Well I'm seriously impressed. Love the style. I know fuck all about art but I know what I like and don't like and I like that. Do you sell your paintings? Not asking for one but just interested in if it's possible to make money from art anymore without being a degenerate yid who draws cocks and white squares.

Thank you very much. I am still learning, I've been doing it a few months but I still need to train my self for a few years before I would feel comfortable selling them. Not only that, but it is also incredibly difficult to be commercially successful as an artist, let alone be commercially successful and paint the things you want. One thing I don't want to do though is go down the road of being so abstract that the art does not have any control over the viewer - my definition, and probably a lot of people's definition of art is that the piece must be able to command a specific emotion in the viewer, and it must have taken skill to produce. For example, a video of a baby being ran over be a truck might inspire a specific emotion, horror, but I would not consider it to be art, because it hasn't taken any sort of craftsmanship or skill, it's just documenting what has happened, also, if someone made a door frame, routed it really well, made all of the measurements very precise and worked within very small tolerances, then it is something that has taken great skill to produce, but commands no emotion.
The degenerate art or more recent times however takes not skill and inspires no emotion - it can not stand on it's own feet, it has to be supported by some blurb or explanation by the artist about "how this colour is supposed to make you feel like this" or" this set of paint thrown on the canvas is supposed to make you feel terror", it's all bullshit. The Nazis knew it was bullshit and they actually held an exhibit called the degenerate art exhibit that toured Nazi Germany. Rothko and Pollack, all charlatans of the highest order that cheat people who actually put effort into their work out of gallery space and who persuade people that they need not spend time on something in order to reap great rewards. Modern art is the embodiment of all that is wrong with today's society, instant gratification.
American reality tv does have it's own particular brand of shiteness that we seem to be importing youtube.com/watch?v=7MFtl2XXnUc
Cooper Perry
You've put my thoughts on art into words better than I could ever be arsed to. Rothko has to be one of the worst in this arena and I'm glad you mentioned the cunt.
I think you'd be able to sell commissions as you are now desu, though I imagine the market is difficult. My cousin paints pets (mainly dogs, not incredibly well, but good enough) and sells about 1 a week for £200ish then works a couple of days at a warehouse. He's been very fortunate as he gained a small following online so sells primarily to the US but it's definitely doable though I do see what you mean about painting what you want rather than what others want.
This woman (video) is beautiful and seems intelligent but paints what I would consider pointless and pretty low quality 'art' though seeing her do it and knowing she sells them at around £700/piece it makes me really happy for her. My ex was a bit of a fancy bitch and really tried to make me open my eyes to this sort of thing and I guess she managed a little bit. I guess it's about enjoying yourself and doing what you want to do more than pleasing others. Though I definitely draw the line at a much closer point than (((modern artists))):
Video appreciated. Wish we could know what they were saying/being told but the expressions say it all I guess (unless it's a good example of Nazi propaganda).

Not bad for a few months' experience. You're starting to understand layering and texture but there's a lot of flat areas. Try subjects with more sculptural lighting. Avoid tracing if you can, or keep it to just fixing key points.
Look at the brushwork on this self-portrait by Rembrandt.

I've recently started painting too, i'm nowhere near as good and I've only been doing it for a little while now but it's nice. I used to be addicted to video games so i thought i'd try and replace it with something non-degenerate but it was extremely frustrating at first. The picture in my head would never even slightly translate onto the canvas, the colours never mixed how i wanted them too, the entire thing was frustrating. I figured i'd start by learning to draw instead which was much easier and I've recently started painting after doing that for a few months but it's still frustrating. I'm not saying it's not enjoyable but it is very difficult and im having to try my hardest to stick with it.

Painting is a craft and can take a long time to learn. Colours come not just from mixing paint together, but also layering, texture, incomplete mixing, use of glazes, scumbling, all sorts of stuff. Then there's the differences between oils, acrylics and watercolours. Different brands of paint behave differently. Even colours that look similar mix differently, e.g. opaque chromium green oxide kills anything you try to mix it with.

Thank you.
The trick for me is picturing it, then getting proper references. Also my dad is a painter so he can help me with stuff, but there are loads of great tutorials out there. youtube.com/user/MichaelJamesSmithArt this is the best landscape tutorial channel I have seen, really clear and his videos help me loads. Also, don't be afraid to trace some stuff shapes if you want, there is no shame in it, even Leonardo traced youtu.be/t-IsiLw30Hs?t=12m50s (12:50) And that channel is fucking amazing for art documentaries and inspiration by the way youtube.com/channel/UCjqDr-twV-kqnbDJ1k6Bqnw

>The problem of unemployment in Britain illustrates perfectly the methods that Blair’s government used to obscure the truth. The world generally believes that, thanks to Labour’s prudent policies, Britain now enjoys low unemployment; indeed, Blair has often lectured other leaders on the subject. The low rate is not strictly a lie: those counted officially as unemployed are today relatively few.
>Unfortunately, those counted as sick are many; and if you add the numbers of unemployed and sick together, the figure remains remarkably constant in recent years, oscillating around 3.5 million, though the proportion of sick to unemployed has risen rapidly. Approximately 2.7 million people are receiving disability benefits in Britain, 8 or 9 percent of the workforce, highly concentrated in the areas of former unemployment; more people are claiming that psychiatric disorders prevent them from working than are claiming that work is unavailable. In the former coal-mining town of Merthyr Tydfil, about a quarter of the adult population is on disability. Britain is thus the ill man of Europe, though all objective indicators suggest that people are living longer and healthier lives than ever.
>Three groups profit from this: first, the unemployed themselves, because disability benefits are about 60% higher than unemployment benefits, and, once one is receiving them, one does not have to pretend to be looking for work; second, the doctors who make the bogus diagnoses, because by doing so they remove a possible cause of conflict with their patients and, given the assault rate on British doctors, this is important to them; and finally, the government, which can claim to have reduced unemployment.

Labour or the Greens I assume
A little-known fact is that Labour actually improved its share of the vote in most of the country, even more than the Tories did. Up 1.5% compared to the Tories who were up 0.8%.
The Tories only won because of the cynical targeting of a handful of seats that Labour lost thanks to UKIP splitting the vote
