one of the survivor seasons accidentally did this. it started as a simple setup of men versus women, and they were noticeably not in contact with each other. The men had no issue setting up a reasonably comfortable environment to live in within literally a few days. the women didn't even have a hut within a month, proved so incapable of finding food the show had to "cheat" to help them (noticeably the women destroyed that source within two days), and tended to do little more than argue with each other.
