Sleeping hours

Morning, Sup Forums

How many hours of sleep does an adult human being need so as to perform well, stay focused and not get angry easily?

I usually have to sleep around 10h, otherwise I feel tired. Today I just woke up now after barely 8 hours of sleep and I already feel very tired. Let's say that 10-11 hours is the best for me

child detected, either that, or you're depressed user

I'm 19

I usually get 6. Feels good when I get 8. 10 or more and I feel like shit the whole day here.

I think most people sleep between 6 and 10.

Yeah when I was 19 I slept about that much, you're fine just still developing.

8hrs is normal and sleeping too much too often is bad for you

Even if you feel tired after 8hrs, that's because your body is unnecessarily accustomed to 10-11 hours

You should try getting no more than 8 hours and soon enough your body will adjust

8 according to socialist nanny state Norway.

You can function with 6 as long as you sleep well in the weekends.

you should be doing a polyphasic sleep cycle

Fug, I must be depressed for the past ....15 years? 10-12 hours does the trick

+10h usually means ill be tired for the rest of the day

8-9h is the optimal amount of time for me, but I usually end up getting 6 or less

No such thing for me, "weekends" are only different because my parents are at home when I wake up

I slept once for 6 hours and it was awful. Eerily, I could do it easily at 15-16

wish i was 19 again

sleep the 10 hours but make sure ur lifting to utilize it

>5 hours
too little and it'll affect me for the rest of the day. need to go to bed early
>6 hours
too little, but i'll pull through and with a bit of coffee the day will be fine
>7 hours
rested and pretty much normal
>8 hours
very well rested

can't sleep more than that normally, only if I have taken an all nighter or been doing something very stressfull and time consuming for a whole week and i finally get over it

For anyone having problems try timing your REM cycles better.

6-8 for a normal adult.
6+ for normal cognitive behavior.
4+ for "minimal combat effectiveness". (Cognition will slow but you will still be able to perform routine tasks.

Your 9 should be fine but then again you are a blossoming young woman, OP.

I'm 28 and I sleep way too much. Think last period of sleep was 6 hours, followed by a 4 hour midday nap.
Not depressed, but sleeping through the hot part of the day just makes sense...
However I sleep way too much.

>taking the liquid jew

I try, but most of the time I don't feel like doing it

Trump wrote in "Think BIG" that if you love what you do, you might only need 4 or 5 hours of sleep. Maybe you need a change in your life.

I have a sleeping problem so I only get 4-7 every night.

If I get 4, I literally want to kill myself. If I'm lucky enough to get 7-8 I feel amazing.

I feel best with 8, but because I'm stupid and stay up late on Sup Forums I often do 6. One or two days of short sleep is fine if I was well rested before, but I get exhausted if I have to sustain it for a whole week.

Exercise before dinner and go to bed sooner.

I usually get about 5 a night then 14 hours on Saturday cause sundays my day off

Hmm, I go to bed quite early, between 0 and 2.

Haha, wagie

Im on celery so its worth it

Maybe you should do something more productive in your life?

I like 9-10 hours. I'm 22.

Celery? The plant?

I salute you, user-kun

I had some trouble sleeping sunday night and slept maybe about 4 hours, but I was completely fine the next day.

However, the rest of the week I'll generally try to sleep 5-6, and I'll be fine during the day as long as i drink a little bit of coffee.

Weekends I usually sleep about 9-10 depending on what is going on and it feels amazing.

There was one weird week where I just felt like sleeping early during the week and it was nice getting that extra bit of sleep, but I usually prefer being awake because you can't really do anything while you're sleeping except have dreams about your fillings coming out.

It's weird that wagies are ok with sleeping 8 hours and I have to sleep 11

8 hours is a fucking luxury, you fucking neets. That is if you manage to fall asleep at all!

It takes me like up to an hour to fall asleep though

Salary at 66k a year but its pretty gay with 15 hour shifts 6 days a week

>sleeping 10, 11 hours

what the fuck is wrong with you

that shit is not healthy

Siesta lover detected.

I've read that some people can dramatically reduce the amount of sleep that they need in a day by taking multiple power naps throughout the day instead of sleeping at night. Apparently if they maintain their schedule, the body jumps right to REM sleep and is really efficient at resting. However supposedly they crash hard if their schedule gets fucked up.

i'm 26 and have this problem too. This much sleep just affects your free time so much after work that it hurts. I want to sleep 8 hours, and be fit, but it does not work. I sleep 8 hours for 2-3 days and i am a dead man. I am much slower in thinking, and doing stuff.

Tried: meditation (it just helps with the stress thing - work related)
sports - tried to cycle, and working out (not both at the same time). It just gave me more exhaustion, and more time into regenerating, sleeping
vitamins - C, D, zink, B's, iron

Nothing worked. I am basically constantly tired, rarely can get enough sleep (2-3 times in a month).

