It might just be a thing here in Sweden, but I swear that if you go to a café where Vänsterpartister (The leftist party here) go, loads of them are either directly from South America, or have parents from a South American country.

Not exactly south american, but from what I've appreciated while working with youth at risk is that most of them don't get exposed to anti-capitalist/anti-american rhetoric at home but at school. It is mediocre, frustrated, debt-ridden, failed teachers who teach students to blame "on the system" all of their problems, instead of teaching them what responsibility and self-control mean.
I'd say that 6 out of 10 of these students become the "passive communists", never really caring of what is right or wrong, but always remembering what their teachers taught them. 2 out of 10 become full fledged communist/socialists that hate "the oligarchs, the bloody rich!" and their success, because they want all of that for themselves. These guys tend to be the problem kids of the classroom. Dumb and loud. A few fortunate will become political leaders and achieve the lifestyle and wealth they've based their lives hating on (See Sanchez Ceren, Sigfrido Reyes or any left-wing politician). The other 2 will actually get informed and learn how things actually work, how it isn't "good hearted commie vs capitalist pig". Will desire success and will moderately achieve some stability if not get higher in life.
Being a leftist voter means minorities get gibsmedat policies. Free stuff means more immigrants and more immigrants means more free stuff.

on the part of the South Americans - it's opportunism and manipulation based on their delusion that they've got a monopoly on "passion for life" salsa bullshit - so they exploit their stereotype and cherry pick talking points and clothing aesthetics from their communist past and turn it into something for the sheltered Swedes to consume and fetishize and feel less Swedish. Meanwhile, the South American can feel like a special snowflake and come off as an authority figure with zero effort, pretending to be Che and get tons of pussy and a easy grades in university. It's like if an actual Jap attended a rural Wisconsin weeaboo convention. They'd happily pretend to be animated ninjas if it got them laid and tons of free shit.
Just to add, in the later years I have noticed that their influenced has decreased. Maybe because they have been drowned out from the noise of all other immigrants. They all annoy me greatly, though. Just the way they feel entitled to everything. Leeching of another race of people.

The problem is that we were pretty much cucked by America (that doesn't mean our fuck ups aren't our fault), so left 'intellectuals' in the region saw this as an opportunity and embraced communism as a way of fighting Imperialism during the 70s. These intellectuals were exiled in Europe btw, and specially Sweden, we shouldn't dismiss that.

Argentina's case is actually intriguing because we've never embraced socialism until recent years, thanks to something called Foro of Sao Paulo, you should check that out (those exiled intellectuals I talked about were the brains behind this). That's when Peronism, a movement that fucking imprisoned and tortured communists, merged with the left.

It depends entirely on where you live. Sweden is known for being somewhat left-wing, so it makes sense that you'd attract left-wing South Americans.
Here in Miami, they tend to be conservative capitalists (not just the Cubans, but also the Venezuelans, Colombians, etc etc etc).
In Latin America itself, there has been a swing from left-wingers more towards right-wingers, but that is a very recent development.

I was talking with a minor Venezuelan official the other day (here in Miami on a fucking shopping trip with his family, very decadent) about how he confiscated a boat last month, and he was bragging about how nice his new boat was.
