CATHOLIC GENERAL >DEDICATED CATHOLIC GENERALS EVERY SUNDAY
Everyone is welcome. Discuss news, ask question, give answers, be kind to one another, and above all assist one another in living the virtuous life. As usual, I will be assisting with answering questions and helping people out. I recommend you do the same.
Thank you and God bless you, user, for these Sunday treats!

All hail the king of cucks, wearer of the dagon crown!
Chase Smith
Don't you dare insult Jan Pawel II. That man is literally a saint, and probably one of the best popes the Catholic Church has ever had.
Matthew Lopez
If catholicism were false, the globalists wouldn't attack it.
Jaxson Cruz
The king of cuckery is going to fill Europe with your Muslim brothers, how cool is that!
Now you'll get to experience genocide!
Ryder Kelly
Baptised yet unconfirmed Episcopalian here. Would it be weird to convert to SSPX or sedevacantism without being a prior catholic? I like the idea of a traditional church founded by the church fathers, but the current catholic church is modern and degenerate, much like the church I left as a child. Orthodoxy seems a bit xeno too me, considering I'm solely of western European heritage >inb4 Don't do it. SSPX/sedevacantism isn't Catholicism. Francis is not the legitimate bishop of Rome, and there is the slow decadent decay from unholy influences within the church, the same influences that have undermined the other churches
Christopher Foster
What does Catholic General think of the whole Pizzagate pedo satanist investigation, by the way?
Ian Long
Saint JP2 is a saint for how he served the church in the midst of suffering, not because he was the best pope ever. He kissed a Koran once, which I hated, and while he was a holy man, the bishops he appointed were mostly terrible. He was a holy man but a a mixed bag pope.
Liam Lewis
Like I've said before, I don't believe Francis is not a true pope. Benedict stepped down under very suspicious circumstances, and, take it from a guy educated by Jesuits who managed to stay sane and not turn into an SJW, they are positively insane and there is a reason there hasn't been a Jesuit pope until now.
Alexander Hughes
He was proclaimed a saint for publicity purposes. If you understand own sainthood works in the Catholic Church, you'll know why "Santo subito!" was a silly thing for the papists to say.
JPII was pretty awesome though. Bergoglio is a faggot.
Easton Green
Seems like a hoax.
Jackson Cox
This old cuck that kissed the fucking Islamic koran?
Cooper Brooks
Can he be overthrown?
Elijah Robinson
>Flag.
Give up, America. You aren't going to get those shekels from your kike masters with such weak shilling.
Asher Nguyen
Suspicious how? It's not like anyone can force the pope out of office.
Jayden Peterson
I do understand the /process/ for sainthood if that's what you mean. Maybe it's just because I'm Polish-American and get really defensive about JPII. I actively have to remind myself he wasn't perfect. And yes, I agree, Bergoglio is a faggot, but the Jesuits as a whole are pretty much insane. Yes, I realize he did that. Unfortunately he couldn't go around screaming DEUS VULT, but at least he didn't advocate for Europe to be swarmed with barbarians. If he received significant pressure from inside the Vatican as Benedict likely did, yes, he could be forced to step down. It would be unprecedented though.
Connor Jenkins
What did everyone gather from the last thread?
Alexander Foster
Crap you're still going Wolf, what number is this #5?
Gavin Cook
Only the Pope can say he's not pope, so it will only happen after his death. For the moment, the Cardinals can mitigate things to an extent.
Austin Perry
Jokes on you, I'm paid in pizza.
Jacob Flores
>So, Why do you consider yourself a Catholic? What more does that give you that you don't get from just following the teachings of Jesus? I have found that to follow the teachings of Jesus is also to become Catholic.
Parishes around the world have what is called "RCIA Classes" (Rite of Catholic Initiation for Adults). Basically it's weekly classes that run through each part of Catholicism and let you ask as much as you want. Over time you get to know the whole parish community generally and it ends in your baptism and confirmation.
If you know your denomination, you baptism may still be valid.
>ending your argument for first cause with this being we call god doesn't defend theism
The argument, in the full detail I gave, does not end with "this being we call God" but ends with a specific result and specific attributes synonymous with the Abrahamic conception of God. While this isn't an argument for the Christian God in itself (it doesn't mean to be) it is an easy rejection of atheism and many forms of theism to to narrow the discussion. For instance, the divine simplicitly (a lack of parts) argued for rejects such claims as that end result being a "spaghetti monster" innately.
>you would have to reduce your christianity to a very moderate...
Don't be so assuming. I thought you wouldn't be impolite? This is not the end of the Christian defense for their belief and worldview. Hell, my explanation said explicitly more to this specific argument and how it functions.
>the universe having change...
??? I'm pretty sure change not occurring in reality is a pretty BIG fucking difference than now.
>what cause...
Time could have always existed. I told you explicitly I'm not speaking about a temporal causation but a sustaining one, as most cosmological arguments are about that. Are you reading at all?
And time makes no change in itself. It is the substratum in which things work in, not the work itself.
Chase Hughes
Well start pressuring them, make shit happen.
Or he is going to lead you all into Hell.
Ayden Cooper
It's only the second time a Pope has stepped down in the history of the Church, and a pretty conservative one at that. I believe that Benedict received significant pressure to step down from inside the Vatican.
Wyatt Sullivan

