According to Mahayana scriptures Buddha was not even human. Moreover he was greater then gods and much more powerful then any god of Hindu pantheon, like Shiva or Brahma.

So the question is not correct.

Dude was Indo-European, but was probably dark in complexion.

Brahmins were light skinned indo-europeans who conquered and ruled india. Since they rarely married outside the caste, it is very possible that buddha looked white.

>argentina talking about being white

At the foundation of this new religion was an ancient occult legend that tells the story of a continent somewhere in the north Atlantic. There lived a race of super-beings who'd fallen from grace through evil and vice. A great flood wiped these beings off the face of the earth, but before they could all be destroyed, certain priests escaped by boat eventually finding their way to India and the high peaks of Tibet. These escaped priests, believed by mystics to be the original race of Aryan God-men, were said to be the ancestors of all Indian and European people. The land was called Atlantis.

That is the one. Thanks for clearing that up.

Being buddhist must be suffering. Can't even commit sudoku because you'll just reincarnate.

it is the elimination of all suffering through truth.

you monkeys have no sense of honor or shame. buddha was a Saka/Shaka/Schythian. yes he was a scythian but the scythian were never white. white is a vain race term and has nothing to do with our races.

his real name was siddharth GAUTAM. he came from the people who called themselves gautam and lives in the north west of modern day india. there are still people who live there that call themselves GAUTAM.

pic related is an indian actress Yami Gautam from that same area. she is also descended from Saka/Shaka/Sctythins. if you thnk that she is white then most of mid-east is also white. i do not give a fuck about you disgusting slave race vain categories of identity. keep you filthy labels away from our races.

I knew you seemed familiar, aquafresh
I think we talked in a thread once, I asked whether you too consider english confusing when it is used to describe buddhist terms. And that it's difficult to put an experience into words, so much of what can be found on the internet about e.g. mditation is garbage.
remember? or are you some other NL buddhist Sup Forums browser (means there's more of you here)?

the idea of the caste system is bull shit. the anglo understands nothing. there is no such thing as hinduism and there is no caste system. both of these claims were shat out by the anglo saxon race of liars.

Another proof that buddhists are literally nahsees

>also, he was an ordinary human before he became enlightened.

Thats the disguise for low energy whining sceptics. Believe in Buddha superpowers now and gain your long-term sansara benefits!

No I am not a Buddhist, but I have just recently began working with similar subjects, trying to get into meditation, understanding consciousness. I will probably end up with something like buddhism, but most likely with my own swing to it.

agree that caste system is/was bullshit. that's exactly why buddha did away with brahmin traditions in his teachigns,
- taught in prakith which is close to what we now know as Pali, instead of Sanskrit (brahmin tongue).
- he accepted monks from all castes unlike some other religious leaders at that time period in India

I hear good things about Eckhart Tolle The Power of Now, gonna see if I can pick it up somewhere

didn't he get siddhis after enlightment though?
I can't determine whether you're the same user, but it's good to hear that seekers still exist somewhere

swastika is a Hindu symbol which I've rarely (never) seen in Theravada symbolism (at least in Sri Lanka).

what about him being the heir of a royal family? please elaborate

I dont think so,but I will check out the Theravada
any good links?

Digits confirm it. I will convert to Mahayana Buddhism immediately. PRAISE KEK

The Kushan Empire which spread the religion probably more than anyone else was white, but unclear that Buddha was white.

All religions are fantasy built arround bits of truth. The truth, the full truth, can only be found through dianetics.
We are all kek my friends.

The swastika was used by Aryans of both the Hindu and Buddhist varieties. This was an era of high syncretism and pre-Islam.

yes, in Theravada commentaries he is told to be of a royal heritage. but nowadays we understand this to be more of a regional king/clan leader. In Theravada teaching it is very clear that he was from kshatriya caste. however as per custom for kings he had many brahmin teachers in childhood days and also after he renounced his family life in search of damma

youtu.be/0xkD3GjJMNs

Enlightened? you mean delusional right?
If he really was "enlightened" the he would be free and able to just stop reincarnating or existing at whim, thus negating the need for anything.

