The Idea is a tank moves to a "hot position" with good visibility to fire, and them moves to a "cold position" where is is hidden from direct view and fire.
As you can see it it is pretty effective against 'slow' moving ATGMs, maybe not so much main tank gun rounds. Where different tactics would be used.
