Bye Sup Forums

Congrats idiots, like 4ch/8ch can afford pay-to-play high speed internet access.

>The Trump administration yesterday named Republican Ajit Pai to head the Federal Communications Commission.
> Pai is an outspoken critic of net neutrality — one of the fundamental principles of the free, open internet we’ve all been using for the past several decades.

If he does he will be impeached.

A law protecting NN was passed in 2015.

Where were ISPs making people pay more for different sites before that?

No refunds

we got really lucky with the internet

> In October 2007, Comcast was found to be blocking or severely delaying BitTorrent uploads on their network using a technique which involved creating 'reset' packets (TCP RST) that appeared to come from the other party.

> In December 2010, the FCC approved the FCC Open Internet Order banning cable television and telephone service providers from preventing access to competitors or certain web sites such as Netflix.

PLEASE PRESIDENT TRUMP SHUT THIS FUCKING WEBSITE DOWN

LET US BE FREE FROM THIS HELL

Okay, I don't see where customers had to pay more to access certain sites.

Yes, it was in the works before the FCC shut them down.

You've got it backwards. The ISPs charge the websites more for priority service.

So it took them 20 years to try it then they were shut down?

well the cyber was fun while it lasted. way to go Sup Forums

You clearly know nothing on this topic. Start here.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Net_neutrality_in_the_United_States

Trumpeters will defend this

>Hillary wouldn't have done this

ahahahahah nobody is that much of a idiot to do what you described on the pic

But isn't NN to prevent ISPs from charging the customer?

If ISPs are charging sites, why aren't they fighting it? Surely the sites that blacked out for those other internet bills they would do it now or bring attention.

NN was a move to give the FCC and another yet to be named agency control over the internet and THE CONTENT OF CERTAIN SITES
educate yourselves ignorant libtards

Please god

>If ISPs are charging sites, why aren't they fighting it?

They WERE. That shit was all over the news.

Fucking hell mate, it's not my fault you haven't read the news in a decade.

Here's a defense -- What business is it of the Government to dictate what a business can charge for its services? If you want a "neutral" ISP. hire one to provide your content. If nobody wants that, there will be no market for it, but if all you fags insist on that for your "freedom of Internet," then the market is yuge! I see a business opportunity for you there, friend.

>wants to build mexico wall
>gets firewall

No he won't. Rest of the world is too happy with the new glorious internet where amerifats don't spout moronic and cringy stuff unless they pay 10 dollars per post

Pray that Google's Project Fi lays down or buys up fiber near your home. This will become their market advantage.

I mean recently, with news of anti-NN Pajeet being selected by Trump.

Yeah, if the one ISP in your city decides not to offer you fair services, you just need to not use the internet for a few years and wait for someone else to install lines and start a company!

>getting upset at the free market
you can always move to europe

>Americans will become the next Australians, except they suck at shitposting and banter

>I mean recently, with news of anti-NN Pajeet being selected by Trump.

Maybe because it was fucking yesterday?

I barely use the Internet and less Sup Forums would be a blessing

what's so bad about net neutrality?

nothing, less amerifatties mean more qualities threads.

That's been news for more than a month. Sup Forums has talked about it for that long.

>Net Neutrality = Free and open internet
>No Net Neutrality = Corporation fucking you in the ass

The corporate shills (aka marketing affiliates) are out in full force trying to astroturf support to shove a shit sandwich down you throat. Don't let them do it.

Obama hired him originally you dumbass. Although I don't liked him either.

You think most sites would be around if that happens?

Sup Forums is an American site.

To be fair, there was so much disinformation floating around, that it was hard to tell which position was which. I had to badger people for hours just to find out what the hell net neutrality was, because everyone seemed to have a different idea what it meant, ir just kept parroting buzzwords.

Ask me anything!

>go to a site where the largest group of posters is American
>complain about Americans

implying that is a bad thing, i will finally be free.

Let's also forget about the fact that nearly all the infrastructure for the internet was built with PUBLIC funds. It was NOT built by private companies. WE THE PEOPLE paid for it through our tax dollars, and now they want to limit our use of it in order to make even more money.