>Eckhart Tolle The Power of Now
Try Osho. His words carry great gravity and his reasoning is well-grounded.
He claims he reached enlightment around the age of 21 I think. He was a huge irl troll, read his biography for bantz

What the Buddha Taught is a good book on Theravada buddhism.

Not sure but fairly sure that somehow.

>Try Osho
not if you want to learn traditional theravada buddhism

I remembered it was taught that Siddhartha was a prince when I was little.

t. grew up in Thailand.

so, a caste of rulers and warriors, instead of brahmins - the caste of priests

Shambhala was invented after the violent spread of Islam into Buddhist areas. As Marx would have predicted, Buddhists, after having to flee from Muslims, invented this heavenly afterlife in the pure land of Shambhala.

According to this invention, the "people of Mecca" and ALL followers of Abrahamatic religions (i.e. including Christians) will be destroyed and a world-wide Buddocracy, ruled by a virginal monk-elite will be established.

Buddha versus Allah
The armies of Rudra Chakrin will destroy the “not-Dharma” and the doctrines of the “unreligious barbarian hordes”. Hereby, according to the original text of the Kalachakra Tantra, it is above all the Koran which is intended. Mohammed himself is referred to by name several times in the Time Tantra, as is his one god, Allah. We learn of the barbarians that they are called Mleccha, which means the “inhabitants of Mecca” (Petri, 1966, p. 107). These days Rudra Chakrin is already celebrated as the “killer of the Mlecchas” (Banerjee, 1959, p. 52). This fixation of the highest tantra on Islam is only all too readily understandable, then the followers of Mohammed had in the course of history not just wrought terrible havoc among the Buddhist monasteries and communities of India — the Islamic doctrine must also have appeared more attractive and feeling to many of the ordinary populace than the complexities of a Buddhism represented by an elitist community of monks. There were many “traitors” in central Asia who gladly and readily reached for the Koran. Such conversions among the populace must have eaten more deeply into the hearts of the Buddhist monks than the direct consequences of war. Then the Kalachakra Tantra, composed in the time where the hordes of Muslims raged in the Punjab and along the Silk Road, is marked by an irreconcilable hate for the “subhumans” from Mecca.

trimondi.de/SDLE/Part-1-10.htm

yeah, that's what is taught in SL too.
one of the oldest sources on buddha's life is, I think from - Asvaghosa [1]. Well, this is apart from continuous oral tradition of monks... On later periods many commentaries were written in SL and other places.

Buddhists are undeniably allies in the great holy war against Islam.

fugg

muslim invaders in India destroyed a lot of buddhist places in the past. it was only in last century even Bodhgaya was renovated again to re-establish as a buddhist place.

however, holy wars are fundamentally against the teachings of buddhism (at least theravada). mayanaya people might come up with some estoreric reason to justify that (like samurai tradition, may be), but I cannot as a theravada follower!

Yes, absolutely:
youtube.com/watch?v=RbPZ2UaRmac

except for the force of compassion which impelled him to be reborn to help those still trapped in the cycle of suffering

Cuck. Theravada confirmed for non-memetic version of Buddhism.

I was thinking of this guy when I posted that:
Pretty sure he is Theravada and just doesn't give a fuck. Is he a heretic?

I haven't read any of "his" books (he didn't actually write any of those) lately, I have a feeling his writings were corrupted by the west somehow and their meaning was twisted. I still do recommend his biography though, it's an interesting read.

>non-memetic version of Buddhism
yes it is the most orthodox version with less magic than mayahana for sure ;)
there are monks who have similar beliefs in SL too, and we have faught wars to "protect" buddhism in SL in the past. but what i'm saying is you follow buddhism faithfully, it is difficult to give a straightforward justification to kill people of other faith.

