Why haven't I been to MEPS yet?

So I'm planning on joining the Army. I'm not really sure what MOS I'd pick. According to the AFQT I score highest in Clerical so maybe I'd look into Human Resource Specialist (42A) or Infantryman (11X).

Anyways I met with recruiter, took the AFQT gave the recruiter my medical records on a previous surgery I had and that's it. I was told that whole process would take between 3 to 4 weeks. It's coming on three months now. I've been holding off on getting a job because I keep thinking they will call me any time. I shot an email to my recruiter and he said the wait could attributed due to the holidays or something, but three months??

I'm not sure what to do anymore. Should I be worried? Why is the process taking do damn long. I hate being left in the dark. I understand the military is about 'hurry up and wait', but I'm not even through door!

Some advice, words of comfort and discussions of those who went through this please chime in.

you won't be accepted. should try for the marines, they accept almost everyone.

Are you retarded?

The army recruits way more shitheels than the Marines.

t. AF veteran

The recruiter thought you were uninterested since you haven't been showing up to your weekly DEP meetings.

I was expecting a comment like this? Why do you think I won't be accepted? And no one in my family supports the Marines for some reason. They'd blacklist me. I barely convinced them about the Army.

Former jarhead.. Can confirm. My brother had a felony and the army took him but Marines didnt.

I had a battery as a minor and the AF wouldnt take me but mArines did.

>joining the army
>infantry
>selling your life to ZOG
Sorry about your stupidity, son.

If you can't get into the Air Force and kearney to fix multi million dollar medical equipment or fly aircraft, don't even bother.

Get a career and stop looking for a handout.

Unless of course you were raised by a single mother and have no idea how to be a man.

Learn a trade, pussy. You'll be a decade ahead of the curve in 5 years.

That's not it though. I haven't even taken the ASVAB or been to MEPS let alone enter the Delayed Entry Program.

The AF was my first choice actually. I got an elitist better than you attitude and all they had were mechanical jobs. I wanted options and the Army has them for me.

Assuming it all goes well the Military will be my career. I've literally nothing else. I appreciate your input however.

>I got an elitist better than you attitude from the AF recruiter
Fixed.

Bump

Bu-diddly-mp

Fuck off, welfare queen.

Get a real job you borderline institutionalized faggot.

just fuckin do it fag

Shut the fuck up in boot camp and don't volunteer for shit, even if they chew your ass out for it, you'll get chewed out for volunteering anyways.

When you're in the fleet or Big Army or whatever the fuck they call it, listen to your NCOs, be fucking man and don't rape any hookers you fuck.

If I come off as hostile it's only because this is how we talk to each other, you don't like it?

Fuck You

Faggot

Go EOD. No niggers.

We'll see what happens. I get where youre coming from but I want to serve my country. If it gets me a better life or a quicker death It'll be worth it.

Go visit him. Tell him you're interested. Also quit being a cuck

Do what exactly? Join the Army? If so then my path is set. I'm just in the fucking dark here waiting. Beyond that best advice I've gotten so far? Are you still serving by the way? What branch?

Why the fuck would you take the AFQT and not the ASVAB?

>Cuck
What the fuck are you even on about? I sent an email letting the recruiter know I am still interested and why I am still waiting.

You were probably a dumbass. You can get pretty neat jobs with low asf scores

I think your recruiter is fucking with you for some reason. Unless your surgery is something that requires a waiver, there shouldn't be any reason they won't run you through MEPS. Once you sign on the line it'll be months before you ship out, but MEPS is just preliminary stuff. No idea why your recruiter isn't taking you, but unless you need a waiver to join, he's just fucking around.

Start calling other branches and let him know you're doing it. He'll either get off his ass or someone else will take you there, and you can do all the shit. They get pretty butthurt if you don't sign up with the people who took you there, but you're totally allowed to tell the Navy guy that you'd rather go Army if the Navy recruiter takes you there, and you can pick an Army job that day.

So yeah, call other branches until you find somebody who'll take you or your recruiter gets off his ass. MEPS isn't the end, it's just more recruitment stuff, so there's no reason to delay the trip.

The AF said there weren't many vacancies for the field I was interested in. I don't really care to be frank.

42A

35P

35L

37F

Look at those jobs. Do not, I repeat, DO FUCKING NOT join combat arms or any other front line fighter MOS unless you are a football jock/major fit sports player with a decent head on his shoulders.