Now trying to see a doc. I researched a bit, and it can be some actual medical condition (one is when you have less iron in your blood than needed). I'm not going to throw around them, beacuse i'm lazy to search the english term for them.
I am actually hoping that they find something, and i can fix my life. Other than this problem i'm good, but this limits me hard.

Good luck to everyone who suffers the same, and try to find some solution guys. Don't belive anyone who says "u just lazy and shieeeeet", they are just ignorant ones, who never experienced this stuff.

fool if you sleep 10 hours a day and live to 80 you will have slept 33 years of your life away.

seep like the madman no longer then 5 hours at a time

But I am lazy too. Either this or really despondent and depressed

>seep like the madman no longer then 5 hours at a time

How does he do it?

great genetics, possibly adderall.

sleep when your dead

minimum 7 to have some kind of functional ability. I'm like you user, I need more than 10 hours to feel awake, otherwise I'm a husk.

I sleep 7 hours max and feel like shit throughout the day.

I sleep about 6-7 hours through the week and about 10 on weekends.

Problem is that I usually get headaches if I sleep too long.

I get about 5 hours a night on weekdays.

You faggots always draw me back in.

As you get older, you'll sleep less, basically you'll revert back to being a baby by the time you're a old person.

Your job holds you back, haha

i require at minimum 8 to function at my top

i can go 50+ hours at a time if i require to, and i have had to, but i start going insane at the 30 hour mark(arguing with myself out loud, talking to random inanimate objects, seeing things). But i was the most dangerous to everyone at 70+ mark, isolation from friendly non combatants was the course of action, followed by forced sedation.

I sleep 8 hours every night. I can get by with 4-5 hours if I ever need to but too much or too little sleep and I feel like a dead man for the rest of the day, 8 hours is the perfect amount.

I was never awake for more than 22 hours

Holds me back from shitposting to my fullest potential.

I've gone a little over 50 hours once with no drugs of any kind back in highschool.

Read every textfile on totse, started getting really weird.

25 year old here. I usually get about 3-4 hours of sleep. If I get over 8 hours or so I feel kind of off all day. I honestly can't feel a difference between 3 and 8 hours of sleep. Less than 3 but more than 1.5 and I'm a bit drowsy until around noon. Less than 1.5 hours and I am out of it all day.

The biggest help for me has been tidying up my diet. I've gone all in on whey protein and flushed out the diet drinks, sugary shit and I'm using magnesium. My energy levels stabilised, need for sleep reduced and I could focus far more. Sugar substitutes I find make me lethargic and cloud my thoughts. I'm a heavy diet drinker.

You fucking gipsy.

I sleep 4 hours, 4.5 hours max.

Wake up at 6:30, do little exercise, go to work, go to college, go to the gym, get home at 0:30, prepare for tomorrow, go to sleep.

If you sleep more than 5 hours you're a lazy degenerate who is wasting his time in this life.

How fat are you? 10 hours? Put down the fork, fatty.

I've been doing 5-6 hours a night for a long time. If I go to sleep, I wake up 5-6 hours later, no alarm needed.

But I'm not fat, and cut all sugar from my diet, and I'm not a depressed NEET.

meme-tier garbage

i usually get 5 hours of sleep
leads to bouts of narcolepsy it sucks

I can't nap. If I sleep, it's 5-6 hours, or I'm off kilter for the rest of the day.

i work 64 hours a week so i get like 5 hours of sleep at best.
Sometimes i go full faggot and dont sleep for 2 days, although it comes back to bite me in the ass.

I did this (uberman) for about 4 months. it actually fully works,as long as you have a job that's compatable. and after a month of hallucinating hell while adjusting.

every 4 hours nap for 20 mins.
>EVERY 4 HOURS

I ended up getting a cold and it kept me awake for a few naps due to congestion & coughing. then I passed out for like 20 hours and couldn't get back into my groove.

Untrue. As people age they need less sleep, by the time they're elderly, they can get by with 4-5 hours a night. My grandmother was like that, she'd read all night, go to sleep at 4 am, and be up at 8am, ready for the day.

babies and young people need more sleep. That gets less and less as you get older.

6-8 hours is normal.
You can work with 5 if you compensate on weekends.

I'm 34 and I operate on 6 hours during the work week. Weekends I usually get 7 to 8 hours.

If I get 8 during the weekday I won't be tired toward the end of my shift, but I'm usually refreshed again by the time I get home.

see

I used to sleep like 5-6 a night in high school. In college I oddly got like 7-8 and by senior year got like 9 or so a night.

The weird thing is regardless of how little sleep I get, I don't doze off, I just feel like shit.

Personally I work hard through the day in a physical job, have a good meal when I get in, maybe have a couple beers before getting about 6 hours sleep.

Don't often feel tired at all, just waking up is a bitch.

The not the smart thing but it works for me.

