Excuse my poor source but the second comment states that Sessions told Yates to do this now she is being fired?

This needs to be seen by people. Yates confirmation hearing: start watching at 1:15:00
Jeff Sessions, who if confirmed will be Attorney General, tells Yates that she will have to say no to the president if he asks her to enforce something that is against the law. She promises that she will defend the law and defy the president if necessary.

>now she is being fired
She disobeyed the orders of her boss, as is her right
Trump fired her for insubordination, as is his right

Not gonna lie, former Trump voter here. This is fucking hilarious watching Trump crash and burn. But in all seriousness we can't let this guy get the nuclear codes

Kek'd, thanks for making my shitty night better.

An executive order enforcing existing immigration laws is not illegal.

That remains to be seen, given how many lawsuits are currently in action.

Good riddance. People need to know they are either with us or with (((them))).

Fuck off shill.

And guess what? The thing she threw a fit over is 100% legal. She put emotions before legality and her job and paid the proce. If you're going to be AG you have to be objective.

Ugh...once again...

Fuck Trump

I'm all for firing this bitch but look at the second post, that video shows Jeff Sessions saying it is ok for her to defy when she disagrees. What's with this?

It's completely legal.

If he truly does something illegal, I don't mind people speaking to him and sorting it out
However, Trump did nothing illegal and she knew it.

Insubordination, plain and simple. That'll get you fired in any job, much less a high ranking government position

The source is a C-Span hearing for her from March 24th 2015.

It has nothing to do with immigration, and has to do with taxes.

>we did it reddit

>"But some DOJ veterans and law professors found some fault with how she handled the conflict over the immigration order. On the Lawfare blog, professor Jack Goldsmith pointed out that Yates had not clearly determined the immigration order was unconstitutional or cited other legitimate bases for refusing to defend it.

>Goldsmith wrote: "she wrote a letter that appears to depart sharply from the usual criteria that an Attorney General would apply in deciding whether to defend an EO in court. As such, the letter seems like an act of insubordination that invites the President to fire her. Which he did.""

It's like you don't think

what did she do?

That's like saying since there were so many sexual assault allegations against Trump they must be true

Fuck off

Read your own post again

>Jeff Sessions, who if confirmed will be Attorney General, tells Yates that she will have to say no to the president if he asks her to enforce something that is against the law.
>say no to the president if he asks her to enforce something that is against the law.
>enforce something that is against the law.
>against the law
>AGAINST
>THE
>LAW
What he did was legal, justhe because there's law suits out against it that doesn't mean it isn't legal. The president is well within his right to restrict access to the US from anywhere for any reason. Many presidents have done it including Obama. There is legal precedent.

>it was all sessions' idea
>but he's not ag yet
>and he was the anti-open borders guy since years before trump even ran
Okay.

...

Trump is not "her boss", the judicial branch is independent from the executive for this exact reason.

He does have the right to fire her, but she had every right to block an EO's implementation until its legality has been reviewed.

And the fact of the matter is that no inter-agency consideration was given. Even Mattis, Sup Forums's hero, was not asked to weigh in before going forward. This is an unprecedented over-reach of the executive branch.

I assume this was an attempt by Trump or whoever's pulling his strings (likely Bannon) to see how far they can go with an EO without consultation. This is a test balloon for a power grab seeing which agencies bend to their will despite being publicly undermined.

Also, you don't "betray" a president, you "betray" a dictator. Our democracy is being probed for weaknesses to exploit by this administration.

Tinfoil as fuck, man. Stop just buying everything your liberal friends tell you, it comes off a bit crazy

As for her being fired, she's legally-minded enough to know she'd need precedent to obstruct his EO
There was clear precedent even in the last administration indicating the legality of Trump's actions

This was deliberate insubordination, and is grounds for termination

No, it says it's their job to oppose the president WHEN HE BREAKS THE LAW - not when he does something they disagree with but is completely within the law and their purview as leader of the Executive Branch.

>There is legal precedent.
There is absolutely legal precedent.

There is not precedent for the lack of inter-agency communication on the matter, especially regarding those agencies that would actually be executing these orders.

We violated our citizen's rights at airports all across the nation today. Not because they were interrogated, but because the sloppy, rushed implementation of this EO caused confusion among departments. We cannot constitutionally "ban muslims" nor can we constitutionally ask travelers whether they are christian in detainment. Both happened, and our highest office is to blame for these violations.

What a loon you are.

You're right, it isn't illegal. Trump didn't press charges on her. He just replaced her.

WRONG - despite the name, the Attorney General and the Justice Department are NOT members of the Judicial Branch. They are part of the Executive Branch and, as such, their management falls under the purview of the POTUS.

The idea of the lawsuits is to make it harder for the authorities to detain and deport these people. Also to draw out the enforcement and get as many injunctions against it as they can(from activist judges) till it reaches the supreme court which could take years.

Which he is well within his rights to do.

>A small percentage of a small percentage of people were majorly inconvenienced
>Literally Cheeto "Benito" Hitler

Cry more, he was legally within bounds especially since Obama conveniently made a list of the countries to ban

...

I will continue to look paranoid for as long as I am alive.

A healthy dose of paranoia is what drives the survival instinct of every man, woman, and child on this planet, and it doesn't hurt to be skeptical or critical of an administration's motives. Even if it's one you like.

I want you to know that I'm not a fan of Obama either, I didn't vote for him in 2012 over some key abuses of power, but this administration legitimately scares me. It's beholden neither to the left or right. It poses as Republican, but is really an interloper that has usurped the name. It also only seems interested in serving billionaires, rather than the people it claims to be "giving it back to", since none of the EO's will prove to make our taxes any lighter, and in several cases, stand to increase them.

I want everyone to be aware when overreach turns to fascism, lest we fall victim to the same fate as Germany, Russia, Italy and so on. I don't want to have my children take mandatory classes reviewing what went wrong in a our nations most shameful time.

Never be content, even when you like the current administration.

how was the "acting attorney general" selected for the position anyway?

...

...

Its like a parody of someone being a shill, You people get paid for this?

This is brilliant, Trump needs his AG pick but the dems are dragging their feet so Trump just fires the temporary one put in by Obama and picks his own temp. Brilliant kek. He can start work tomorrow right away instead of waiting for the confirmation.

Not gonna lie, former Trump voter here. This is fucking hilarious watching Trump crash and burn. But in all seriousness we can't let this guy get the nuclear codes

Actually her replacement was pre-confirmed by Obama years ago. He can't pick just anyone, the job goes to the next in line.