I have seen too many fuck sticks get chapter 13nd and removed from service because they thought "I'd be billy badass and be X job because it's combat."

2ndly: joining combat arms gives no future planning outside the military. You will only get 9 transferable credits towards college. Intelligence, Communications, Medic and Admin Clerks offer the highest with mechanics being a close second.

Plan for your fucking future before you join because I still know 3 dumbasses whom are homeless because they decided to be shit cans and join combat arms.

You want to conduct drone strikes on the enlisted side?
Get a 42 or higher in your electrical, congrats

t. Sensor whose suit mate got in with a 43 electrical and didn't qualify for SecFo

I mean last we spoke he said he shipped off my medical records to...wherever the fuck they go and he's waiting on THEM. We are both waiting basically. I don't know. Thanks for not being an asshole.

Great advice here, thank you. 42A is actually my main goal here. I hear joining combat arms can set you up for a Law Enforcement career. I'm not mad at that...but cops don't seem to be liked much if you catch my meaning.

You won't be serving your country, depending on your job you might get sent to the Sandbox to sit on your ass in Kuwait and guard convooys going out to ressuply "freedom fighters" or you'll sit on your ass in the barracks in between field ops.

Or maybe you might get a fight worth fighting with Trump as president, just watch out for yourself and the guys to your left and right, take care of each other no matter what because they're all you'll have for the next 4 years or career if you like it and stay.

I was in the Muhreens, been out for a couple months

Sure thing. And ah, it's probably some kind of possible waiver thing. I'd still start talking to other branches; it'll almost definitely speed things up. When I was enlisting, I was talking to the Army, and then I called the Marines. My Army recruiter found out about the call and was texting me within eight hours to lock down my schedule. Somebody who needs to approve your stuff isn't moving fast, but if your recruiter thinks he might lose you because some officer jackoff is jacking off, he'll be on the phone trying to make stuff happen.

Failing that, if somebody else gets you to MEPS, then you can do all the tests there and then do easy recruitment with anybody you want. Same ASVAB and medical screening no matter the branch, except the Marines want pull-ups, I believe.

If it is a waiver and we are both waiting then it doesn't seem like I can do a whole lot aside from hearing the equivilent of 'Holiday season slowdown and it's put of my hands'.

You know, I was thinking Navy, but I can't swim. Marines will get me blacklisted. For some reason my family doesn't want me to join. I had a hard enough time warming him up to the Army.

>tfw can't join the marines like my grandfather because of asthma

My grandfather slayed gooks in Korea & Vietnam.

I can only slay beers.

All I ever wanted to do when I was young was be a marine.
But it's over for me.

Sorry. I can only hope my story doesn't end this way. All I can do is wait...heh, getting pretty good at it. Yeah.

Ya never know. If your recruiter starts feeling like you're slipping away, a phone call to the office asking, "hey, can you guys take a look at this guy" might be all it takes. Or at least if you talk with the Navy you'll have two guys trying to get you to MEPS. And then if your waiver comes through all you have to do is sign. If it doesn't come through, then you've got the process started with the Navy.

I'd make a call to another branch's recruiter and let the Army guy know about it. You still might end up waiting, but it'll guarantee that shit's moving as fast as humanly possible.

Good advice. I'm actually working with the AF, too. Didn't mention it to the Army guy because I'm paying off this debt I didn't even know I had. It's not too big...but it's something of a hassle where as the Army already shipped my papers off the Air Force won't until I pay off a debt in collections...

DO NOT JOIN THE FUCKING ARMY DO NOT I'M WARNING YOU user DO NOT QUIT WHILE YOU STILL CAN FOR YOUR SAKE!

Whoa, hey. You can't just say something like that without an explanation...caps lock urgency or no. Besides it's either that or minimum wage. Life didn't exactly deal me the best hand so to speak.

Don't listen to him. The Army's not the greatest thing in the world, but it's not terrible. As an enlisted guy you'll spend a lot of time doing stupid bullshit, but they'll take care of you and you won't have trouble finding a girl to marry unless you're ugly or a loser.

When girls find out that the Army'll pay your rent / mortgage and give you money for food on top of your salary, you can hear the panties sliding to the floor. Just do what people tell you, don't be a shithead, don't be a buddy fucker, and you'll be fine. Even if you hate it it's only three years.

>POG

Stop this shit about chicks wanting you for being a soldier its the ones you can get right now.
I was in the army (13b) and its not worth it if you can't get deployed its better to just go to a tech school or get a trade job because when you get out of the army you still have nothing.

