if he was suicidal he did him a favour

Cop gave him more than enough chances.

Cop makes the right call here. I'd rather kill a man than watch him die.

You are trying to kill yourself?

Let me help you out senpai

5 Shots is a bit excessive but he did have plenty of chances and was closing ground to the officer with a knife, can't say I wouldn't have done the same thing.

Dude just did suicide by cop instead. Cop gave him every chance to put down the knife.

21 foot rule
shooting was justified

If you are going to shoot, you shoot to kill. This isn't Terminator 2.

greenhorn cop. Wrong job

cop was in the right. no choice.

why are us cops always engaging suspects alone?

This is what tazers are for.

You can tell that cop didn't know what the fuck he was doing. Unfit for the job.

Man that looks like its a townhouse, I bet those bullets made their way through the wall and into the neighbors homes... Kind of wreck less honestly.

This.

No body

Suicide dude was wrong for stupid games stupid prizes

Woman was wrong for calling the cops for a suicide attempt with a weapon

Cop was wrong for assisting the suicide

And if you think the cop was right, why call the police? Get your gun, tell your family member to put the knife down, and blow him away when he doesn't. Cops have better things to do.

>no choice
He should have backed out of the house. It's not a confrontation with a criminal, or even someone with obvious intent.

Just stupid, honestly.

This was bad training on the officers part. He shouldn't have advanced on the guy and opened himself into that situation. He could have tried to talk the man down from the front door like he originally was doing. I think it was a good shoot because the guy was coming toward him with the knife but the cop should have never gotten that close to begin with.

or you know shoot him in the leg.

5 times. That lightsaber must've been scary

The officer closed ground with the suspect and entered the 21 foot range himself. He created his own danger.

a snitch nigga that's that shit I don't like

BANG BANG

>shoot him in the leg

same retarded comment every fucking time we have one of these threads

>21 foot rule

It's 21 feet to draw and shoot from cold reflexes by the way, not when you have your gun aimed and ready to fire

Went into a confined space with an armed suspect, alone. This cop is a retard. Given the way the situation unfolded I think it was justified, but there was plenty the cop could have done not to wind up there. I say he's 60% at fault.

he wuz a good boy he dindu nuffin. he wuz on he way to church and get school clothes

Why not just shot him in the leg or something? Just to incapacitate him?

he wasn't responding and he didn't know where he was. for all he knew he could have stabbed himself already.

>expecting the bootlickers on Sup Forums not to side with a cop.
why did the cop engage him at all? who was in danger to be harmed if the cop hadn't walked into the house?

Should have put one in his knee after the first warning failed instead of waiting until its to late and putting 5 in the chest.

He knew he was suicidal, he knew he had a knife. He should have been prepared to fire some less lethal shots before he even entered the house, seeing as a suicidal person likely wont listen to vocal warnings.

>inb4 hurr 21 feet rule
21 feet rule doesn't apply, he all ready had his weapons drawn and knew the guy had a knife. If he can't shoot some one in the leg from that distance and with that knowledge he has no business in being a cop or entering the house by himself.

Great argument.

>half of thread not siding with cop
Hurr durrr pol is one person with one opinion. I'm a retard that sees what I want to.

officers dont have a duty to retreat. He walked backwards while instructing him to drop the weapon and stop advancing. The suspect chose to not listen.

The timing is important. Even with your weapon drawn, you have less than 2 seconds to decide to use force or not. Again, officers do not have a duty to retreat.

Justified, but if you have a family member that is suicidal, calling the cops isn't a great idea. A best friend, preacher or someone else is a much better. This proves why.

Cop was right.

Bullets don't magically drop a man charging at you with a knife

He should've backpedaled to keep distance. Definitely fired prematurely.

>muh cops cant hit a limb because theyre trained for center mass shot placement
>cops shoot everyone in the face anyway and cause collateral damages to civilians

Dont make excuses for bad policing. They have less than lethal alternatives for a reason but opt for their pistol first thing. Only thing they use more than lethal force is a fucking ticket book.

not an argument

>shoot the leg meme

You know that's probably even more fatal than getting shot in the abdomen. You have a major artery in your leg that will kill you 100% if it gets fucked up. Even something as simple as the bullet bouncing off of bone and hitting the artery can do it.

a police officer is supposed to escalate the situation until either the suspect submits or perishes. he did what he was told to do.