Because they're granted monopolies by the government. So my question is who does net neutrality benefit, and who does it hurt?

Answers:
(a) It benefits the people and content generators/hosts
(b) It hurts the corporate monopolies (makes them less profitable)

Fuck the monopolies. Don;t let their shill factories, I mean marketing affiliates meme you into eating a shit sandwich.

if comcast is opposed to it then it must be a good thing

You don't get it, years of left hatred and now Trump has cemented the idea that ANY kind of rule or regulation is inherently bad. I bet these people would be fighting tooth and nail against the constitution if it were being writ these days.

I have a few websites, does this mean I can get paid just for having them up?

And, the guy who's promising to get rid of it, used to be a top lawyer for Verizon.

If the service is considered essential, like utilities, then the argument for regulation becomes stronger.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Trump will single-handley kill his only organic youth support base if he does this.

AND IT WILL BE FUCKING JUSTICE. How does it feel losers? The only shitty place that would accept you, is gonna be taken out over your oversized manchild hands by the very man you wasted an entire year of your life supporting.

And there wont be a single thing you can do about it.

HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

We are great at shitposting and banter. We just don't use it as often.

Nope. It means you need to pay more to keep your visitors.

Nope. The cable company wont share their monies. They don't have to.

internet was doing just fine in america before net neutrality. can someone actually quantify what the fuck net neutrality actually does and what was wrong with the state of the internet in the US before net neutrality?

Oh well then fuck that.

north korea has no internet
they are best korea.
make america best america

>Implying Sup Forums isn't already fucked by Hiroshimoot

Haven't you tards noticed how slow the site has become? Gook moot downgraded all the hosting servers for his $hekels and made the site slower.

We have already experienced what would happen, and seem to have survived quite well.

Yes, it was. That was before mega corporations like Comcast became insatiable money hungry jews. Now imagine giving the power to them.

America has always had net neutrality. They are trying to take it away from you.

People against net neutrality cannot seem to grasp that the the internet only exists because we spend massive public funds to support the infrastructure that makes it possible, and as a result of that fact the large ISPs have government funded monopolies on internet service.

ISPs don't want a free market, because in a truly free market their business model would fail. What they want is the freedom to take public funds and use them to charge us as much as possible.

AMERIKEKS BTFO

And so the wild west age of the internet is officially at a close. This beautiful accident will finally be the controlled, money-extracting cable television replacement corporations have been having wet dreams about.

But it was worth it to stick it to those libcucks, huh?

Can't people just stop using the internet?

Seems like mobile has overtaken any other form of internet access, where is that internet coming from?

If you love the free market dominating society on such a level, why the fuck aren't you in China?

>where is that internet coming

Net neutrality means all bandwidth is the same.

No net neutrality means that service providers can restrict or slow access to whatever ISPs they see fit. This could mean anything from limiting access, slowing downloads/uploads, imposing data caps, or locking certain websites behind "premium packages". It's potentially outright censorship or extortion, without calling it that.

that died with web 2.0

The new net neutrality basically forces the ISP to let Netflix host their services on their infrastructure.

>repeat a lie often enough and people with think it true

Your message is too complex. You need to simplify it.

>Net Neutrality = How things have always been
>No Net Neutrality = The corporations picking your pocket

>Net Neutrality = How things have always been
>No Net Neutrality = The corporations picking your pocket

>Net Neutrality = How things have always been
>No Net Neutrality = The corporations picking your pocket

>Net Neutrality = How things have always been
>No Net Neutrality = The corporations picking your pocket

Net neutrality socializes the costs of high bandwidth websites, e.g. Netflix, Amazon.

It's removal will increase competition, speed, service; with temporary expense of higher price until market stabilizes.

Trump's not stupid. He won't remove the main avenue for his supporters to congregate. Arguments pro net neutrality are, at their core, indistinguishble from those in favor of socialized healthcare.

>Seems like mobile has overtaken any other form of internet access

isn't that usually with 25 GB plans and stuff like that?
Pretty bad

nah if he bans porn it would be the real reason

Go fuck yourself shill faggots. Tell your corporate paymasters that the American people are not for sale.