Mormonism vs Catholicism go. I can say that at least Monsoon isn't literally smooching refugee feet and lambasting Trump's wall.
Jose Bennett

Noah Young
And you're literally a cuck for believing in any of what he or any other pope has ever said.
Lincoln Wood
>So if I were to convert, yet disgree with the pope, that would be alright?
You can disagree with the Pope on a whole range of issues. But on religion we owe him our assent or at least the benefit of the doubt.
Grayson Williams
Do catholics follow a different doctrine than that put forth by Paul?
Alexander Taylor

Fucking Orthodox. Every time.
Jason Wood

Justin Cook
Ok, but...how? I mean, when presidents or prime ministers resign, it's often because they face impeachment or removal by the electorate. The Pope is not subject to these threats. How can he be pressured to leave?
Connor Hernandez
Correct. The Pope is not infallible on everything. There are very few infallible doctrines proclaimed by Popes in Catholic doctrines. See Please leaf, tell me more. This is a question that I unfortunately can't answer completely.
Parker Smith
>You cannot make infallible conclusions from fallible sources.
Of course not. All study of nature is not based on infallible observances. You say nothing new. I'm not saying that the theorem is infallible. I'm saying that the premises are correct, the logic is sound, and the result is accurate. There is no reason to believe it false and the criticisms to it simply do not stand.
You seem to be confusing a good argument with trying to claim infallible truth. Your anti-theism is working on your rationality.
>"DO NOT QUESTION ME!"
Rather "stop being stupid". That is due to the problem of induction. This gives easy reason to be skeptical of theories. The problem is that if you have no reason to be skeptical in other respects, such as with theorems, what you are doing is no different from denial.
Do a catechism instead for easier reading.
When people talk about church leaders affecting how they view Catholicism I find St. Augustine very helpful. He was in a debate with a man who thought only the morally excellent could be priests. Augustine's response, quickly paraphrased, is that it is the the grace administered during the sacraments and the authority of the doctrinal teaching does not come from the moral excellence of man, but from God.
Nicholas Brooks
Hi, unsure about which church I should choose.
Why should I choose catholicism instead of orthodoxy?
Thx

God made and makes the papacy. It's your call, your soul. It bothers me that so many Catholics now don't remember that the papacy is literally upheld by the Word of God. It cannot fail.
Brody Hughes
>worshiping a religion designed by the elite to enslave man
No thanks. True spirituality considers both the masculine AND feminine, not variations of extremes on either.
Kevin Gomez
Paul ruined Christianity. Schopenhauer was right about him.
Brayden Torres
I'm Catholic but can't stand the pope. What do
Connor Cooper

Blake Phillips
Orthodox Church has tended towards being more conservative than Catholics with the election of our dipshit of a Pope. They're also VERY much big on ceremony. Enjoy your refugee tidal wave brought in by your childish prime minister. Disagree with him and don't follow his teachings, follow Catholicism's core teachings from its beginnings. His doctrines are not infallible.
Xavier Lee
They could have him go on a convenient extended vacation', or some such. Or they had ways to blackmail or tongue lash him into stepping down. Really, they had quite a few ways of pressuring him into leaving.
I try to keep Catholic General beliefs away trying to being tied to political movements explicitly so we focus on what is important: Christ.
#5, yeah.
Believing things are true is being claims are infallible. The Catholic Church is a lawnmower with pedophiles as blades.
Crazy, stupid shit.

>It certainly helps to think about it that way. At the very least, it's far from exempt from politicking.
Yes, this is very true. But we owe the Pope religious respect. Typically it was at best naughty Catholics or non-Catholics who attempted to brow-beat the Pope; and perhaps it was and is all part of God's plan.
Regardless, the Holy Father is not merely a title. Would you long tolerate someone advocating you brow-beat your own father into submission to your will?

Owe him religious respect? Yes, we owe the Pope that much. But his doctrines are...radical, and the Jesuits have a bad tendency to want to get mixed up in political issues they really shouldn't be getting involved in, as Francis is with this refugee crisis
Gabriel Hughes
Well that doesn't give me any reason either for or against either side...
Luke Ward
All jews need to be exterminated, that said, christianity is not the answer to human spiritual evolution, at least not modern christianity.

