Do you think it is okay for governments to practice torture on people?
Why does Guantanamo Bay still exist?
Do you think it is okay for governments to practice torture on people?
Why does Guantanamo Bay still exist?
no. and torture is ineffective anyway - they'll say anything to get you to stop.
with all that practice you'd think they'd be pro torturers
That's not even good torture.
They don't use pain or history, they just use shock and terror.
Those aren't good for truth.
Torture is OK for me.
""""people""""
I don't think its ok for governments to exist
Only in the rare circumstance that it is both necessary and useful. Gitmo still exists because Obama was too busy golfing, and will likely continue to exist for the rare times when torture is useful. It will likely be examined for abuse but left open.
Its not OK.
But it will continue to happen whether you want it or not.
There is nothing you can do about it.
I don't care as long as you only torture US citizens.
this
Thanks for the token swedcuck post bro.
That was a pretty good one tbqhfam.
Because it is a strategically valuable naval port in the caribbean. Camp X-Ray is just a small shit hole on the island.
Tortures only real use is to put fear in your enemies which causes them to fight to the death, rather than to submit. It's a situational tool desu senpai.
> (OP)
>no. and torture is ineffective anyway - they'll say anything to get you to stop.
If it was ineffective, it would not be practiced.
Also, you're repeating a lie. There are interrigation methods that let you verify the intel. Like cross examination & repeated interrigation.
Should a person lie, one would hyoutu.be
>Gitmo still exists because Obama was too busy golfing
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
And Republicans have nothing to do with it I guess?
Torture doesn't work.
The Bay exists as it a key military base. Camp X-ray exists as you have to keep the shitheads somewhere.
>it is a strategically valuable naval port in the caribbean.
Would be for Cuba, isn't for America.
America is just preventing Guantanamo from having access to open sea.
> (OP)
>I don't think its ok for governments to exist
You had one of the best organised countriescin the world, you spoiled cuck.
Enjoy your muslims.
We have a treaty rights to Guantanamo since 1901 and it was reaffirmed in 1934. It is a important base location for the US.
>have super majority and a promise to end gitmo
>instead bomb more brown people while pinkos cheer
Lmao someone needs a reality check. Oh wait it is another episode of euroshits stick their noses in american politics
Guantanamo exsist because obama liked using it as a political football instead of actually closing it.
A few dozen Arab terrorist having water poured on their face is the least of my concerns ATM
>It is a important base location for the US.
How?
It's just yet another US base in the Caribbean.
Maybe in the age of sail it was important to have a base every few hundred miles, but not today.
No. they should only use it when they're confident enough to torture professionally.
Practice on blacks or something.
>super majority
For 2 years IIRC.
Not enough to re-locate all prisoners to America.
>Gitmo still exists because Obama was too busy golfing
sure he said he'd close it before he had all the facts but once he heard from the intel community and realized that even if he did close it they'd just have to open another prison in some other random place so they could keep doing gitmo stuff in the new "totally not like gitmo prison" facility
No, it was completely up to him.
And he didn't do it.
What does that tell you.
inb4 he starts tweeting for Trump to do it.
Obama tried to re-locate all remaining prisoners.
But the Republican party made this impossible.
>Why does Guantanamo Bay still exist?
Because there are people there with uncertain legal status.
See, no country will take them, even the ones who have been found innocent (Since let's face it, if you keep an innocent man locked up for a decade, you can be damn sure he's gonna be a pissed off motherfucker) so we can't release them.
Likewise, we can't move them to the mainland, since no state will accept them.
Due to election shenanigans in Minnesota, one of the democrats took many months to get into office, and so they only had 59 votes.
Obama had a supermajoirty for like two months, pretty much all of which was spent on Obamacare.
Then Ted Kennedy died and they lost it.
It is not okay, but lots of things are not okay and still must happen.
Water boarding isn't torture, neither is threatening to kill someone's family.
Water boarding is an effective tool for information gathering and combines with a full structure of information gathering tools to create actionable information.
Yes
>we can't move them to the mainland, since no state will accept them.
No, the Republicans made it impossible on a federal level.
It wasn't up to the states.
And in response countries like mine said "fuck you, we're not spending millions to fix your problems"
How many bases do you think we have in the Caribbean?
Outside of Columbia bases that could be uses in the Caribbean, we lease two airports for anti-drug patrols, the Palmerola/Soto Cano base in Honduras to help train their army, and AUTEC which is a weapons test range.
Gitmo allows US navy vessels and aircraft to refuel and carry out rescue and anti-drug patrols in the entire Caribbean, let alone it is our only base in Caribbean that we actually have a treaty lease on, and not a handshake agreement.
I mean, if you take all of our other bases in the Basin that not in southern Florida combined, GITMO still has 4x as many men and woman there, let alone the size difference.