FPBP

I used to be an adventurer like you and then I took an arrow to the knee.

Weird how a eurocuck doesn't understand firearms.

>shoot him in the leg
I didn't know legs were full if play dough and sprinkles.. You guys are fucking stupid. If that war policy we'd have no more police because they'd all be sued for shooting people in the legs. Or they will end up killing people but watching them bleed out of their leg first for 5 minutes then die in agony. Really smart idea!

this is a reasonable assessment of the incident.

>21 foot rule
>with holstered weapon
Bootlicker

they are usually trained to shoot 3-5 times, reassess the situation and continue or stop.

a single shot doesnt do much unless you nick the CNS.

>stungun
HE'S DANGER SHOOT TO KILL

So you know for a fact, that the officer involved in the shooting was issued and had, at the time of the shooting, a taser in his possession that he could have used instead?

Not all cops are issued tasers. Id like to reserve judgement on the matter until the evidence shows that the cop could have used the taser and didnt.

Why didn't the cop just shoot the knife out of his hand? Then while the knife was flying through the air, he could shoot it away towards the kitchen. Then, while the knife was still spinning in mid air, he could shoot open the silverware drawer, then shoot the knife once more, causing it to safely land in the drawer.

UNFIT FOR THE JOB

>or even someone with obvious intent

You're right. The guy was obviously just cutting up vegetables when the police entered

Move towards police officer with deadly weapon and repeatedly ignore his commands = ded

Fuck dude, I live in a town house and I can say the walls are not thick. The people next to me bitch and scream at eachother and I can smell dope through the basement walls.

Play stupid games win stupid prizes
>hurt you didn't shoot him did you?!
Kek fuck you think dumb cunt

Why not tazer him or something?

Now that's some weird form of suicide

he did not even charge at the police officer

why do us cops always let things escalate so badly? he could have just have backed off and try to engage him with a dog or pepper spary while his fellow officers cover him with guns.

>You know that's probably even more fatal than getting shot in the abdomen

That is absolutely true. All Im saying is if they are trained to shoot center mass why they shooting everyone in the face or neck? They shot a fucking teenager in the neck, some drunk driver and this shit gets caught on film and spread to the internet. They cant hide their inept actions behind threats and intimidation anymore.

Dont call the cops. Get a gun and use it to defend yourself. These stupid fucks are not trained for real policing but parking/traffic fines. Just morons playing hero and they fuck up just like anyone else.

Defending idiot cops like this guy just tarnishes the already corroded reputation of the police.

>You know that's probably even more fatal than getting shot in the abdomen. You have a major artery in your leg that will kill you 100% if it gets fucked up.
The difference is that bleeding in the extremitets can be stopped a hell of a lot easier then bleeding in the abdomen. Major aorta in the thigh is fucked? Put your knee above the wound and rest your entire body weight on it, ignore the screams and wait for someone to arrive with a tourniquet.

yup, not automatically jumping to the defense of the suicidal guy who had been involved in a hit/skip and approached an officer with a knife makes me a bootlicker.

Tazer dont work sometimes.

>he wasn't responding and he didn't know where he was. for all he knew he could have stabbed himself already.

This is true, but when he popped the corner and saw the guy was right there, he should have kept as much distance between him and the faggot as possible while still being able to communicate. Instead he stays too close with his gun drawn and waits for the guy to suicide to by cop.

>Your loved one is suicidal and going to kill himself with a knife
>You can't talk him down so you call in people who are more qualified
>Cops arrive and shoot your loved one

America, your cops are shit-tier.

I've probably put more wealth through the barrel of a gun then you will make in your entire life.

He was alone and tazers don't always work and miss easily and it's one shot then you're unarmed against a close range enemy with a weapon. That probably had something to do with it.

What is the story on this? Got any links?

You're not using that meme correctly.

