No problem. Glad I could visit tonight.
Last picture for today will be a Tu-95MS being refueled by a Il-78
Charles Cook
So does anyone would like to visit Turkey this summer?
Angel Fisher
thanks for dumping. I wonder how restrictive that limited gun elevation/azimut is in real combat compared to a relatively free rotating turret more like we know it from other attack helicopters.
Ryan Myers
What can I do in Turkey as a tourist though?
Jonathan Foster
Get shot and die

Take part in a coup!

visit cultural heritage from the roman/bytantinum empire, mosques churches. Some natural attractions like pamukkale too. They got some interesting things to take a look at. Then the whole basic tourism beach vacation thing. Also with the turkish lira crashing it should be rather cheap right now.
Leo Adams
we already have that in mexico
Zachary Miller
>Turkish Lira crashing > 1 TRY = 5 MXN
If you have Euro or Dolar this place is cheap as fuck.
Jason Phillips
I heard pilots say when applying it to Russian helicopter doctrine (which simply put is not staying stationary), it isn't that bad. Since the relatively restricted gun is more precise than a turret as it makes a lower spread. Visit Onur Gedik!
Juan Wright
interesting, thanks for the info. Ever since i saw that video of an apachy lighting up some taliban from what looked like more than a kilometer away i thought that spread wasn't much of an issue on typical engagement distances.
Jacob Wright
Well I don't think a kilometer is that hard for a 30mm cannon to do (which the AH-64 also carries). I am afraid I do not know enough about such cannons to tell you the optimal engagement distances.
Christopher Evans
no, i don't think so either. I was just amazed at how precise the thing was.
Nevertheless, I just checked the Tulamash and the Orbital ATK websites for more precise specs. OATK didn't have anything useful but the Tulamash website said this about the general characteristics of the 2A42:
>30-мм aвтoмaтичecкaя пyшкa 2A42 пpeднaзнaчeнa для бopьбы c лeгкoбpoниpoвaнными цeлями нa дaльнocтях дo 1500 м, ycтaнoвкaми ПTУPC, лeгкoбpoниpoвaнными cpeдcтвaми пpoтивникa нa дaльнocтях дo 4000 м, a тaкжe c вoздyшными цeлями, лeтящими нa мaлых выcoтaх дo 2000 м c дoзвyкoвыми cкopocтями и нaклoннoй дaльнocтью дo 2500 м.
Basically against light armor it is effective up to 1500 m, for unarmored targets up to 4000 m, low flying aerial targets up to 2000 m, and 2500 m for targets flying at subsonic and slanted trajectories.

Last bump for today. Here is something I was sent for y'all to ponder about.

HAS ASSAD BEEN POISONED?
Adam Richardson
Unfortunately, yes.
Caleb Johnson
Always wondered this myself but it makes sense when you see .gif related. Not as bad as we think I guess especially @ higher altitudes.
