The EU has torn its own reputation apart, in one of founding countries and one of the most EUrophile up until a few years ago, from an institution that solves problems to one that creates problems. This is how it's perceived and rightfully fucking so. And the € currency feels like another problem in an of itself. It's more and more blamed as the culprit for the struggling Italian economy (which is partially true, getting rid of it will not solve every single problem - but it's a step in the right direction).
Italians - despite the fact that Italy is, and has always been, a net contributor to the EU finances - feel like their getting a very shitty deal out of it

It was just a treaty norther EU countries de facto imposed on souther EU countries to be able to send every migrant who reached north Europe back to the first country he stepped in (99% a southern EU country). So long as amount of migrants were few, although steady, souther EU countries were able (more like "forced") to sponge them up, but as soon as a million people showed up and started walking north it turned out it just didn't work.