Esoteric teachings of Mahayana do in fact resemble meme magic to a degree. It involves meditation on "Yidam" which is supposedly a visualization of some form of Buddha or bodhisattva, but if you read Buddhist texts it's actually unclear from them if Yidams actually exist in their own right. Rather, they are seen as useful tools, contemplating the imagery is supposed to contribute to spiritual development and even achieve effects that could be called "magical".

what is your opinion on kebab removal by buddhists? Idleness is not a way, it cannot be. If muslims spread to buddhist areas, there will be no buddhist areas. So it is logical that islam needs to be wiped off the face of earth once and for all

Behaving like a "pacifist" and not taking action is the same as allowing islam and all its atrocities. But killing rabid dogs is still killing sentient life. Buddhists should refrain from taking life, but if they do not do it, they will allow for more suffering to happen in the future. What do.

I too have only read him here and there. I think he has hodge-podge of ideas from buddhism and hindu philosphy bundled so that it is easily grokable to westerners.
new-age tantra kind of way... I guess.

everything is impermanent - anitya. so why try to preserve something, even buddhism, against the nature.

I know this is a difficult subject I've thought about a lot bcos this happens in SL too. muslim people take buddhist villages and sometimes our temples too which completely destroy old way of life. yet, i'd rather see things solved through peaceful means than bloodbath.

You do realize that if you follow Buddhist thought, even if Buddhism is completely wiped out on the entire planet, it doesn't matter in the overall scheme of things? According to Buddhism there are countless inhabited worlds (could be in our universe or on other planes of existence or both) where countless beings are being reborn. On many of them Dharma (the Buddhist teaching) exists in some form. If someone is karmically ready to become a Buddhist, he can, in this life or next.

exactly

there is no way the conflict can be solved with diplomacy, it's kill or be killed
If you allow for the buddhist teachings to be lost, you are depriving other sentient beings from the true dhamma earlier than it's availability could last.
It's better to have blood on your hands that to lose a path for enlightment. Buddhas are born in ridiculously long intervals, it is important that dhamma is preserved for as long as possible

>WE WUZ BUDDHA N SHEEIIITT
Idiot

I had 34 at one point...just sayin.

It's confirmed Buddha is based
Kek is Buddha

WE WUZ BUDAHS N SHIT

This thread really takes me back. Buddhism is the philosophy/religion that always made most sense to me. Too bad in the end I still am unable to believe anything or commit to anything seriously, too much doubt.

buddha himself told, as per thervada tradition, buddhism as we know it might last about 5000 years. So we have about 2400 more to go :)

dhamma is not lost however, although teachings might be. we believe anybody can discover it without a teachings if he/she tries hard enough (Pacceka Buddha).

>even if Buddhism is completely wiped out on the entire planet, it doesn't matter in the overall scheme of things?

From a nibbana perspective none of it matters. From a practical perspective the Dhamma relies on the 3 Jewels: the buddha, the dhamma, and the sangha. If the sangha gets wiped out then Buddhism is wiped out, it is as simple as that really and it shows how non-ordained Buddhist teachers are not sangha and should be considered false dhamma teachers (i.e., all the jewish women who currently make up Buddhism Inc.). The Tripitaka is quite clear on this.

I also try to follow it more like a philosphy, and try to be truthful to myself. still, I also feel like i'm not doing enough, like meditation or dhamma study for example.

...

>According to Mahayana scriptures Buddha was not even human

Really makes you think.

From the practical prespective it matters to some extent, but who is to say that it matters more than the negative karma you would likely acquire if you kill people, even in defence of sangha?

How do I into meditation Sup Forums?

>
But Islam is the real bloodbath.

Focus on the present. Be aware of what you're doing.

I find pacing really slowly to be more effective than sitting but your mileage may vary.

Well, the way I see it it only makes sense if you accept the underlying metaphysics (karma and rebirth being the bare minimum). If these are false, Buddhist practice is at best a useful form of therapy, and at worst false idol worship, I would guess.

Which is why all my attempts at anything spiritual, buddhist or non-Buddhist, went nowhere so far.

Killing people trying to kill the sangha (monks) is always acceptable get your head out of your ass.