>Water boarding is an effective tool for information gathering
Yeah, if it wasn't for water boarding, we would have never learned about Iraq's WMDs.
Under US law, the federal government cannot send those prisoners to the states without the permission of that state or congress.
>Why does Guantanamo Bay still exist?
because it's perfectly alright to treat people like animals who want to kill you and everyone you know and love, and want to destroy your society which was built by the blood and suffering of your ancestors. that'y why
>state or congress.
>or congress.
>congress.
Yes, it was CONGRESS that didn't permit it.
Anyways why do you care?
I assume you support the Republicans so why woulds you want Gitmo closed??????
Over half a year between Franklin taking office and Brown taking office in Mass.
Actually I don't support republicans, but when I see idiots I have to call them out.
Since you have a poor understanding.
The law says they can't be sent to the US without the state's permission.
Congress can change the law.
Franken took office in July. Kennedy died in August.
And it's equally perfectly alright to fly planes into building occupied by people who support torture.
I hope Americans and Muslims kill each other more often, they are both scum.
You're a retard.
How old are?
and Paul G. Kirk, a the former chairman of the DNC replaced him till the special election in Feb.
allahu ackbar , brother
>is it okay
yah and they should use even more creative techniques, like that human cheese grater and wheels of pain.
use it on hard criminals like murders and weed smokers and televise it as a deterrent.
Not an argument
A month later.
And the senate is not in session October, and only half of November and half of December.
So really, 3 months.
>it's ok to mass murder people
>b-but torture is bad
go hang yourself, shitskin
Really though, governments should stand on the moral high ground.
Look up the law.
the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) passed in 2015 bans the transfer of GITMO prisoners to any facility in the states unless the state is willing to pay for it.
Obama signed it into law back in November 2015
I don't agree with either.
America and Al Qaeda are EQUALLY bad.
Actually, I just went and looked at the 2009 and 2010 calendars. They had all of November/December off then. It was a total of 34 days that Obama had a super-majority.
>America and Al Qaeda are EQUALLY bad
Dude, America does a lot of stupid fucking shit when it comes to war and international politics and their geostrategical interests. but they are a civilized western country, and you're telling me that you think that they are as bad as fucking terrorists?
The senate was in session in october 2009. Just checking the bills they passed would show that.
For 7 days. I just went and added it up.
>they are a civilized western country,
Nope.
Civilized countries don't torture people.
Civilized countries also don't willingly bomb hospitals.
Hello Ahmed.
To be fair, at least we apologize when we bomb hospitals, unlike Syria/Russia.
>what are earmarks
Shit you're even dumber than I thought.
you should learn the definition of civilization m8
On people? No. Absolutely not. On Americans? Of course!
They passed three bills in late october though december. Best not use "tentative schedules".
senate.gov
Senate did not leave till christmas eve that year.
see the 111th congress did not leave till Christmas eve
Volksverrader
Torture doesn't work on an individual subject. At all. They'll just tell you whatever you want to hear.
Now torturing someones family members right infront of them? Thats going to lead to the truth. Emotional distress is far more powerful then physical. Snag up Achmed's family and start fuckin them up, and watch how fast the intel comes from his lips. Faster then the blood gushing from his childs throat.
>inb4 "omg thats so evil, think about the kids".
They're already too far gone, pic related.
You didn't exactly act civilized in 1940-'45 either, Hans.
also here a CNN article from back then. They didn't recess till christmas eve. Simple google will confirm this.
edition.cnn.com
I grow tired of arguing over the exact number of days. I'm not going to waste my time deciding if it was 2 months or 4 months. It doesn't matter.
The main point stands. "Relativity few" and "Almost all of which was spent on Obamacare"
You're just being pedantic.
They're just playing around, there's no way a 9mm will hurt anyone at that range.
They aren't citizens
Fuck. Literally all of my rage at you retard. Fucking baited. Shit.
Im pretty sure its a 22, but you should see the blood gush from his head. Kid nailed him like 3-4 times, it was pretty great. Wish I saved the link.
1) no
2) because obama abolished it as promised .... oh wait ... cuz he protected it with all he had.
>webm
They had July to February, the only time the senate was not in session was when Ted Kennedy died, as Mass got his replacement before the senate resumed business.
That more then "two or three months" and also having 59 senators is a huge majority. That they pissed away.
They congressional record would show they passed a number of bills not health care related in that "short" span.
Congress was in session till Christmas eve, and then returned in early January.
They had July, August was a holiday, September, October, November, December, and January to pass whatever they wanted. they where in session that entire time outside of august except for about two weeks between Christmas and the 3rd of January.
...
Never saved it.
there is no torture in guantanamo bay
