Serious problem.

Sup Forums, and perhaps the newly energized right, is coming to a head on one issue.

That issue is whether it is right to 'go after' various individuals for their transgressions against others. It could be SNL figures for attacking Barron, or it could be that fat bitch for lighting a Trump supporter's hair on fire.

One side seems to think this vigilante life ruining is equivalent to the tactics of SJW's, who routinely get individuals fired from the workplace, expelled from campus, etc.

The other side seems to think that targeting these individuals is a necessary evil, fighting fire with fire, and the first step at regaining some cultural footholds.

What say you? Is it proper to target these people? Do some circumstances, such as criminal conduct, allow for the targeting more than others?

I certainly agree with the former. I suppose it's one thing to find someone that assaulted another person, but we shouldn't trying to run people's lives over mean tweets. Chances are almost everyone agrees that it's a bad thing.
You forget where you are though. This place isn't exactly a bastion of morality and kindness. Even if Sup Forums unanimously agrees that it's wrong to get people fired for their opinions, there will always be a large group of cheeky little cunts here who will do it anyway. They probably even acknowledge that it's a shitty thing to do, but they'll still do it for a laugh. It's the way this place works.

No one gives a fuck about the media's personal attacks. If they did, then Trump would never have won. They can say whatever they want about him, but they're just pissing in the wind. Every insult or joke that they can make has already been made 10,000 times in the last 18 months anyway. Even the "groundbreaking" and "historic" cultural moments (like Streep's speech) are forgotten within hours.
We aren't ceding any cultural ground because no one cares in the first place. Even if we were it wouldn't matter because Western culture is a miserable radioactive wasteland at the moment.

I will say that it's a great shame that there aren't more rightwing voices in comedy and in the mainstream media. Getting shitty writers fired won't change that though.

I acknowledge that Sup Forums is ever the wildcard with no consistent message, and that's a good thing.

All the same, sorting out the tension between these two ideas will be important in the coming months. The physical and verbal attacks are just beginning, a unified way to respond is better than fragmentation.

The idea is to get people on the left to realize that it's not fun when suddenly the gun is in the other person's hand. We've had a 20-25 year march of political correctness, and it really crescendoed in the past 5 years in terms of level of absurdity and the tactics used by liberals and leftists, think about that Mozilla guy being forced to step down because he gave money to a campaign against gay marriage back when there was little belief that it would happen outside of very liberal places. PC has reached its peak and the wave is crashing, if they have their tactics used against them it will hold them off from quickly resurrecting them and instead perhaps understanding why civil disagreement is better.

Hold them to their own book of rules. It is absolutely insane to think that you can beat them while holding yourself to the higher standard. These children (and they are, by majority, overgrown children) cannot be allowed to do anything and everything they like to fight what they perceive as an absolute evil while we sit idly by for some smug sense of superiority. When they hit low we must go lower. They want to take a cheap shot at the groin we take their knees. They hit our knees we dig under them and blow them sky high.

They think someone being sexist should have their lives ruined over a comment? Turn them into the equivalent of toxic waste to their employers. A site wants to advocate for the end of whites? While there is an ethical problem, per se, regarding upholding freedom of speech, I think the end goal of having them get a taste of their own medicine is a fine justification for attacking them using such methods.
