Revolver is less maintenance (don't have to switch magazines out to keep the springs from getting weak).
Downside is less ammo, but if you need more than 6 shots buy a rifle.

Well, that's the one I carry around. At home (meaning my parents' house) we have several Glock pistols, some shotguns, hunting rifles, etc. My dad is a colonel in the Sheriff's department, so he pretty much always has his service weapon. Plus, he was in the Marine Corps and was a drill sergeant in the Army for 20 years, so he raised us with a healthy fear and respect of firearms.

Recently, though, my grandma died. She as 94. She carried this little revolver around to protect herself with because her husband of 70 years, my grandpa, died in July. She wanted to feel safe, but if she needed to use it, she didn't want to have to figure out how to load it, cock it, and use it. My dad (her executor) gave it to me upon her passing, seeing as how I didn't have any here.

It's actually quite useful. I mean, I've never used it on a person. I've shot it at the range, and it could definitely fuck someone up, but it's more to scare potential assaulters and hurt em if they get too close. No doubt with a good shot it'd kill someone, but it was probably less than $100, honestly.

How? Revolvers have more parts than semiautos, meaning that there is a higher chance of a malfunction. Also if you maintain your semi-auto handgun, it will always be reliable. Revolvers also have a smaller capacity than handguns, so you'd better be a good shot. Unless you live in an area where the local fauna is dangerous (i.e. Alaska) you'd just be better off with a semi-automatic handgun since they're smaller and can hold more rounds.

Texan here. Choose whichever you're most likely to carry. I don't like to dress around a gun so I carry a high quality, tiny .380 semi auto.

I like snub nose revolvers too, but for me the .380 is easier to conceal. I don't have any excuse to leave it at home.

He collapsed, and someone who heard it called 911. Dude went to jail, Grandma came home that night smiling. I always picture it going down like an action movie, because she had to drop the purse to pull out BOTH guns, and I see it as one swift motion, draw weapons-aim-shoot.

The only reason to carry a revolver would be if tour state allows open carry or if you want to kill someone. Revolver does not eject a casing so police wont know what they are type of pistol shot the bullet.