Because, as you can tell from his shaky voice, he didn't know what the fuck he was doing, he clearly didn't intend to talk him out of it.

because tasers are one shot and not 100% effective. If it doesn't work, he's getting stabbed before he can pull out the gun

>Not all cops are issued tasers

No. They just dont want to carry it on their belt because they are fatasses. They leave that in the car. If they have no non-lethal defense they shouldnt be patrolling at all.

I don't understand how it becomes so baffling to someone who called the cops (I grant it was probably 911), then acts surprised when someone gets shot.
>Tell me you did not shoot him!
There are no fucking magic tricks for shit like this. The situation sucks for everyone involved.

>Woman was wrong for calling the cops for a suicide attempt with a weapon
This. Why the fuck do immature "adults" call police at the first sign of difficulty in their life? Ever heard of resolving problems on your own? The cops are only really good at ticketing people or throwing them in handcuffs or shooting. They won't come in and fix your family affairs except with a bullet.

He did nothing wrong.

He was there to stop the guy from killing himself and he did exactly that.

What if he ran out of the house and attacked the woman or police without warning? What if he had children in there? I can play the what if game too, you faggot.

It's an obvious suicide by cop incident, but even then the cop isn't going to put himself or anyone else besides the knife wielder at risk of injury.

Cop was justified.

Yeah, it's a good shoot.
God dammit, I'm glad I'm not in that line of work anymore.
You just saw several people's (officer included) worst day.

I honestly don't know. I'm starting to think maybe making it a requirement that you live in the area you police might not be a bad idea.

again, prove it or shut the fuck up until you have evidence to support your position.

How do you make you hit someone in the knee while hes running at you with a knife from a short distance.
You only get to shoot once tho, otherwise you would be using excessive force.
How do you do it?

Tired of Sup Forums always taking the cops side desu

Painfully evident you have no experience their. Way to Monday morning QB.

didn't even watch the video, just saw the title that it's a cop, so it's automatically OK

HOLY FUCKING THOTH

>You have a major artery in your leg that will kill you 100% if it gets fucked up

No??? It's not exactly easy to fix but plenty of people have survived major injury to those arteries. Now keeping the leg, thats a different story.

>Mom calls for help since her suicidal son is walking around with a knife in her house
Do you.
>A) Enter with mace in one hand and gun in the other, spray his face and then run outside and waut until he brakes down crying from the mace
>B) Enter with a gun drawn and put 5 round in his chest

Why are ameritard cops so coward ?

So they can send an entire swat team to arrest kid who is doing stream on twitch but when an actual job for swat happens they send a single cop who panics and goes into ed-209 mode
Who the fuck defends it?

>officers dont have a duty to retreat. He walked backwards while instructing him to drop the weapon and stop advancing. The suspect chose to not listen.

It's not about what the officer can legally get away with. It's unsafe procedure for both the officer and the suspect. The point of studying topics like the 21 foot rule is to know when situations are dangerous and avoid them, not willingly enter those situations for a license to kill.

>The timing is important. Even with your weapon drawn, you have less than 2 seconds to decide to use force or not.

And again, the officer has a choice how much time he has to decide to shoot a suspect by where he plants his feet. It's his fault he had to shoot he guy. He was too close.

Why didn't he just taze the guy?

>all these people defending a tenderfoot cop for totally unnecessarily escalating a situation to the point of shooting some a suicidal guy trapped in a house
Sup Forums has become the definition of statist apologists

They could have called suicide hotline

>stop trying to kill yourself or I will fucking kill you
k

B

and he retreated as the suspect approached him

Suicide is a crime.

OR he could use shotgun and shoot both the knife and the nigger into the drawer.

The cop was right to shoot him, but completely wrong in escalating the situation to the point where it came to that.

Make of that what you will.

>why call the police?

the cop was there because the idiot crashed a car and either ran or did not provide insurance. probably why he was suicidal.

the cop mentions the crash and the insurance in the video.

I just want to add that if the officer kept his cool and waited for backup the incident probably would have become a standoff, with the guy either being smoked out with teargas and alive, or dead from self-inflicted injuries. I kind of feel bad for the cop having this on his conscience now.

No shit.
