Single-payer healthcare system

>single-payer healthcare system

>prescribed paracetamol
I never got the point of prescribing OTC drugs. You pay your deductible for a doctor's visit just to find out you could've solved the problem yourself.

Paracetamol is really cheap, 32 tablets is like 50p worth. So it only takes a small amount of additional cost from bureaucracy etc to make it 4 times as expensive. Irrelevant in a single case, but it adds up when multiplied millions of times.

>You pay your deductible for a doctor's visit
>pay
>doctor

just make your damn paracetamol yourself, you god damn niggers

For 5 years free healthcare couldn't figure out what's wrong with my eyes and now I need a corneal transplant

Your eyes are all fucked up and you type like a fag.

On the consumer side under single payer the point is that you don't pay out of pocket. If you go to a pharmacy you have to hand over cash.

>(((Health insurance)))
It's the biggest jewish scam after banking and the reason for ridiculous pricing: THEY GET TO CHARGE WHATEVER THEY WANT AND GOYIM ARE FORCED TO PAY OR GO BANKRUPT BECAUSE NOONE LETS THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY GO OUT OF BUSINESS

ITS CORRUPT AS FUCK

A year ago, I had a severely painful abcess caused by my wisdom teeth.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen didn't do shit, so when I went my dentist to ask for something stronger like codeine he said to ask my GP.

Asked my GP, he looked at me like a fucking junky and said because it's a dental problem he can't help me.

Fuck the NHS. I would have had to wait 8 months to have the teeth removed, and they expected me to die from the pain before that anyway. Absolutely fuck them

Paid £400 privately, had to wait TWO DAYS for my appointment, local anaesthetic, no pain, they gave me a cup of tea while i waited too.

Did I mention, Fuck the NHS. Privatise the whole fucking thing and if you don't like it then you can have all of your teeth pulled out with a monkey wrench you cunts.

People in this country are so fucking obsessed with keeping the NHS they will literally stay in the EU just to keep it. Fuck the NHS and this socialist shitpile.

Just had a tooth pulled last week. You'll usually get 30 5mg Percocet for that. In the US they will give you that shit for nothing, and as nice as that sounds, it has created massive amounts of junkies.

This.

If you needed any further proof that statism is like a religion, look no further than the average brits view of the NHS.

>socialism creates scarcity
news flash

tfw prescriptions are free in Scotland

Minimum effective dose for codeine is around 60mg, and the most you can get without a prescription I think is paracetamol/codeine 500/20,

So, literally cannot get effective pain relief without a prescription, and nobody would give me one.

I have since managed to illegally acquire a box of 500/30 cocodamol in case I need decent painkillers again, because the doctor certainly won't help.

I don't know what NHS is but Australia's Medicare system has been based for me

Got my wisdom teeth taken out speedily and cheaply

(On vacation, not Italian)

Dentistry has to be the worst aspect of the NHS. None of it's free, it's just a lot cheaper than private, the waiting lists can be huge, and they only do surgical extractions under general anaesthetic, which has 5% risk of death.

Privately, for £400, I had the teeth out with local anaesthetic so I didn't leave the place feeling like I'd had a lobotomy.

10/10 would do it again. Fuck the NHS

I'm sorry to hear that bud, my tooth was pulled over an abcess. Hope you power through it. I should mention that I didn't actually take the painkillers, as I'm an ex-junkie. Aleve works the best or any NSAID.

From the time I went to the dentist office for the first time, to the time I left with a tooth pulled was about 1 1/2 hours. Total cost for a second molar, x-rays, and a check-up was exactly 268$ out the door, and that's in expensive as-fuck california.

thanks burgerbro. this was actually almost a year ago, I'm fine now. but I have the box of strong cocodamol stashed away in case I need it.

>prescribing paracetamol and not some opioid
WHY

I had 4 wisdom teeth out, local anaesthetic, 5 x rays. £400 seemed pretty good to be desu.

also, the two day wait was because the surgeon was on holiday.

extraordinary claims call for extraordinary evidence

the claim that a common pill such as paracetamol costs 4 times more because a hospital provides it is absurd and needs some serious evidence to convince me

The limit is 12.5/500 and most tablets are 8/500. This should be a scandal.

If it's cheaper to buy paracetamol from the pharmacy why don't the hospitals just buy it themselves

because muh poor junkies.

I think if you are in agonising or chronic pain, they should give you all the morphine you want, even if you take it all in one go so that you can die peacefully.
If people want to take if for fun and end up looking like skeletor, then i honestly don't give a shit.
After my experience, I have no sympathy for doctors reluctance to prescribe opiates.

Sledge hammer for a nail. Opoids are addictive

it's a fucking disgrace mate.

Pain is extremely unpleasant.

i think they do, then they jack the price up to bring in more sheckles

junkie detected

because opioids don't bring fevers down, stupid bonger

My dad had it done by his dentist a year or two ago using local and they only gave him Paracetamol and ibuprofen

I had it under general and get given endone. Was literally tripping and hallucinating for the next two weeks

Good experience desu

>just deal with that abscess

>You pay your deductible for a doctor's visit
>pay
>doctor

yeah, the pain afterwards wasn't much. a bit of ibuprofen kept it under control.

it was the toothache pain itself that was a nightmare. literal curl-up-in-a-ball level of pain.

What do you think tax is?

>oxycodone
>Was literally tripping and hallucinating for the next two weeks
I doubt it.

>running a product or service through government unions and government beaurocracy makes said product or service expensive

Whoa, 4 teeth and no painkillers. wtf. That is cheap, but damn.

Most of time i was sleeping but It was the weirdest thing, I would close my eyes and immediately enter these vivid imaginations

I remember one day for about an hour every time I closed my eyes I could see and hear two barrels made of corrugated iron rubbing together and making this massive racket.

Best thing was I got to stay with my parents and mummy made me custard

>pays 30% more tax than me
>laughs at paying for a service when you need it

Judging by your retard logic and that gif, are you Obama leaf? We aren't worthy of your hilarious backwards arguments.

Have fun waiting 6-8 months for an appointment.

I'm not sure any of you understand how the US healthcare system actually works.

If you don't have health insurance, and you can't pay for it, you go to a place called the free clinic. It's shittier and dirtier than a normal doctors office or hospital. But you can get it done for free no questions asked.

Secondly, you can go into ANY hospital emergency room at any time and they will NEVER refuse you. They'll just bill you for the cost, and if you never pay them, it's totally cool. Because in this country, the law does not require you to pay your private debts.

Furthermore, grocery store pharmacies like Publix give away tons of medicine and antibiotics completely for free with no insurance.

This is one of the few countries in the world where you could be homeless af, and still live a sweet comfortable life.

>the law does not require you to pay your private debts.

medical bills cannot be considered when applying for a loan either,

basically it's a system designed to crew the taxpayer royally

this shit needs to go, why can't patients who are comfortable with it just use the internet to diagnose and then be able to go buy their pills where ever they want and pay cash? this gatekeeping monopoly built up around medicine has to go,

This is equally true in the American health care system though, you just don't see the administrative costs in this specific case. There are plenty of other extra costs in the American system that you WILL see on your bills, even sans Obamacare.

It's either that, or a direct and unwavering tax increase of 30% or more

>single-payer healthcare system
after conservitard tories fuck around with it for 20 years

This is how I feel and I'm studying to be a doctor

Obviously it's dodgy for me to say that since I risk becoming ostracized socially

Someone on the course argued for banning private schools the other day

Can't wait to leave this fucking country
