All variables, but you fail to look at the underlying data of the cross over votes between Sanders and Trump based on their platform. The major kill was over trade and economy. These voters were fence sitters early on but when it came to Clinton vs. Trump, they gravitated to Trump because he represented what they wanted in terms of free trade and anti establishment. (Sanders would have been an anti establishment candidate as well.) Also she did not adopt the Sanders policies that were a draw for the white, working class that eventionally went for Trump.
Sanders had much bigger sway in states that went from trump like Wisconsin and Michigan as well where he beat Clinton. If he was able to carry those two states, he'd have won.
