As a guy who emigrated to Germany 26 years ago:

1. Learn the language its hard but people will hate you if you dont speak it also people like Americans and their accent
2. Dont go to shitholes like warsaw , take a nice city like Gdasnk or Krakow
3. Its nice that you have savings but people who dont have jobs have problems getting friends, women etc. So try getting a job, buy a house or better build one
4. Polish people are different from Americans. Americans tend to be more open and easily entertained, something most poles achieve after few shots of vodka after that ( you must drink too ) they will accept you

In my opinion Poland is very welcoming to people who are willing to live with us in peace. Of course we're biased towards some nations but to be honest, who isn't?

Atm I'm studying English philology and I've met two Americans. One girl from Florida and a guy from Texas. They are both nice and quite fascinated about our culture. I gotta say it's pretty fascinating indeed.

What comes to food, it's just great. Despite the fact it's good in most places all around the world.

The language is hard and yes, there are not many people who know how to speak English. I assume you could communicate with most of people using a very basic and not challenging language.

What I'm trying to say is don't fall for that slavic country meme. Poland is a great place to live in.