Right now the army is a dog and pony show and you have to be perfect. Its boring and every little thing leads to paperwork trying to chapter you.

>you have to be perfect

LOL Jesus christ. You literally have to not have a criminal record or be fat as fuck. Depressing to think that some niggers thinks those are unattainable standards.

Once you are in not getting in you retarded fuck.

Chicks like the benefits. And even if you don't get married, you can save money and go to school with the GI bill. Not sure why everyone was trying to chapter you out. Wasn't my experience. Did you fail pt?

>42a

Filled with lazy nigger females

>11X

Doesn't matter which type, b or c. It's a stepping stone for careerists. Good to get discipline, but nothing else. You'll be a good leader once you switch your mos.

If you're gonna do 11x, then sack up and get an Opt 40 too.

t. depfag 68w Opt 40

Opt 40fags are shit tier. Not real rangers.

>hurr you must be exp before you go to RASP to make for a better soldier

...I'm inclined to agree with you

But, cutting out Opt 40's is only gonna hurt recruitment. Especially considering commands aren't gonna let the A-lister Ranger types to drop a RASP packet and leave their unit.

If you are white do not go into admin you are the nigger there.

t. Am white was once 75B (42A for oldfags)

I switched to 35M. If you are smart and not a social retard you should think about it.

Aviation is good but hard work. Not all combat arms is bad. Medical is OK.

>Good for careerists
You mean you can make a career out of infantry? Or do 5 years as infantry and change your MOS? Is that even possible? It's something to think about if it is.

Are you a spooky 35M

I think he means change your MOS. it's hard to predict what they'll offer you when you're due to reup. It'll be like, "you've got no future in your current MOS. We'll make you a sergeant if you switch to ___, though."

There're careers in anything, but keep in mind that there are a lot more privates than sergeants, and a lot more sergeants than first sergeants. If you want to go for the long haul, you'll have to be flexible or awesome.

I mean, I'm half white/black so...Not like that means anything. Combat arms foes sound appealing. I've been looking into combat engineer.

Not any more I'm out son

Sounds like I could make a career out of Combat if I wanted...good to know.

Don't go admin anyway, that's the most cucked thing you could do. Never do a CSS job. Either be combat arms or combat support. You don't want to spend your whole career not getting a chance to shoot someone in the face or at least helping the door kickers shoot someone in the face do you?

Lots of people do. More don't than do, but that's true with every MOS. If you're consistently one of the better ones and get along with people you'll get promoted. Worry about that when the time comes. They'll either have a sergeant spot for you when you're signing up again or they'll make you switch to get it. Nothing's guaranteed, but if you get along with people and be one of the best, you can do anything you want.

Don't enlist man. I'm a marine midshipman going through ROTC right now and jesus fuck if I could leave I would be out in a second, and my starting pay is going to be $62K a year. Senior enlisted personnel are good people, but most junior enlisted are from the dregs of society. The officer class is pretty much completely comprised of welfare queens. I just want to kill shit and travel the world with other nationalists and i'm surrounded by absolute fucking retards. You get treated like shit as enlisted, and you get none of the benefits.

I mean that sounds cool. But I've been thinking of it all in a manner of 'What will I be able to do with what I learned here when I leave' you know?

Gtfo nigger

Just because you're not DEP'd in doesn't mean you can't go to the meetings.

Go to the meetings if you're serious about joining. When you're there you can talk to the recruiters and R.A.s about the life of a soldier and when your paperwork is going through. Be serious.

I was in the marines, had mixed experience with the recruiters. Any mos is what you make it, some will be harder or more dangerous than others, some will train you for a job on the outside, some will be boring, some will give you the right challenge for you. You need to ask yourself why you're joining, what your objective is.

You can get a larger bonus on the army or navy on a shorter commitment. Don't join the marines if that's what you care about.

>I got an elitist better than you attitude from the AF recruiter

Considering your branch choice after them was the fucking Army, I could see why.

If your in ROTC you're still in school and you don't know anything about being enlisted. If you make it to the fleet you still won't, you'll be a butterbar. You say you just want to kill shit, then you say the other college boys are the idiots.

You don't know shit about being enlisted.

And if you're in ROTC, you can get out and you should, if you think it's not for you. A few thousand dollars in tuition isn't a life changing thing, you're better off paying them back than the alternative.

You can't see a damn thing.

That goes against everything I know about the process and it doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
