How accurate are these DNA Ancestry Tests?

Better wait for one run by White people. Meanwhile you can research your ancestry through archives if you have those in the UK.

Willingly giving a company your dna so it can be entered into their (((database)))

Enjoy having your DNA in the police system even though you've never been arrested.

Looking in the mirror also works.

It was worth it for me

t. 99% European 1% Native Americuck

Theres one here in the US, but it's run by Mormons and they're literally storing peoples DNA in a giant underground bunker for genetic (((diversity))) if the world ends.

I wonder if anyone has gotten together groups of people with well known family trees and tested these services out anonymously. Would be a good documentary.

DO NOT GIVE COMPANIES YOUR DNA

fake they base their data on patterns and your physical place of birth rather than actual DNA data

They don't have ancestry data to compare with. They compare your DNA with the CURRENT population of countries and find similarities.

I did it and connected with some relatives. I found out I was 1.6% Jew though. Was devastating. Be prepared. You never know who your ancestors were fucking.

>thought i was white
>turns out i'm over half north african

>(((real value)))

jewish lies. I bet you're only 0.8% jewish but you felt a primal urge to say 1.6%

>What if you a jew?
That would be terrible ;-;

They're okay overall. I think that they labelled the regions wrong in some cases. Im Slav, with a few German ancestors. The test showed the slavic part, but it also said that I have British and Irish dna. I highly doubt that. My guess is that "British" and "Irish" mean probably Germanic and Celtic and come from the German ancestors. Another con is that they got your dna.

They are dangerously misleading.

I watched an advert with a man saying he thought he was Italian and later finding out he was mainly 'east European' which was Croatian.

Basically, he was an Italian, as once before, Croatia was Italian also, the country moved not the people, a blind DNA test with no context to the history is extremely misleading and purely designed to undermined a nationalist feeling.

"I'm 10% Islamic mate we all one race" bullshit will be rife.

They are only as accurate as the data sets against which your sample is being compared.

The genetics community takes serious issue with Autosomal results that use modern populations to define origin/ethnicity because they cannot possibly be accurate, and each inaccurate sample that is added to the dataset skews all future reporting. This is especially a problem with new world population which are heavily mixed and who rarely have a definitive record of their ancestors form all lines of the past 500 years.

The result is very noisy and skewed results.

But since it mostly marketing and ales rather than accuracy they are after, and to associate your genome with possible "cousins" it is good enough for their purposes.

But they should not be taken as 100% accurate.

I'm not joking.

>look at the chart i linked below and compare. the international society for genetic geneology says 23andme is twice as good as any oither for the money.
23 and me is the best one under 100$. ancestry doesn't look at X or Y chromosomes,b ut 23&me does, though ancestry looks at 700,000 autosome markers hile 23me looks at 600,000, it is worth it to see data from the Xand Y over 100k autosomal markers since both places return results within 2% of eachother, but 23nme has a conservative/pspeculative scale ancestry doesnt
23&me has the best overall rating of the 5 most popular DNA kits on the market, by far.

and yes, i've done it.

>My ancestors were white germans!

Only people of colour or 3rd worlders care about Acenstry because they are so desperate to get other people to like them.

>British and Irish

Any one in your family, or are you a brit living in Russia?
