Though I can't speak for the politicians and leaders, a lot of the of the Bosnian Serbs in the RS and BiH and still today didn't and don't want a greater Serbian state, though I can admit many would have if lets say faced with joining Serbia or joining a Mujahidin supported Bosnian state. My Father and late Grand Father fought in the siege of Sarajevo and they didn't join because they wanted to join Serbia, they joined because of Alija and his Muslims. This episode showed the failure of the UN. We sent peacekeepers into a three sided conflict with where we were not wanted by anyone. Peacekeepers are only supposed to be sent in to regions were the combatants ask for them. If the UN decides to end an existing conflict they have a mandate for peace MAKING, which amounts to invading with UN troops. Those politicians didn't have the will to exercise that option and tried to make the problem go away with standard peace keeping options - which was a dismal failure.
