I don't have a problem with abortion necessarily, I mostly disagree with specific feminist views on the subject. Women tend to approach the issue as "my body, my choice," which is inherently flawed logic.

The fetus is not an organ within the woman's body and is not technically a part of the woman's body; it is a genetically distinct organism incubating inside the woman's body. A woman arguing that a genetically distinct organism residing in her uterus is an extension of her own body makes about as much sense as me arguing that a tenant residing in a house I own is an extension of my house.

As previously stated, the fetus incubating in the woman's body is a genetically distinct entity. It does not possess consciousness or the ability to make its own decisions and there is a reasonable basis for arguing that it is not an autonomous human being. Since it cannot make decisions for itself, it stands to reason that someone else will have to make decisions for it by proxy. This responsibility would naturally fall to the parents. Since the fetus' genetic makeup is only 50% that of the mother, she can only reasonably claim 50% of the choice, with the other 50% belonging to the father.

Therefore, it is neither her body nor her choice, and I think any legislation passed on the subject should have to take that into account.
