>You've portrayed primate behavior as purely adversarial when cooperation actually plays a greater role in impacting social structure.
It's both. Extremely adversarial, but has elements of altruistic behavior, all for the purpose of the survival of the individual in the long term. Turning to be a "trap" for betas is in fact a means of altruism and cooperation.
>Typically beta males (which is actually a very HIGH rung on the social ladder) are helpers of the alpha male or males.
I'm surprise you have such an altruistic and Liberal view of things, truly, what has Sup Forums come to!
I'm joking. Humans are extremely competitive, especially males. Turning to be a submissive beta as a "trap", or simply as a helper of the alphas, is a survival mechanism to help them stand in good graces. Some betas are capable of overthrowing their lords, which happens quite often in primate tribes.
>considering how much more dramatically complex our social relationships are.
Not really, we are still animals subject to the exact same processes. Humans have an innate primitive behavior predisposition, a core being, which they are essentially tied to. Male Humans are conflict orientated, sexually charged and masculine, usually.
>The idea of the "alpha" male existing in modern human society is kind of a silly notion considering how many of the advantages and ways for manifesting being an alpha male are specifically thought to be in violation of basic social contracts.
Hello Hbomberguy.
Try climbing up the corporate ladder to a CEO position, see how altruistic and mature that is. Though in fact, you will discover just how Machiavellian, cruel and competitive Humans are, without the pleasing aesthetics we put on in the world.
I may be a cynic, but at least that helps me see society for what it is, just how brutal and pagan it is.
>If the raw alpha male does exist...
He also ends up as CEOs and politicians,
