You're nitpicking. You're right in that when we pray to the saints we are asking only for their intercession, but we nonetheless pray to them. Our word "pray" comes from the Latin precor, to beg. Which is precisely what we are doing when we "beg" the saints to intercede on our behalf.
I understand that you'd be wary about using the word "pray" in reference to the saints because of how Protestants use this as the basis of various slanders, but still.