I agree that 'modern' Christianity has been infiltrated, and corrupted from it's original ideals. But it's still VASTLY preferable to Islam and the Synagogue of Satan.
Jaxon Martinez
This current pope is an anti-pope.
It doesn't surprise me though. Jesus had a traitor in His own midst. Did you think Judas would be the last?
We have an obligation to pray for the soul of this anti-pope. I just feel that the Church is going to have to undergo the exact same thing that Jesus did. Persecution, execution and resurrection.
I think Vatican II killed the church. It is sad thinking about all the good things the Church did are all going to be swept away.
But God will bring things around. He is in charge.
Anthony Allen
hence my original question also, I didn't vote for him :^)

I'll convert to Christianity if you can convince me that Christianity is the west's greatest chance at stopping Islam.

Hubris. Popery is a human invention without scriptural basis.
Owen Carter
>While this isn't an argument for the Christian God in itself (it doesn't mean to be) it is an easy rejection of atheism and many forms of theism to to narrow the discussion sounds like straw men (or real retards) that have nothing to do with me. the only form of atheism i'm willing to defend is the one that attacks beliefs, not god. god may well exist but you believing in him without good reason is still silly.
>For instance, the divine simplicitly (a lack of parts) argued for rejects such claims as that end result being a "spaghetti monster" innately. the sort of god that arbitrarily decides to talk to moses and jesus sounds very spaghetti-like. i thought you weren't defending pantheism, but bona fide christianity.
>Time could have always existed. I told you explicitly I'm not speaking about a temporal causation but a sustaining one but the flow of time is the very thing what causes potential to be actualized, entropy and the laws of physics which facilitate cause and effect in the real world exist are allowed to function because they exist in the context of time flowing forward. so long as we have time, and if we assume time always existed, then potentiality being actualized is taken for granted, and there's no logical necessity for anything.
what are you really arguing for? are you trying to relate a meaningful statement or are you just reiterating the argument from first cause in the exact rigid format you've read in a book? i don't feel very sharp today but at least i know what i'm saying
Jack Moore
Agreed. But we must evolve our spirituality.
And we are. People here are starting to read about the occult. People are waking up.
Dominic Green
Terrible stuff with those pedophiles.
Well no.
I have a lot of respect to the Orthodox and don't find the issues between Catholic and Orthodox to be insurmountable to salvation of laypeople but they are still wrong in what differences they have. What differences are mainly high theological disputes and issues of church structure.
A core distinction between Orthodox and Catholic is over how to understand the position of the office of the apostle St. Peter. Catholics believe it has mechanical power over the other offices in the church and Orthodox believe its just a position of honor and not they are all functionally equal. Given how many apostolic offices have disappeared (with a claim of 7, max) and how the promise is implying of mechanical power in general (the claim being that he was "given the keys to the kingdom of heaven", I'd say Catholicism has the better claim.
This is super simplistic an argument but it will suffice for now.
Matthew Campbell
What else would be?
Parker Evans
Can someone recommend me a catholic youtube channel that is realistic and can actual relate to
Liam Baker
So the Orthodox Church does not recognize the Pope as infallible or as supreme, they believe the Holy Spirit only proceeds from the Father, and some other doctrinal differences that, while seemingly benign, make the merging of the two churches impossible. There's also differences in the services, so I personally recommend you attend both to see the differences. I can certainly tell you that Orthodox high masses are flashy to say the least, but not flashy in that weird Protestant pop church kind of way, but in a regal way. >implying I have any love for Francis Well said.
Nathaniel Davis
>2 years and still tripfagging/attentionwhoring I love how your tripfaggotry did not fly on octos christian, so you come here where you can have some kind of fame
pathetic but not that peoples scolding will stop you so sage&hide, I'll respect you when you stop using your trip
Anthony Walker
How many Catholics do you think Americans will kill in response to your invasion of our country?
How long do you think we'll keep you in camps?
Why did you dirty papists think you could get away with it?
William Moore
Catholics were pushing gay rights before it was cool to do it, they had might as well call LGBTC to add Catholics to the end of it.

Christian Peterson
Hasn't pedophilia been rampant in the Catholic Church though?
David Scott
It's my country, you get out papist.
Thomas Stewart
Why not look at the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter?
Christian Sanchez
Are you going to actually ask doctrinal questions or just yell about MUH EVIL PAPISTS even while the Protestant denominations are becoming just as bad, if not worse in terms of doctrine?
Hunter Campbell
>Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter I was too young when we stopped going to church to have any need for that

Liam Anderson

user, what. What.

Modernism has led to the decadent bullshit we see now. Catholicism and Islam are united in the rejection of modernism. However, no rise of nationalism can sort out the problem already expressed within modernism, it just attempts to salvage modernism from its decadence. You cannot achieve the nationalist vision of Sup Forums and be sustainable without a rejection of modernity and a rise of Christendom.
While Islam is joined with Christianity in its rejection of modernism, the reestablishment of Christendom would explicitly deny and give non-arbitrary reason to deny Islam in Christian lands.
Juan Hughes
Still don't understand why you're referring to it as an invasion. Elaborate.
David Davis
I only go to mass on Sundays to have an excuse to talk with this girl I met there because boi she thicc.
