He then works to organize the business so that he can pay back said loan and acquire profit, producing goods or services other people want and employing people to do the same in the process. If he means to survive in the wilderness, then he could unless he did not have access to do so due to laws or material constraints, which is generally speaking independent from the economic system. This is to say that wilderness survival under communism would be viable assuming no force is preventing him from doing so.
On the other hand, if you're living alone in a city, you still are in fact dependent upon other people's labor, there's just some extra steps involved that may make it seem like you are independent, when in fact you are not.
It's a very one sided negotiation under capitalism because the manager holds all the power. Why do the other workers have a say? Remember value is a subjective idea, you may very well think your labor is worth $100,000 annually, but that doesn't necessarily make it the case.
