Had a similar experience recently. My Obamacare got cancelled due to non-payment. When I called with proof, they told me it would take 10-15 business days to have my insurance re-activated and in that time I couldn't use it. Even though I had and was paying for it (complete error on their end).
During this time my testicles starting aching like a bitch. It worried me so I waited impatiently for my insurance to kick back on.
Once it did, I didn't want to wait to make an appointment with my doc that would have been two weeks out, so I went to a nice new hospital that had a walk in clinic.

I ended up getting an opening with my primary doctor at my usual place a day or two later. He grabbed my balls and made me cough, felt around and confirmed it may be a bacteria infection or maybe "blue balls" (kek) and that it would make most sense to start with doxycycline to see if that cleared up the issue prior to doing a more expensive option.
Fuck the medical field for reals guys. That was his suggestion, I decided not to say anything about my experience with the walk in clinic until after he gave his recommendation.
I was completely blown away.

When people don't have insurance, the only way they get treatment if they can't afford it is by going to the ER.
If they get ER treatment without insurance, the hospital is shit out of luck, which hurts the bottom line, which they make up for by increasing costs, which insurance companies make up for by increasing premiums.

I developed the most painful condition in the world (literally) called CRPS. Its the highest rated pain on the mcgill pain index, and there were times when I was going to the doctor 3-4 times a week begging for something to help and all they would offer was codeine for a while.Eventually my pain management doctor was like yeah lets get you on fentanyl. Doctors were scared shitless. At the time apparently I was the only teen in the UK to be on that strength of painkillers.