How well you sleep counts, too. I'm not a fatty, so.I don't have sleep apnea - I sleep really well, always dream, and sleep like a fucking log, in deep. Wake up completely refreshed, ready to go, in 5-6 hours. I couldn't imagine wasting an additional 5-6 hours in bed every day. Maybe sleep in like that once in a while on a Sunday, or holiday, but sleeping 10 hours a day kills me. How do you get anything done?

187 cm and 85 kg, 6'2" and 180 lbs I guess. I am quite skinnyfat because I lack muscular mass

I eat a lot of sugary foods, they make me happy, sometimes I force myself to eat them so I can boost my happiness

It seems like the normie is mad haha

6 hours and I can't focus on watching an entire episode (20-25 mins) without gazing out on the window or fiddling with something. Let alone playing video games or reading

depriving yourself of sleep is literally one of the worst things you can do for you health. the fact that trump doesn't sleep or eat properly gives me concerns that he won't survive 8 years of the highest stress job on the planet.

Praise Kek?

I usually sleep about 6 hours a night. I get the mid-day sleepies but if I plow through it I'm fine for the rest of the day.

>not realizing that before electricity human beings slept 12hrs sunrise to sun set

There could be many reasons for that. I would see a doctor m8.
I concentrate just fine with very little or no sleep. Sure I'm not at my 100% but it's not so debilitating.

Source for that?
And just to mention one trick I learned: when you're dead after work, just drink coffee when you come home and doze off for half an hour. You'll feel like a new person.

I prefer to get 10+ hours and I get very fatigues if I don't.

I wake up feeling exhausted, worn down, sad, and completely without willpower.

I probably only need 8, but I honestly can't overcome the overwhelming dread of hearing an alarm clock after only 8 hours so I tend to try my best at getting at least 10.

I'm probably depressed as fuck deep down, but during the day I feel pretty okay.

I have difficulty getting to sleep too mainly because late night fucking around on the internet is the only time I feel happy and in control of my life, and I can't stand ending it early in order to fast forward to another horrific day.

I need 10+ hours, some days I don't get out of bed at all.

I had my blood work/physical done a few months ago, everything is fine.

but i have severe depression and PTSD so my doctors have suggested I might have sleep apnea from it (I'm not fat).

I'm too stressed out to get a proper night's sleep.

it's terrible

oh, also my menstrual cycle causes sleep disturbances; both insomnia and hypersomnia depending on where I am in my cycle, so that's almost a third of my life being affected because of it.

Are you taking anti-depressants?

...

if i dont sleep at least 10 hours i feel like shit. It really fucks with my free time

Yeah same here, I like cooling my room to 18-19C before going to bed, in the meantime watching anime in my comfy armchair. Late evenings are the comfiest

Is your jealousy talking? Why would I see a doctor, to stop being comfy?

>menstrual cycle

Out

I have activities during the day, I can't just lie and do nothing

Do you have PTSD because a man farted next to you on a bus, or did something happen?

jesus user we are one and the same

I have not slept in 3 years. I only take cat naps in the wokrplace bathroom 3x a day (5 minutes at a time with alarm)

>but user you´re gonna kill yourself this way
Not if you eat healthy + take vitamins. You don´t need sleep after a while.

>Don´t you fall asleep/that is dangerous
I use high doses of amphetamines daily, I am probably more conscious than all my coworkers put together

yea i bet. you mexicans age like shit

8 hours and you should be good matey

It's possible he was certain Hillary was to win.

...

tonight? I'll probably get 4 again... fuck

I go to bed early. Between 7-9pm and sleep for 4 hours. Then I get up and read for 2-3 hours and go back to sleep for 4 more hours.

I fell into this naturally but I've started to really enjoy it. And it's easy to maintain.. Lots of energy and it's made me get through a lot of reading material

Enjoy heart failure

>Mexican intellectuals

People sleeping 8 hours straight is actually a modern thing. Before that, people had breaks in their sleep at which time they did such things as keeping watch, relieving themselves, eating, having sex, etc., etc.

I bet you're one of those tools who believes beds and doors were so small during medieval times because people were so small.

Hahah whatever leaf. I hit the gym daily + run 6 miles in the morning + cold showers. My heart is just fine. The fact that you waste time sleeping is only more productive time and money for me. I have 2 jobs at the moment

honestly the night time is so comfy that id rather sleep thru the shitty hot morning. Fuck mornings. Maybe if I lived somewhere colder.

Is LARPing also included in your daily schedule?

Same here. 30 degrees on average in the afternoon in july and august ré

People weren't chickens. What would the Nordics do in June? Sleep for 2 hours?

You have a problem.

physical and sexual abuse by parents, two suicides in my immediate family, and later proper raped via stranger danger

I'm the average modern woman ;; )

but not a tumblrfag

I get about 6. I feel best at 8, and shit if I get more than that unless I'm dogshit tired and need the rest.

ITT depressed sadboys and undiagnosed anemics.