I don't understand how this works. To limit access in this way wouldn't they need to actively monitor what you are doing and change the service you get all the time. But wouldn't that make them liable for any crimes committed over their internet tubes?

>National Coalition on Black Civic Participation

wat

The technology that would/will allow the ISPs to fuck you over only started to be viable around the early 2000's. Remember, the internet was originally devised as a way to keep communication open in the battlefield. That means that the entire design of it was focused on making every piece of info equally important and adding in redundancies to make it so losing part of the network didn't lose that info.

In short, the original design of the technology supported net neutrality, and it took a lot of intense research before ISPs figured out how to modify that design in order to control it.

As soon as they did start controlling it, most famously with blocking bittorrent traffic in 2007, the FCC stepped in and told them to fuck right off, and there has been an intense legal battle ever since, with ISPs trying to destroy net neutrality rules and public interest groups working to keep them.

With the election of Trump, we will lose those rules. The technology now exists and is mature. ISPs have a total monopoly of the market. And the rules that were stopping them are about to be removed.

Mark my words, the internet as you have known it is over. It will soon start to resemble Cable TV.

Good job America, we lost the greatest thing that mankind's science has ever given us.

>large websites want to use be subsidized by smaller sites by paying same rate despite them impacting the network more

Same argument about your neighbor downloading 10 TB a month when you use only 500 GB but have reduced speed because he is using the majority of the bandwidth yet he argues that he should pay the same as you.

>I am a single issue voter
or
>I think there is a candidate that agrees with me on 100% of the issues

which one are you?

What's even worse:

So Trump wants to destroy UN, because it condemned Israel crimes ?

In that "Sovereignty act" he declares, that USA is just an ISRAEL COLONY...

(a typical fake-media lying - give something a completelly opposite name from what it means and noone thinks about the actual problem...)

How do you feel to be declared an official colony of Israel by a "Sovereignty act" ?
(declaration of a "Sovereign", which means "the overlord")

it's like with free speech, the most used services are already consumerist garbage, but the underlying service is still uncompromised

Given that the special snowflake Soros-funded anti-free-speech Trump-is-illegitimate crowd supports Net Neutrality should be a red flag.

Was that because he was a good lawyer, or because he thought Net Neutrality was cancer?

HOLY SHIT HOW CAN YOU BE THIS STUPID???????

ITS STILL THE FUCKING INTERNET. IT TRAVELS THROUGH THE SAME FUCKING CHANNELS.

Just because it initially goes through the air wirelessly doesn't somehow make it not the internet you dumb fuck. It's all one network.

Abusive neighbors believe they should be allowed to be abusive on the network with no penalties

You have to reach the masses in the simplest way. I have some ideas

>Net Neutrality = Approved by Jesus
>No Net Neutrality = Approved by Satan

>Net Neutrality = Adam and Eve
>No Net Neutrality = Adam and Steve

>Net Neutrality = Stars and Stripes
>No Net Neutrality = Moon and Star

>Net Neutrality = Freedom
>No Net Neutrality = Communism

And so on

Every retard in this thread is assuming too much just because Trump hired someone who has a position you don't like. You fags sound like libs when a politician who's against abortion or gay marriage takes an office in health or civic court

>great at shitposting
Only because of AMERICAN EDUCATION.

>the most thin-skinned people in this board
>great at banter

The core of the net neutrality argument is:
Do you want the ISP to pay for the infrastructure with their own money or do you want the government to use tax payer money to fund infrastructure

If you want the ISP to fund it then they have to make the money to fund it, either by charging the customer or the website. Since charging the customer is more likely to make the customer leave and find another ISP, the better option for them is to charge the websites

This all exists because most people changed from using the internet for email and Facebook to using it for Netflix and YouTube, thus creating higher demand for bandwidth which requires better infrastructure

It's okay, he won't let this pass he promised to give power back to the people.

TPP could of been worse given how much copyright infringing material there is on the internet.

that's a good point

what was Comcast opinon on SOPA?

It's so fucking shitty that fully half the population is too stupid to understand what is going on. How do we fight when half of our countrymen don't even know where the battlefield is?

Coming from a >mexcan intellectual

Comcast, Verizon, Cox, and Time Warner are the only people who don't support net neutrality.
