world, but is not part of the main police forces. Instead it is part of the Intelligence and Security Directorate (DIS) which reports directly to the Minister of the Presidency.
